Boss Wenger has fanned the flames ahead of that protest, which is aimed at the way the club is run but will also partially be a message to him personally, by...

* Claiming criticism of him is "overboard" and that he deserves better after proving his commitment to Arsenal by snubbing a string of approaches from other clubs.

* Insisting the Gunners won't sign "flashy" names just to appease fans and warning it will be even tougher to end their title drought next season.

* Suggesting the "difficult climate" created by fans at the Emirates has contributed to this season's title bid tailing off in recent weeks.

* Accusing some of the protest groups of trying to manipulate fans, being ego- and agenda-driven and having "not a lot behind" them, and.

* Hitting back at critics who have questioned his players' character.

Wenger, who has turned down interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona since being appointed in 1996, said: "When we built the stadium, the banks demanded that I signed for five years. I did it.

"Do you want me to tell you how many clubs I turned down during that period?

"I think I have shown that I am committed. The banks wanted the technical consistency to guarantee that we have a chance to pay them back.

Blaming our home fans - apparently away from home we are championship winners (despite taking 7 points fewer than Leicester having played more games). He's kept his quiet for a few weeks but now his ego has gotten the better of him and he can't resist sneering at his detractors.

Top story on BBC - only thing making today's game worth watching.

This has always been my point when I suggested that the fans can drive him out IF they stay the course and continue to crank up the pressure on the old c.unt. Bottom line is that he doesnt accept being questioned. He has NEVER accepted being questioned as has always reacted very badly when he has been questioned. The difference is that in the past he was only occasionly questioned and even then it was just a small number that questioned him - this time he is facing widespread questioning and it is being taken further with planned protests. This time the meeja are picking up on it to the degree that even they disected his "we are top of the league in away results" thus highlighting his tendancy to spout bullshite when trying to deflect  Charlie Nick has said on sky's website that the fans are right in protesting (allbeit in a peaceful way  ) so they too say that this is unacceptable, and henry winter went so far as to say that we are not protesting enough.

I would suggest that this should be a very dodgy time for the club - any other club would probably let the fans protest go ahead in the hope that the chants will quickly fade as soon as the team start banging in goals today (which they def will). This is AFC though and we are the north korea of football clubs, so interference is likely from the stewards when inspecting fans at the turnsyles - hopefully the fans will sneak the placards in under their jumpers/coats/hoodies, and if the stewards intervene when the protest starts, then this will be a major pr own goal for the club and one that will receive massive exposure in the meeja

This is our time folks - he is teethering on the edge and if our fans are vociferous in our protests today then it might just tip him over the edge.
Please make it happen

It's kinda sad that it's come to this but TBH he has brought it on himself, it is self inflicted. He has been allowed to get away for so much for so long that it is actually him and not us who has the sense of entitlement. By allowing him to get away with so much (both the board and the fans) he now cannot accept that everyone is turning on him. In fact he seems completely mystified by it.

But as I said it's self inflicted, he is his own worst enemy, he needed to come out and say he understands how we feel, understand that we are disappointed and what he plans to do about making it right. Instead he lashes out like a cornered animal and turns on his supporters?? His MASSIVE ego will just not let him admit he's wrong.

The sympathy for him is fleeting, HE NEEDS TO GO!!

What's the bet he tries to get the players to turn to him if they score today.... "Go out, play for me, show them how much I mean to you" Walcott, Ramsey and Groud probably will. But lets be honest, what chance do they have of scoring??

Everything this bloke does stinks of predictability. From his post match interviews, he's pathetic 70 mins subs. No one believes and more the shit that comes from his mouth.
He's stale, the club has gone stale, and the players are bottlers and average.

I never wanted it to end with him facing a barrage of abuse but if he continues to trip out this contemptible shite then he's asking for trouble. Piss off to Real Madrid or City mate if you're going to try and throw that at us every time it goes badly wrong......wonder if they're still interested in such a perennial loser seasons on from when they last showed an interest. Even if they did he wouldn't survive a single season in Madrid and City fire a manager who could still win the CL for them and when they made the announcement still had a chance of all 4 trophies

The guy is just becoming a complete and utter embarrassment to the club and himself

exactly Madrid, Barca even Chelsea or City wouldn't of put up with 12 years of shit. He would of been lucky to last two seasons.

All going well until they had the front to say the timing of the protest was wrong, Wenger wriggles off the hook again.
This the same Merson who compared him to a squatter in your house?
And no mention of blaming the fans.

That's exactly what I thought. One of the excuses was we have finished above chelski, manure, pool and are up there with city. Well panel with the exception of pool all of the said sides have won the prem on quite a few occasions since our last triumph.

Anyone see the cazorla interview on sky ? He basically talked up the support they have received from the fans and said that the team needed to change. He was given two different opportunities to come out and defend wenger over the protests, and each time he deflected it and on one occasion he apologised to the fans rather than defend his manager.
I am a big believer in the saying that sometimes "it isn't what you say, but what you don't say", and what santi didn't say was quite telling to me

Stelling's reaction disappointed me greatly tbh - he basically came out and suggested that we would drop down whenever wenger f.ucks off, and he pointed out that we are above all the other so called big teams whilst ignoring the fact that we are behind two clubs who aint fight to lace the boots of The Arsenal  He asked why fans of these other clubs aren't protesting - has he missed the fact that the victims fans got rid of Rodgers, manure fan's have spent most of the season calling for lvg's sacking and of course the fact that chavski's board recognised the shit that they were in and duly sacked their manager
The part on the timing is comical - are we supposed to wait until the season is over to protest ? :?

I also remember him insisting that Fabregas and Nasri were NOT leaving the club. Within a week they had both left. So in my opinion he was either stupid or telling porkys! :banghead:

Jeff Stelling can be a bit of a clueless knob at times. He's a very good front man for the show and probably a nice positive guy who likes most people he meets ... but when it comes to understanding fan protests and frustrations, he hasnt got edge to him.

I remember a few years back the Blackburn fans protesting about their long running situation with the owners and management. At the final whistle of a game Blackburn had won at Ewood Park, the cameras showed fans in the stands holding up their banners. Stelling was incredulous ''You have to wonder what the mindset of fans is when you have won and you STILL protest'' he bellowed out

Only someone totally missing the point could think one win means you stop the protests for that game. And its the same with Arsenal. A win tonight and people (Niall Quinn for example) will claim the critics have been answered  .

Its why this whole ''keep it respectful so we get the media on our side'' thing is a load of bollocks. The media is mostly full of thickos who will never get the situation. So fuck 'em!

Someone 40,000 on the season ticket waiting list got offered a ticket :coffeespit:

So much for the bullshit being peddled that giving up a season ticket was no form of protest as they'd just be snapped up by someone else.

With the prospect of Arsehole Wanker being in charge again next season they can't give the fucking things away.
