Re: Spuds
As much as I hate them and really can't be bothered with them, they've had a freak season where late goals and bursts of goals have won them matches. That won't happen next year and they'll be back to their usual 5th, 6th, 7th. They don't have the finances or name to compete with the biggest clubs for players to significantly improve them, so won't go much further than where they are now. This is their only chance to win something and like Leicester, everything seems to have gone their way this year.

Re: Spuds
Thanks for pointing that out ! I expect there'll be more along shortly to point out the bleeding obvious too. Too pissed off to even worry or care whether they'll finish above us now. Just hope and pray Leicester finish the job.OneBardGooner wrote:SteveO 35 wrote:Chill out me old mucker. 7 points behind Leicester, and with 3 of their next 4 being Man Ure (who kept up the chase today), Stoke away and the Chavs at the Bridge (who will take great delight in sticking one on them)Eboue-Why? wrote:Well Steve, either you're paranoid that this Forum is awash with infidels or you're a sandwich short of a picnic!!SteveO 35 wrote:No wind up my friend - there does seem to be a few on here who can't wait to post on this thread immediately in the aftermath of them either winning or drawing, which makes me wonder as most Gooners I know are so fucked off that they wouldn't want to mention it or contemplate the unthinkable. Anyway, regardless of that, its all going to plan and by the end of April they will be cut adrift below us.
Posting straight after a game means I want them to claim the title? Get a grip man ffs. You're insulting me tbh. I'm not ashamed to say that for the past few weeks I've been shitting my pants at the thought they could do it. THE worst thing that could happen in football. Your confidence that they'll implode is fine but there's no guarantee it'll happen. Leicester's win today makes me believe that thankfully they'll go on and do it now. But mate, do me a favour, stop thinking or insinuating I might like the Spuds to do it. Call me a c u n t, call me a wanker, call me an old bastard in my 50s but never ever go down the road that you've gone down.
Thank you....rant over
Their ship has long since sailed
10 minutes to go and the scumfilth are 3 nil up against manure
As for Man Ure - I hope they lose every fucking game between now and the end of the season and still keep LVG. That was like watching our backline at Upton Park for 10 minutes - spineless, useless *word censored*

Re: Spuds
Late goals and bursts of goals are how titles are won. They may not have the budget to buy the elite players but they're currently outplaying Arsenal, a team that has had twenty thousand years of CL football and all its wonderful prestige to amass a quality squad. There were those who believed that theyd never finish above us again, or at least not under Wenger. Well, its happening. There's no reason why it wont happen again. They've currently got at least as good a squad as us and a better manager.Perryashburtongroves wrote:As much as I hate them and really can't be bothered with them, they've had a freak season where late goals and bursts of goals have won them matches. Re: Spuds
This season has showed the difference between simply having a good team, and having a competent manager. I would argue, most of Spurs squad(and Leicester's) is average, but they have a manager who has a proper tactical approach, and seems to properly motivate his players. In contrast, we have a squad that plays the same way, regardless of the opposition, and as yesterday showed, when things are going wrong, there is fuck all attempt by management to change things. As for motivation, Wenger has put together a squad that is ridiculously weak minded, and has been coached to see 4th place as success. It's no coincidence that in this sort of environment, our best players, (RVP springs to mind), will question the way the club is being run, and will leave when they realise, we are standing still as a club.
Re: Spuds
I was sitting next to a guy at the pub (yes I was at a pub where today's game was shown
), turns out he was a sorry excuse of an Arsenal fan. He was actually cheering for Spuds to win in fear of United coming from behind to unfairly steal away our VT in the calm of night
I must say, of people I dont know that is statistically speaking the kind of fan I mostly run into

Re: Spuds
We started to accept inferiority to Chelsea and United around 2006, then City around 2011. Whenever a team shows signs of going past us, we dont do anything about it, we sit in idle and allow it to happen, then just accept being inferior. The danger is, I dont think Wenger is strong enough mentally, or tactically to stop Spurs march.
Pochettio is miles better than Arsene. Kane is miles better than any of our strikers (are we accepting Giroud, Welbeck, Walcott as our number 9?). They have the best defence in the league by a long way - conceded 25 with the nearest rival conceding 31).
Dont be surprised if Arsene allows Spurs position above us to become permanent. Then once it is cast in stone, and when Tottenham beat us, we will be told to settle down 'because its Tottenham'. Just like we are told to sit down and take losing because 'its Barcelona', a couple of weeks ago 'it was Man United'. 'It was Chelsea'. 'It was City'.
There literally is that sentiment that when we lose against specific teams, supposedly no Arsenal fan is supposed to express dissatisfaction because 'its team X - what did you expect?'.
I really do doubt Wenger's capacity to see of this Spurs surge. We need to be careful here, because Wenger is weak, and has it in him to simply lay down and let Spurs rape us - just like he allowed United and Chelsea to dance away from us and win trophies whilst we look on, and then subsequently Man City.
And another thing, thank fuck this team developed a few years after Gareth Bale left them. Because if they still had Bale..........

Re: Spuds
I hate Spurs but while we signed Walcott, Chambers and the Ox they signed Alli, Dier and Kane. As an England fan they are looking the best prospect for success since 1990. You can't deny how well they have played this season. I'm just pleased the gap is 7 points as I never want to see the spuds win the league.
They look solid but it depends more about keeping their players than it does about being a one season wonder.
They don't pay wages like the usual top 4 do so we shall see.
We need to sort our own shit out and build a team around players who reach their potential and perform well more often.

Re: Spuds
The scum have had a HUGE slice of luck throughout this season. The normal top 4 big clubs have all had bad seasons for many reasons and two tiny clubs (Leicester and the scum) have benefited and taken advantage because both have been incredibly lucky with no long term injuries to key players and because both have pragmatic managers that have a certain level of in-game tactical nous. 2 or 3 seasons ago neither of these sides would have finished top 4. Leicester will win this PL by default.
Next year Citeh, Manure, Chavs and the Mousers will spend and build stronger teams and the scum will finish back out between 5th and 10th whilst I wouldn't be amazed at all if Leicester become the first team to win the PL and get relegated the very next season!!
Either way, I don't think Leicester will be top 4 next season.
It's absolutely shameful that Wenger threw away a great opportunity for us to win our first title in 12 years by not strengthening in the areas that everyone and their blind cousin could see we needed strengthening in.
