WALCOTT - which position is best etc?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Even the media has cottoned onto him now. The fact that Phil McNulty didn't include him as a banker pick for Hodgson is some statement given what a pair of gormless bastards they are.

He's had a crap season. The 'up-front' experiment died as Project Giroud had to continue. He always seems to get injured when he finally gets on form. I still think another manager could have gotten more from him (and not vastly overpaid the player).

Anyway if there is a testimonial (Which is a novelty in itself these days), surely it'd be against Southampton. Will there be a testimonial for Rosicky too? It's pretty quiet.

Watch Wenger inexplicably drop Iwobi now, just to give Feo a chance to make the Euro squad. Its what Arsene does, uses his position to hand out contracts and favours to his mates. In the world of politics and business, those who use their positional authority to enrich and assist those friendly to them, are usually sacked in disgrace.

There is no rationale for why Walcott should ever come back into the team ahead of Welbeck, Iwobi or Sanchez. So if it does.........its Wenger doing Feo a personal favour.

Did you know when Walcott signed, he and Wenger along with Feo's family celebrated with Chinese takeaway? I bet they all sat in a circle exchanging pleasantries whilst asking each other, politely, to pass the dim sims. The writing was on the wall. That Chinese meal at the Walcott's in 2006 was the beginning of the soft and weak mentality that would dog Arsenal from then on in.

He should have had to prove himself in order to earn more money, but he held us to ransom when he was playing at his best (average for any other decent player) and the fans were already restless about letting players contracts run down, so yet another knee jerk reaction from Wenger. Now we're stuck with him, no club in the world would pay him 140k per week.

And as for Wenger saying he's getting better.... well he was a sure thing for the England squad.... and now??? Spin that Arsene... oh that's right, you don't have to because you'll never be asked.

And as for him playing up front on his own through the middle, forget it, Giroud or not. He has no ball control, is 100% right footed, is too short to be a target man, cannot head the ball.... need I go on??

Yes, he did totally hold us to ransom given the circumstances at the time. It was a piss-take that he even earned £80K a week, let alone £140K a week :banghead:

He is too small to be up front on his own and our striker role is too isolated. If only TOF wasn't so dogmatic about this system we play. It's a nonsense that our number nine is expected to link up play like a number ten (even delivering crosses, FFS), instead of staying central, stretching the defence and attacking the box like any other striker would. Plus, if the three players behind the striker had any flexibility, they'd be attacking the box too and giving the striker much-needed help. Instead we tippy-tappy around the box like cowards :banghead:

Though it does seem that Walcott is so tired of being played on the wing that he abandons the position anyway and goes central.

Walcott's peaked, time to ship out. West Ham will take him, and scoring a goal against us doesn't equate to "coming back to haunt" us will presumably get bandied about.

Stop fucking abaaaat and get Batshuayi.

How much are West Ham going to pay him?

Particularly given that we would expect a ludicrous transfer fee.

He is sitting on 140k a week and the only club that would have paid anywhere near that would have been Rodgers' Liverpool after selling Sterling. We've missed the boat, he's not going to give up his comfortable career to take a 40% pay cut.

We have waited 10 seasons fro Walcott to "come good' to evolve into the player we all hoped he might be - But except for the very occasional few moments when he has scored or contributed greatly to a win, he never has nor ever will 'arrive' and we should get shot of him asap.

Wenger won't though we know that because Wenger wants 'yes men'(sic) around him nodding dogs who believe his every word and are happy to obey his every command and see their bank balance grow week on week.

Podolski was ten times the player walcott is or ever will be, the only thing better walcott had in his locker was pace, that and his total commitment to wenger and his methods...no individuality - Whereas Podolski (even allowing for his weaknesses as a player) was ten times the finisher walcott could ever dream of being...

Podoslki is an example who although highly talented and individual refused to be blinded by wenger's management system and style - Do it his way and earn millions- play like I say and get plenty of wonga - adopt the closeted pussified approach that runs like a disease throughout our club - don't stick your head above the parapet - don't ever back-chat or tell the media what you are truly feeling or what you think - live in trophy mediocrity...get (financially) rich and all will be well.

Walcott is a prime example of that.
