As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

"Don't joke, if we sneak 4th place with an FA Cup win LVG's turned us into Arsenal"
Cheered me up for some reason but there is an element of truth to it, and yet LVG is under more pressure than AW ironically
All you Wenger outs, be careful what you wish for, we could end up like United..... OK still confused by this.
I know Cas, his team is much worse than ours but he is within touching distance of us in the league and through to the semi's of the Cup and yet fans are still trying to hound him out at the club and the media are all over the slightest slip up he makes.
Yet AW is still the 'Prof' to many in the media and we get the 'careful what you wish for' comments
I'd also add that he inherited a shit team, spent money wastefully and has been rightly lambasted for it, but is very gradually turning that shit team round after only 2.5 years yet his job will never be secure but AW is secure it seems no matter what
This is what we get when we have an unsackable manager with absolutely no pressure on him from above to do anything other than scrape into fourth place. Likewise the players don't give a shit, because they know we're not serious about winning anything.
A task that is so bewilderingly easy to accomplish that literally any other manager should be able to manage it when you consider what we pay out in wages.
Yet Wenger is still lauded by the media as some kind of fiscal Jesus. Why?

I wouldn't be surprise if the team gets a bonus if they finish in the top 4. Mind you, they'd better start collecting some points or they'll lose it. I hope

each season the club target to finish in the top 4.
anywhere in there is fine, and if they finish 3rd or 2nd then that's great.
If they don't finish in the top 4 then nothing will change.
Until this mentality changes all they'd do is speak of how they'll endeavour to finish in the top 4 the nest season and so we'll get the groundhog day repeats of the last 10 years for ever and ever.
I'm fucking walking away if Kroenke gives that vermin bastard a contract extension. I never thought it would come to this but I'll turn my back on the pricks if L'Asshole stays on beyond next season.
Instead of all you fuckwits pumping your money into making banners, ye should organise a collection to pay for a sniper to put a bullet between le cock's eye's - for starters it would be a lot cheaper, but more importantly, many Gooners like myself would be a lot more willing to contribute significant funds to the appeal

Yeah I think when the season begins the players are only geared towards a top 4 finish ... so much so that when an unexpected opportunity arises to win the title like it has this season with the usual top sides falling away early on ... the mentality just isn't there inside the club to grasp it.
Obviously they'll talk of their title ambitions but the complacency that is always under the surface shows they're lacking any real conviction to go and win it. And this mental state always comes from the manager who just doesn't really have a big club mentality. Wenger will always be ready to make excuses for his players failures and the players know it. And he will not even acknowledge his own failures. He really is a coward and a fraud.
I remember after we lost to Man United and Swansea, and the pressure was coming on Wenger, and he said, he had kept the club successful by finishing in the top 4 consistently. When you consider that we were supposedly in the middle of a title challenge, this was like a message to the players that as long as we finish 4th, this season is a success. I think this sort of loser mentality perfectly suits players like Giroud, Walcott, Ramsey etc. It also explains why any top player we have, ends up leaving, because they soon wake up to the reality of life at Arsenal, in which mediocrity is celebrated. Can anyone really we see Ozil or Sanchez hanging around much longer? to waste their careers away.

I honestly do not think it will change anything, and that is what is really depressing.
The club will argue that Wenger is best placed to lead us back into the top 4
I do not think ending up outside top 4 would change anything either. Only he wouldn't be able to brag about this particular record of his.
The only thing that could work in our situation is real fan dissatisfaction, which we are not seeing much of. One banner getting so much attention I think would be a bit of a joke in most other clubs
