The Banner

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

do you expect him to go into hiding for it? he's the very reason wright isn't slagging off the banner boys any more, i think he's changing some minds and making it known what the wob's want and i like that we finally have that sane voice out there
Hes also providing a focus, a face and a voice. Something tangeable. Before there was only sporadic, faceless banners with no focus or co-ordination. Like him or loathe him (he is called Marmite) he takes a lot of shit but can and does dish it out and backs it up.

He got the memories banner from wherever it had been lying for a couple years and totally re-envigourated the WOBs. (Although Wenger had been doing a good enough job of that himself) Theres about 5 banners now and another big one that has yet to be seen, all because he kick-started things again. If he gets a thrill from being in the spotlight so what? Hes put himself out there and good on him I say.

Are you able to say what the new one is etc yet?

Also I think DT deserves credit he has taken a stand - and in the present atmosphere (well sort of) at the bowl - He has taken a lot of grief, threats...AKB scumbags spitting at him etc and as someone pointed out his kid has had abuse aimed at him - All because he has taken a stand (regardless of what you may or may not think of him and his opinions) for something he whole heartedly believes in...

The time people on here can start having a go at him is when they too are willing to stand and be counted....

Also there will always be a certain amount of 'spin' and sadly ATV and the dopes that run it have once more tried to make friends with both sides of the wenger argument...we all know they are NOT going to criticise wenger - they enjoy the celebrity bit of (claiming to be) the mouth piece for amny Gooners....which they most definitely are Not.

If it was mine Id have a photo up already. The lads that own it havent decided whether to "unveil" it at a game or online first. So I know all this cloak and dagger shit is annoying but its probably the best one yet. (Apart from mine of course  )
Im gonna get into trouble. Ive said too much already.

We urgently need a "The fans built this club" banner this season after his embarrassing comments. Should have been up straight away. Fucking embarrassment. Are the fans gonna take being pissed all over?

Would somebody just slap him out of London ffs

How about a new one that says,

'You keep going on about 30 years in football, but 25 of those are nothing to brag about you arrogant prick, particularly the last 12, in which you have taken £80,000,000 in wages from the club, whilst claiming you wouldn't pay "Dizzying prices" for good players. Hypocrite Twat Cuunt.'

Too wordy?

the banners are definitely starting to get real attention in the media now, but the thing is 4 of our last 6 fixtures are at home.

those banners have got to be brought into the Emirates.
in fact what might get even bigger attention than a banner being shown is the sight of Arsenal stewards trying to confiscate a banner off Arsenal fans. I would have thought that the clock end is probably the best place for this - the away supporters would just look on in amusement and these blocks tend to be populated by more tourist fans who would probably just sit there taking photos.

hahaha I love that :D

How about a banner for home games that simply says ''GO WENGER!' ?

It could be read two ways so the militant AKB and the tyrannical stewards wouldnt know what to do about it!

Perhaps they can stick on a Pet Shop Boys record and we can get a song going as well.

That's a good point about the 4 games at home. Get the banners out in the Furher's own version of Nuremberg and it'll get the attention it deserves. The club then have two options; one of which is to ignore it and acknowledge that there is open hostility to Wanker or the other option is to try to remove it and the people responsible which looks terrible. Remember how bad the Manure stewards and staff were made to look when they tried to stop the anti-Glazer banners? That is what we need. I know it's a big risk, I know it takes a bit of bottle but not doing anything gives the impression that all is well and good and the club can and will hide behind that for the whole summer.

I'm a bit loath to get too involved in this as it feels a bit hypocritical for me to be telling others to take the risk of getting banned when I'm risking nothing myself...

BUT -

(As well as banners) what about A4 sized print-outs with "Wenger Out" printed on them? Easy enough to get them into the ground. A few dozen or a hundred held up by enough people bunched together would attract media attention and make it difficult for stewards to confiscate them.

That's a good idea, and totally achievable. Or alternatively, how about white handkerchiefs, like the Spanish fans do, albeit after they have put up with 10 bad games and not 10 bad years.

Surely the fuckers wouldn't stop people from taking hankies in? Imagine the mess.

Think a hundred people should be enough
