Reyes: Do we want him back

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Reyes: Do we want him back

Post by DDignam »

Read on the bbc website today Reyes and Baptista have both been informed that they shall be returning to there respective clubs at teh end of loan spells. Just wanted to see what people felt about this. Firstly do we think someone else in Europe will buy him and if now, would we have him back.

My personal opinion is that we should look not to sell him but convince him to stay. His value must have dropped since his move to spain, stred well but finished poorly. During last season I thought he diod well for teh side, did not get many goals but worked very hard, especially in teh champions league. We could see him come back a much more mature player.

I think he definatly could add top our side, he is young and a very talented footballer with experiance of the english game, if we replace him with a similar quality player how much would they cost and e again could be waiting a year to see his credentials.

All that noted I accept Reyes has said he does not want to play for arsenal or in england, however with a bad time in spain who knows. I would have him back (and Anelka for that matter to :)

What do people think

Think Reyes is a good player and definately did well for us when he played, but he dosen't love the club and has publically said that he dosen't want to play. Maybe I'm wrong but I think when he went to spain he slagged of Mr Wenger!

If a player dosen't like where he is he's not gonna put his heart into it. There will be no passion and no drive. I'd rather sell him and get someone who wants to play

Unfortunaetly he HATES it here! I'd probably have him on merit purely because we'll prob only get £5-6mill for him now!

He won't be at Arsenal next year, he'll either get shipped off to some Midtable Spanish side or he will buy out his contract.

When the season starts we'll be heading for winter so there will be nothing to convince him its not that bad after all! He played fantastic for us when it was sunny but its no good having a player who cant be bothered to leave the coach if its rainy and cold!

Yeah, fuck him. He hates Arsenal, the fans, the lifestyle, the weather and most everything else about the Gunners and England in general. He's a whiney little tramp too.

There is talent there but he seems to have one of those famous "dodgy temperaments" and only plays well when the weather suits him or the oppo aren't too rough etc etc etc.

I say get rid of him and the beast (fucking laughable nickname that - what with him stumbling around tripping over his own feet, the burger addicted Lampard impersonator).

Oh, and see if Aliadi-Useless can fit in one of their bags...

He is such a talented young player its hard just to say fuck off. But if he doesn't want to play here then its probably best that he doesn't. In a recent article I read he was quoted as saying its not that he hates playing for Arsenal, its more the English climate.

Thought he was great when he started. (Anyone remember him doing Chelsea on his debut in the Cup?) And I don't think he ever recovered from being kicked all round Old Trafford by the Chuckle Brothers in his first full season, but he clearly doesn't fancy the climate here, so let's cut our losses and get a few quid for him.

He is something we are lacking in AMF this season.

He is a great player, bring him in. Dont forget that every player plays for money, career and wants to be adapted as best as possible. U might rate his coments low, but i think he said what he that. Every player will be frustrated to leave him in Champions League final out, if Arsene played him from first minute at CH L final he might kill Barca defense with his speed. About The Beast, hi is far away from that, he is weak biatch.
Anelka is good too, but wee ned DEFENSIVE players, and nothing else.
an talented CB and DMF.

Anyway u guys are closer and watch every game live, and I think from a diferent corner, and as an outsider, this is what most of Arse fans from around here think.

I dunno about need for defenders.

We have toure, gallas, dejoru and senderos. Senderos has had a bad season and low confidence but he is back from a bad injury and proved his worth last season, we buy a world class centre back and we will have to drop either toure or gallas. I think were fine there.

If anything some competition for eboue at right back, he needs something to get him focused on his game

As far as a dm we have gilberto and Diaby. Maybe in one or two seasons we will but I would not say now.

I think we seriously are lacking a rud van nistlroy type striker who you can give teh ball in and around teh 18 yard box and he will score. I dont like teh guy but you know what you get, with someone like him we would be killing teams off and fighting for teh league this year. I thinkwe have good players in adebeyor, RVP and TH but none of them meet this description (RVP closest )

People have commented that his value would have dropped to £5/6M. Well I'd rather have that money to spend elsewhere than a player who, for whatever reason, will not give 100% all season long.

I'd rather have a player with half Reyes' ability that watch Reyes frustrate and only give his all when he felt like it. You win nothing with carrying players and it would only be detrimental to the dressing room.

Lets cut our losses, get the best fee we can for him and move on.

I don't want this bloke coming back even to train with our players, telling the likes of Fabregas how nice it is in Spain and he should go and play there. No, let him stay over there and hopefully we can dump him off to a Serie B club or Portugal for a few Euros as soon as possible.

You watch more games than i do!!!

Post by Drone »

Honestly i dont watch them closer as you guys, but i really like players like him, hi is fast, has killer dribling and passes as vell. But if he dont like England or Arsenal, he can go to F...... And about poisoning Fab with idea to move to Spain thats a tru event. but hurts to lose in content with RM Bapt-Reyes, i had the fiiling from the begining that they booth are gone.
Anyway who needs thatm if they are not 100% focused in Arse. game.
About CB, Gallas might be leaving after couple of frustrating months, he is old and most of ar players are young, very big posibility for him to leave. RVN killer ace, we might take risk on Bendtner or buy some talnted striker as vell, some kind of scoring from novhere, like Toni, Close, Inzaghi etc. or some Great master Header, when is tha last time you guys have seen a great scored header. Id say Last Champions League final Campbell.

What we need most is some width in midfield, however i'm with Trevheff on this get the money for Reyes and get rid asap.

Next season we will have a fully fit Henry and RVP so will be like 2 new strikers. Bendtner is good in the air if we need that option although would like to see a goalpoacher as previously mentioned.
