Regardless of what happens in the Semi-final, Simeone will at the very least have equaled Wenger's CL record of reaching two semi-finals and 1 final. He has also won the Europa league, this in 4 years at at Athletico, but some would still prefer to have Mr. 30 years in charge :banghead:

Case in point - Graeme souness rips the mentality of the Arsenal team apart in his post most verdict at Old Trafford.

He is spot on with everything he says ... then spoils it all by saying ''Arsene Wenger must be tearing his hair out'' .... as your rightly point out, not linking it to the man in charge of everything.

This is the man who also called it "Wenger's greatest ever achievement" when the wankers of 2011/12 recovered from the 8-2 drubbing and various other ass whippings to claim the 4th placed trophy

This mornings rapers calling Simeone "the best manager in the world" That should make Wenger's lip curl in a sneer, after all he hasn't qualified for CL 17 years in a row has he??

His answer will probably be "Everyone thinks they have the prettiest wife" Remember that little gem?? Directed at the multi, multi trophy winner Ferguson, I think.

There was also AC Milan in these six years. Anyway if he wants to avoid those sides he should try winning the group stage.

Its the same old reasoning, the club are just as happy to qualify out of the group, as they are to finish 4th in the EPL.
The extra investment to attempt go the whole way in either competition is not considered viable, its as though the main shareholder is more interested in making a profit than winning trophies.

I can barely bother posting anymore, but yet again last night showed up Wenger as the fraud that he is.

first up West Ham go 2-0 down. I settled back looking forward to the expected West Ham comeback. Hmm they only scored 1 goal.
but this was against Manchester United, isnt this the team that AKBs and the club itself have been using as the example of "be careful what you wish for" Arent they supposed to be in turmoil and struggling to recover from losing a long term manager. Well the thing is they won the league just 3 years ago and here they are 3 years later back at Wembley and with a good to chance to win the FA Cup. It took us 9 years to get into this same position WHILST keeping Wenger!

then I see little Athletico Madrid are playing mighty Barcelona. They beat them 2-0 and go through to the semis of the CL!!
Hang on a minute, Barcelona beat us 5-1 and we were told they were the best team in the world and so defeat was "understandable and acceptable"

Lies, lies, lies. Wenger is being exposed big time this season

IF the club had any ambition they would be on the phone to Simeone and ask him to name his price for managing us in the PL next season.
sadly of course this is a club with no longer any ambition, a club drifting along, but still happy to charge the highest ticket prices in world football.
what a shambles :banghead: :banghead:

Wenger is still resolute in his belief he can win the CL. He clearly still hasnt had his grown up moment - that moment in life you realise your not going to become an astronaut or movie star. What has to happen for the penny to drop with him?

He wants to win the CL badly, yet at the same time wont sign the necessary quality, or adjust his 'principles'.

Typical of his arrogance, to think he can win the CL without sacrifice or compromise.

Simeone is on 4.4m a year. Wenger is on 8m a year. For a manager who prides himself on finding value in football, the fact there a better and cheaper alternatives to his own position is irony at its best.

'you dont need to spend big to win', 'spending doesnt equal success' - it also applies to the managerial position.

Stan Collymore on twitter

"If Arsenal don't stump up for Simeone, however much, they are absoultely barmy.
What a manager"

Piers Morgan on twitter

"Look at Simeone conducting the crowd.
What passion, what intensity
Arsenal should break the bank for him"

Just boted the strangest thing: before we faced Barca in the last 16, quite a few fans (you know who you are) were pre-emptively making excuses to justify elimination:

"We are just going to go out and enjoy the day"

"It's Barca so we can't expect a win"

"You can't compete with Barca since the Spanish government pay off all their debts" (my personal favourite. Yeah the government don't help capital club Real Madrid they help Catalonian Barca now)
:coffeespit:

So imagine my surprise when after last night I saw the following:

1. Diego Simeone earns less than half what Arsene Wenker does
2. Atletico Madrid make less than a quarter of what Arsenal do on match days
3. The Atletico first 11 cost less than half what Arsenal's cost
4. The Atletico wage bill is less than half Arsenal's
5. Atletico play in a much smaller ground
6. Atletico have sold/lost: Arda Turan, Courtois, Diego Costa, Thiago, Falcao (when he was tops). And yet they've continued their incredible success.

Still. I wouldn't want Simeone at AFC as he "doesn't fit in with our philosophy"

You know the one...bottle it, play predictable tedious shite, talk bollocks in press, take selfies in dressing room after beating 10-man rubbish side, get knocked out in humiliating fashion in CL, scrape 4th place, concede pathetic goals in same manner, rinse and repeat...with nothing serious.

I think the board see investment to win the CL as prohibitive. A half arsed investment might be enough to win the EPL and if it's not it will still be enough to qualify for CL the following season. Basically Arsenal is now about the financial return on the investment.

What makes that so insane though is that while they are so concerned about the initial outlay is that they allow Wenger to pay bang average players extortionate wage demands, so we are right up there with the big clubs, yet our results aren't???

Or maybe it is NOT the board.but rather Wenger, who doesn't want to spend the money, yet is quite prepared to pay his little sycophants for their loyalty. However, or whichever way you cut and dice anything at the club, Wenger is at the heart of every problem.

Under Simeone we might actually go back to the effective 1-0 to the Arsenal days :rubchin:
