Ramsdale's mistake was not the first time he's done it . He's a better shot stopper as proven by the Toney save which Raya would not have reached . However apart from sucking up to his mate , what has inaki cana Pavon been doing since the season started .
Ramsdales problem could be coached out but it seems not to have been .Cant help wondering if there's something behind it . Raya gets a great new contract and as Pavon is up for renewal too , so might he .

I was thinking even before the game exactly what John F said on here….that Frank would have watched the Porto game and learnt. We’ll see a replica of that this week, but Porto will be far better at it and we’re already a goal down and our lack of a striker will see us go out.

Anyway, tough game today and the best that can be said is that we won. Didn’t play well and couldn’t break down a well organised side. Yes, Havertz got the winner (although the keeper won’t be happy having got a big hand to it) but he’s not the answer by a million miles. Nor, of course is Jesus. Nothing up top to hurt City when we play them.

As for Ramsdale, my feelings are well known on here. A couple of very good saves in the second half but I’ve always said he’s a shot stopper, but poor otherwise. I was nervous every time he had the ball at his feet and getting caught as he did was no surprise at all. I actually think the bloke isn’t very bright and you’ll never coach poor judgement out of him. Have to see a lot more of Raya to believe he’s the answer, but Ramsdale most definitely isn’t.

Top of the league. Up the Gunners.

Agreed Ramsdale is a much better shot stopper, capable of amazing saves but overall Raya looks more reliable

Was out last night so had to miss the last 5 minutes of the first half and all the second half.......probably saved me some heart trouble!! Thank fuck for Havertz, on a fantastic run, 4 goals and 2 assists in the last 4 games :barscarf: Big mention to Ben White too, his performances fell off a cliff last season but particularly since Dubai, he has been fantastic (as have all the team). Onwards Gunners, we can win this for sure :barscarf: :barscarf:

Raya hasn't really put a foot wrong since the 'who's best/worst' competition earlier in the season. Problem for Ramsdale is, he has those errors in him 3 or 4 times a season minimum and that costs titles/cups. He's just too slow to think and react sometimes. If Raya was 2 or 3 inches taller he'd be even better, he is a bit short for a keeper but is rightfully Arsenal no.1. I wish Rambo all the best but he won't be at Arsenal next season.

Hook that useless prick havertz and bring on ESR :cussing: :banghead:
This would have been a great decision.

A lot of that can be coached out , not just Ramsdale but the sometimes defender's risky back passes, Don't play it across when he is on his line maybe , Problem for Raya is he can't grow , quite possibly had he been in goal we might have lost it 2-1 and had Ramsdale played in Portugal we might well be going into Tuesday night level.
The argument in my mind is not which one is best but whether we need another keeper or goalkeeper coach.

True... There was that thing he said where he can't concentrate for the full 90 minutes of a game ... which although might be difficult for a Goalie, particularly if the team have a lot of possession and are in the opponents half ... is what is Required.. I really like Rambo ... but he does have his flaws as a GK ... And whilst Raya is a Good keeper... safe handling etc ... at least so far ... The fact he is only 6ft which for a Keeper these days is considered to be 'short'. Pity we can't combine the best qualities of both. What you say about Pavon has been said by quite a few on the various Fan Forums..

The thing is the likes of Emerson / Alison type top GK's are hard to find and then they cost an arm and a leg, mind you they also do have a rick in them as has been seen recently. After yesterday's mistake any th9ughts that Rambo might stay with us were greatly lessened. Also his price may now have diminished.

Just noticed a stat from yesterday, the total match time was 105 mins and 30 seconds, but the ball in play time was only 49m and 26 seconds, you can see from tht what Brentfords game plan was
