Re: Walcott - which position is best etc?

I've never seen it put that way, Clock, adding together every penny spent over the years. I suppose it would make Crouch an 80million player! I don't see Sturridge as being "way ahead" of Walcott. Both are emerging as very good players from slower than expected starts. It's harsh to throw ...

Re: Walcott - which position is best etc?

For somebody who is so woeful at crossing his assists are superb. For somebody who can't finish his goals per minute (remember he was benched for much of the early part of last season) is fantastic. If we expect him to score/create at every opportunity or even 1 from 3 then we better be prepared to ...

Re: Walcott - which position is best etc?

I'd explain it by looking at the stats. Last year he was one of the league's most effective performers. His brain farts are focused on even though every player commits them. His moments are exaggerated by gooners because we got so frustrated with his lack of improvement early doors and he got pigeon...

Re: Walcott - which position is best etc?

The silly money argument is very subjective. The hundreds of millions pumped into football by TV money and sponsorship is silly. The cost of a ticket is silly. The cost of a hotdog is very silly. When you put 100k into context, however, it is the going rate in this inflated market. When you look at ...

Re: Walcott - which position is best etc?

I agree SteveO. The £100k is the going rate for players like Walcott and many who called the club "small-time" have been angered by us stepping up to the mark and financially competing to get the contract signed. The "time to think" criticism defeats itself. It implies Walcott ca...

Re: AVB Sacked!!

Crazy decision but the bloke's reputation is now running on fumes following today. He is a million miles from landing another top job in the PL. Maybe Swansea when the spuds take Laudrup is his new level to rebuild himself.

Re: Walcott - which position is best etc?

Some of the comments about Walcott are embarrassing. This notion of him not being good when he has time to think is bizarre. Some on here are quick to call AKBs sheep while bizarrely swallowing comments from Waddle and Townsend hook line... Who was his volleyed goal against where it took an age (ple...

Re: Jack Wilshere the most over rated player in English foot

Part of Jack's problem is he looks like a player who is impatiently trying to make up for the time he has lost. Also, it will be difficult for him to come to terms with the fact he is no longer England's and Arsenal's blue eyed boy. I agree with Quartz that it will take him time to discover the form...

Re: Everton at Home

Many people were saying that our run after losing at home to Dottmund would be disastrous. We did very well. I haven't been here before. I'm giving this team a clean slate with none of my negativity from previous disappointments clouding expectations. I'll settle for competing, genuinely competing r...

Re: Aaron Ramsey - statistics and form etc.

Andy Townsend enjoyed the plaudits for crass commentary the other night for cheering on Marseille but Clive Tyldesley came out with something more offensive to me. He ridiculed Wenger's claim to have stood by Ramsey and said he was often overlooked last season or thrown out on the right. Ramsey play...

Bored so I sent this in on itv programme feedback. Liverpool/Dortmund were the last impressive performances we put together. They feel a while ago! "Dear Sir/Madam, Could you please register my complaint regarding your coverage of Arsenal vs Marseille in the Champions League at the Emirat...

Re: DORTMUND CL GAME THREAD

It wouldn't have surprised me if the penalty had been awarded due to the atmosphere/stage of game and Lewandowski's theatrics but in reality it was never a penalty. If a pen is awarded every time those players prone to hit the earth feel minimal impact then we would regularly see rugby scores. It wo...
