Best Live Act You've Been To?

Post by RaM »

Well we already have a what sort of music you like, and can you play music thread so...

Best act you've been to?

For me, it'd be Linkin Park.

I'm going to see Karnivool in April though, and Foo Fighters in May, so may have a new fave come out of that.

Ben Folds is very good live. Saw him at the Brixton Academy, which is my favourite gig venue. Kasabian are also very good.

Dad took me to see Pink Floyd when I was very young, so although I can't remember it, I'm sure that is probably the best gig I've ever been to!

Brixton Academy's ok, I like carpeted floor and slope leading the stage, but the sound there is truly shite.

I'd like to see Ben Folds, did he play many songs of 'Songs for Silverman'?

Best live act i've ever seen for the live show is probably Marilyn Manson in Birmingham (no, I'm not a goth :) )

The best gig i've ever seen (for the set list, performace, post show piss up etc) was No Use For A Name at the Highbury Garage, or Bad Religion at the Bristol Academy.

I think the sound is OK there. I like it because it's small and generates a really good atmosphere. As for Ben Folds, yeah, he did play a few from that album. He's big on crowd participation, so his gigs are always a good laugh!

You know, I've seen Marilyn Manson too, and he was actually pretty good. No, he's not my cup of tea, and it wasn't one of his gigs; it was at Reading 8)

Oh, and Floyd '87...that may well be the one my Dad took me to!

ALSO LUTHER VANDROSS AT WEMBLEY ARENA WAS FAIRLY GOOD.

FINALLY, I HAD THE GOOD FORTUNE IN THE 80'S TO TOUR AS A ROADIE WITH MY MATES WHO WERE THE SUPPORT BAND TO KOOL AND THE GANG. WE DID A 6 WEEK EUROPEAN TOUR WHICH INCLUDED PLAYING IN PARIS; GERMANY; AUSTRIA; SWITZERLAND AND SPAIN, BEFORE CONCLUDING WITH WEMBLEY ARENA THEN BRIGHTON.

KOOL AND THE GANG - NOW THAT'S WHAT YOU CALL A GREAT BAND!! 8)

I seen Floyd in Earl's Court and I've seen Genesis twice, their early stuff is awesome, and they were for me the best live bands of all time, and I also saw MJ in Cork on the Bad tour in '88, Jees  that's 20yrs ago, and that was some show also!
