A solution for the atmosphere to improve at the grove

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

A solution for the atmosphere to improve at the grove

Post by This Is The Daybreak »

Reduce it to 10,000 and only have people with 10 plus away credits on file :)

Ok just being stupid I know but the atmosphere against Chelsea was absloutley fantastic I thaught...is it just me or has the atmosphere at away games got better this season than it has been for years.

there is a reason why i haven't been to the emirates this season - and i'm silver  just call me awayday k  our support on the road is just . . .

well let's say this, if it was a crime to have good away support, each and every one of us would get a life sentence each 8)

There'll never be any "improvement" until ticket prices come down, and while we are still paying for the stadium that won't happen.
Of course it won't happen anyway, football clubs are businesses first and foremost, and as a business their main priority is making money, which means they will always try to get as much for a ticket as possible.

In other words, most of the Gooners who'll sing and chant all game long are priced out of going to games.

Most of the grounds around the country are priced roughly the same as ours, thats no too mention travel expenses...Is money really the thing? Chelsea cost nearly 50 quid and thats not mention other grounds where tickets are normally priced between 35-50 quid.

I agree, i'm a red member but joining the travel club next season and getting my loyalty points transferred onto my TC membership and going to all the away games i can, im a pretty vocal person at Arsenal and just love going to away games, I almost feel you get looked down upon at home games by the snobby stuck up prawn sandwchich eating tossers that fill up our stadium each week and leave after 75 minutes making our support look sh!te which if you go to away games you can see that we have the best support in the prem.

Here here...

I'm Red and have been to around 50 games in the last 2 seasons - only about 6 of those have been Away but all have been far more lively than the homes. Fulham this season, for instance, was awesome. It really does make us seem like a library at home sometimes (esp when the away fans are reminding us of it too!). We are being priced out!

I ditched going regularly to home games years ago. (Have only been To The Grove once!) Away games is where its at. Joined the Travel Club around 2002 / 2003, have 24 credits and now go to pretty much any away game I like (except f*cking Liverpool In The Champs League!!) I would certainly recommend it.

THAT'S OKAY UNTIL THE AWAY SCHEME HAS SO MANY MEMBERS THAT SOME CAN'T GET TICKETS (LIKE YOU AT LIVERPOOL). THEN WHAT WOULD ONE DO? :?

Thats why you need to build your credits. I missed out on Liverpool by one, I currently have 24, If I had 25 I would have been fine. I refuse to pay the amount at The Grove to be surrounded by Prawn Sandwich brigade who look at me as If I've got 2 heads If I start chanting! Roll on The Reebok!

GOOD ON YOU MIKE, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. IF THERE IS A FINATE AMOUNT OF AWAY TICKETS TO BE PURCHASED, HOW CAN YOU BE GUARANTEED TO BUILD UP YOUR CREDITS TO A SUFFICIENT LEVEL IF YOU'RE ALWAYS STRUGGLING TO GET ONE?

YOU ALSO HAVE TO BEAR IN MIND THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE BUYING TICKETS AND THEN SELLING THEM ON IN ORDER TO BUILD UP THEIR CREDITS - THUS LIMITING STILL FURTHER THE OPPORTUNITY FOR OTHER SUPPORTERS TO GET A GOOD FOOTHOLD ON THE LIST. I DON'T EXPECT THAT PROCEDURE WILL SUDDENLY STOP HAPPENING - AND I PERSONALLY DON'T FEEL STRONGLY ABOUT IT EITHER WAY - SO WHERE ARE FANS TO GET THEIR CREDITS FROM? :?

By going to the smaller games that don't require any credits to apply. I built mine up by going to The Boltons, Wigans, West Broms, Birminghams. I can't really comment on anyone else, just saying what I did and what I prefer. Unless given to me as a freebie, I can't Imagine I'll ever pay to go To The Grove again....
