We aren't clinical enough in front of goal.
That's it.
22 attempts but only 4 on target
And Brighton have as many on target from 13 attempts.
Even when they are on target, we too often hit it at the keeper.

For the number of chances we create, we should be hammering teams.
How many teams have we hammered since the pre-season friendlies?
Bournemouth 3-0
Brentford 3-0
Bodo glimt 3-0
Nottingham forest 5-0
I think a hammering is 4+ goals :)

FFS stop moaning, going out of this shit competition is exactly what we need! I would add the europa lge to that!
Might have been better if we had played a slightly stronger team tonight though instead of that dead rubber v Zurich last week though

If we're getting stressed about this then we need to remember we're top of the league and fast becoming the most exciting club in Europe. This won't matter in six months.
Oh do fuck off - we are nowhere near that good.

We have a few exciting players and have had a good run of form. That is all.

Tonight has shown that we have very little in reserve. I am cautiously optimistic that we might get a top 4 finish. apart from that forget it

I don't agree it was a dead rubber.
1st place was massive.

United and PSV finished 2nd and have Barcelona and Sevilla to face while we get the round off.

I've no doubt we'll get top 4. We're 11 points clear of 5th and there aren't 4 teams better than us in the league. Have already beaten 3 of last year's top 4.

Blackburn knocked Wet Spam out on pens too. City really don't have anyone left to beat!!
Everyone keeps forgetting that Newcastle are going to be the team to beat for the next 20 years. they are the richest club in the world and with actual proper supporters unlike City.

If we get injuries, what we had starting tonight steps in to the first team.

Confident?

This

Time and time again this season the reserves have failed.
We have an ok 1st 11 - other than that we are a mid table side

Really, Rob? We're fucking top of the league not fucking bottom. We've won the European group we were in. This is way down the batting order tonight and if the squad is so thin, fuck it, why bother with this?

There goes the quadruple.
Conversion rate from attempts on goal is atrocious.
We need to get this sorted during the world cup break.
Kinda think this will be a blessing in disguise. Remembering the 1990/91 season, got thumped 6-1 by Manure at Highbury. Didn't do our title chances any damage by going out in the first round.
Good point mate
But it was the 4th round
We beat Chester 2 nd round over legs
Then won 2-1 at Man City in the 4th round
After the united game6-2)
We beat Liverpool 3-0 four days later
Thank you for the corrections well researched.

What is the point of bringing on 1st teamers FFS? Let it go, pathetic decision
Indeed, no point what’ so ever in chasing a game that does us a favour in terms of less matches to play in the 2nd half of the season.
we just dont need it... glad we are out

Fuck the result, we've had better teams than that dumped out the cup however the performance by all accounts was woeful and that is more worrying.

We have a fairly strong starting 11 and maybe 3 decent backs up players but we are deficient still in to many reserve areas, some of themay come good but players like Holding and Cedric as examples need replacing, there are a others
