THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Can anyone really we see Ozil or Sanchez hanging around much longer? to waste their careers away.
Good post. The only thing that might keep Sanchez and Ozil here for a few seasons is that there's no feasible option above us in the food chain, apart from Bayern. Don't think either would go back to Barcelona, Madrid or play for the enemy. Also you'd hope Arsenal wouldn't be dumb enough to repeat the van Persie mistake.

I honestly do not think it will change anything, and that is what is really depressing.

The club will argue that Wenger is best placed to lead us back into the top 4
I do not think ending up outside top 4 would change anything either. Only he wouldn't be able to brag about this particular record of his.

The only thing that could work in our situation is real fan dissatisfaction, which we are not seeing much of. One banner getting so much attention I think would be a bit of a joke in most other clubs
The apathy is the problem. You would think most people by now, deep down, know we need a change of manager.
Unfortunately they just won't do anything about it.

Have been saying for a long time now how Wengers permanent white flag waving psychology has to have a negative knock on effect on his already mentally brittle players. How does listening to your so called Manager coming out with classics such as ;

" I would happily take 2nd for the next 20 years"

or

" .....fourth place is like a trophy "

.......not seep into the system and fester, subliminally feeding this loser mentality that ultimately sees the players reap what the manager sow's. If he bangs on long enough about this top 4 Nirvana why wouldn't acceptance become the norm, why wouldn't there be this famed ' mental strength' that sees 4th or occasionally third claimed joyously amid dressing room delirium. Surely players listening to this pre season or worse during it, will take it on board and this gangrenous ideology spreads through out the club.

Whatever happened to the Shankly saying ;

" First is first, second is nowhere..."

Could you imagine Wenger using that as a mantra? Like fu*k, too clever a man for that,'nowhere 'doesn't get you 8 million reasons to squeeze home fourth. First thing the new manager should do when that joyous moment comes around and a new era beckons is pin that saying every where in this second best mentality of a club because right now this loser mentality dominates.

Wenger, master of psych ops :banghead:

Its a fucking disgrace. Forget beating the likes of Barcelona ect - or even being competitive with them. Wenger is struggling against the lower table clubs despite having players like Sanchez and Ozil on the books. He pleads poverty but has Walcott who is on 140k a week and sits on the bench. How many other teams have a 140k a week luxury player?

He is so tactically naive and shows incredible limitations. I dont understand why those in the media and former players defend this horribly low standard of management. Why wont anyone of importance within punditry and media come out and flatly say 'this is shit'.

I can absolutely see ozil joining Bayern (or citeeh) in the summer - he had a good working relationship with ancelotti at Madrid, and could any of us see him reject a move back home for a club that is winning big trophies every season ?
Him going to citeeh wouldn't shock me either tbh - he is def a pep type of player and again I believe that he has had enough of playing under this senile old c.unt at this stage :roll:

Sanchez is a different story and is not as straight forward imo - pep sold him at barca so on face of it you might question how highly he rates him, but then again he had other highly rated players ahead of him and thus could afford to let him go. At citeeh he would have aguero and de bryne would be ahead of him, but after that ? Would anyone have sterling or navas ahead of him ? I know I certainly wouldn't. However, we have to be honest and acknowledge that sanchez has had a poor season - regardless of the reasons he hasn't been good, and where a lot of clubs would have signed him last summer, now I don't think so many would be interested

Alan Shearer has written off Arsenal's chances of regaining the Barclays Premier League title until they buy a world class striker.

He said: 'They won't win the league until they sign a top class, world-class striker, who can get 25 or 30 goals a season.'

Well that should put paid to that then. As soon as Wenger gets told what is needed he digs his heels in. He is not going to get told by a former footballer, or anybody else for that matter, how to run run his club

Borrowed this picture from the 'Thanks for the Memories' thread (care of HN)

Wenger and all the pussified vadge's that purport to be Arsenal players should be made to take a long hard look at this picture and ask themselves:

Have I earned the right to wear the Arsenal shirt, do I have this kind of passion, dedication, respect and love for the club, the shirt, the badge, the fans?

I dont post here much but after yesterday I feel compelled to vent.

"I bought (Alexis) Sanchez, I bought (Mesut) Ozil, I bought Cech, I bought Gabriel last year.The problem at the moment is finding the players who guarantee you are a better team after"

These are Arsene's words last summer after buying NO outfield players. People have defended him for NOT strengthening his squad year after year - suggesting his hands were tied - but no excuses this time. Arsenal are swimming in money, and Arsene is a Fraud. Its sad to say this has he has done so much for the club, but his is simply untrustworthy. Here we are, with the best chance to win the title in 12 years, with our main rivals in managerial turmoil or transition, and Wenger now talks of fighting for top 4. What a f*cking fraud.

Even if he does goes against his principles and spends £150m, I would not trust him to buy the right kind of players (sheep) or strengthen in the right areas.

Now... forget money... we have a good squad RIGHT NOW! Its the lack of desire and lack of tactical nous (particularly the playing of out-of-form players) which has really f*cked us - every time we have a bit of pressure we buckle. How can we expect the winning mentality from players if the manager doesn't lead by example?

Wenger... thanks for the memories. Thanks for the stadium. Do the honourable thing and step aside - let someone else have a chance. Problem is... Wenger is not an honourable man.
