MARTIN FUCKING TAYLOR!!
MARTIN FUCKING TAYLOR!!
Now a lot of you will think this post as a bit mad, but I was talking to my equally obsessed and depressed father about this whole Cesc thing, and he couldn't help wonder if Martin Taylor hadn't smashed fuck out of Eduardo THAT day at Birmigham, would our fate have taken a BIG different turning??
I personally reckon we'd have won the league that year, and the real possibility that we'd have kept Flamini and Hleb (Cesc's 2 best mates btw)
I know it may seem like I'm clutching at straws, but I seriously think Eduardo would have pushed on even more from that season without having his leg snapped in half. He was the Van Nistelroy finisher we were crying out for, and even Andy Grey called him the 'master finisher' in his first season, now look at him!! And we'd have kept Flamini and Hleb, whatever you think of them, they complemented Cesc perfectly, the pair of em!
I think we could have won at least two trophies since then if that fucking fat neanderthal hadn't snapped our Eddie, and with that I think we'd have kept our glorious little capitan!! discuss...

You mat be right - you may be mad
Seriously who knows what would have happened. Thing is it DID happen and that's how things turned out - the lack of investment in the team was exposed and decisively so yet again.
The people who are angry aren't THAT demanding - had we won the Premiership or Champions League or even the F.A. Cup ONCE since 2006 I think most if not all of us would be much more satisfied if not fully satisfied.
I think its the sense that the Club - the Manager and the Board - actually ARE fully satisfied winning nothing during this period when just a bit more spending surely would have seen us win something and just a bit more each year might have seen similar results the past five years to those of 1998-2005 that is strilking the nerve - Mr. Wenger saying automatic qualification ofr the Champions League - i.e. additional matchday profits - is a trophy as he (and the Board as well I'd presume) sees it, Peter Hill-Wood joking that he won't be bothered a bit if we win nothing this past year, even mocking supporters whose hearts break from their team coming up short by joking about jumping off the Tower Bridge(bet anyone who knows anyone who's attempted suicide merely got the humor there)
Speaking for myself I just don't feel like the Board cares how the supporters feel about the club and how badly we want it to be successful whenit can be - at least not until they have cashed in.That's what frustrates and angers me. Maybe had that incident not occured maybe we do win the Premiership and maybe I and lot of others feel drastically differently. But we didn't so why worry about that?

Another point about Martin Taylor and the rest of his get in hard, let them av it type footballers. Do you think this may be a small part of why Cesc wants to leave(only a small one dont go overboard). The thought of another "lets show im we are here" challenge like the ones Diaby, Eduardo, Ramsey and he recived?

You might have something there jonny, but what makes me mad is the lack of ambition shown by the hierarchy when there have failed to invest on 2 important occasions.
After the the invincible season we didn't invest in players to prolong our success as wenger let 6 experienced 1st team squad players go and brought in 3 reserves in so doing weakened the squad and this trait as carried on.The same could be said after the 2007/08 season where we came so close to winning the title that if investing in the right players we could have won it in 2008/09 but again experienced squad players were let go and youngsters brought to replace them.

They were talking about this on talkshite the other day and even though he's a tiresome jingoistic tubthumper, adrian durham to his credit was able to recognise this enduring stain on the english game.stg wrote:Another point about Martin Taylor and the rest of his get in hard, let them av it type footballers. The problem is that those currently managing our games, especially in the lower leagues but also in the lower half of the prem played their football in an era prior to the full commercialisation of football and many of these dinosaurs have refused to notice the shift. We are currently about a generation behind the rest of the world in our approach to the game and if it wasn't for all the money on offer no player would go anywhere near this league.

That is the problem with the english game, you take the managers of as i would call them the clogger teams and see who there are and you find that there ex-players from the era of 70/80's whose idea of a tackle is not to get the ball but put the player in row z and if you get the ball it's a bonus. These managers won't or can't adapt to the modern game and will continue to use tactic's i:e Blackburn away-there 2 goals were fouls but the ref was crap-that the whole aim is to stop football being played.LDB wrote:They were talking about this on talkshite the other day and even though he's a tiresome jingoistic tubthumper, adrian durham to his credit was able to recognise this enduring stain on the english game.stg wrote:Another point about Martin Taylor and the rest of his get in hard, let them av it type footballers. In the other side of it you have the likes of Roy Hodgson and Martinez who are teaching there players to adapt to the modern game,so entertaining the fans and gaining some success but until the dinosaur likes of Pulis, allardyce etc are pushed aside the english game will always be behind the others.

Agree on both points. Although I've learnt to console myself with the fact that Bendtner would only have missed the open goal anyway.rigsby wrote:I'ld say it was more Adebayors refusal to pass to Big Nick to make it 3-1.
In any case, the way we fell away that season should not have been down to Eduardos injury.

Yeah i was listening to that on talksport yesterday, It was really refreshing to hear someone sticking up for Ramsey and actually suggesting some blame on shrawcross (of course everyone else on the program thought shawcross beyond any blame and in fact should consider stand as the next prime minister!)LDB wrote:They were talking about this on talkshite the other day and even though he's a tiresome jingoistic tubthumper, adrian durham to his credit was able to recognise this enduring stain on the english game.stg wrote:Another point about Martin Taylor and the rest of his get in hard, let them av it type footballers. I think like the above posters say that Shawcross also has alot to answer for.
Ramsey would had been an ideal replacement for Fabregas going into the latter stages of the season, Nasri was a bit out of his depth playing in the Cesc role. The pompey performance springs to mind with Ramsey all round good play capped off with a great goal.
