England's back four looks particularly weak but have some decent players in midfield and upfront. The fact it is a 24 team tournament and there is a last 16 stage means it is harder to get knocked out than stay in!The championship looks open to me the usual suspects will be in the mix and England should make the last 8 maybe last 4 with a decent draw and a bit of luck.

They may as well just have a go and at least play some attacking football especially with that defence. No point doing what they did four years ago stuck everyone behind the ball against Italy and played for penalties....England the international team with one of if not the worst record in penalty shoot outs!

Not really convinced about the defence. Not that it matters. You can finish 3rd and still qualify and given the general dumbing down of the competition, England should be able to reach the last 8 before getting destroyed by a proper team.

So only Wilshere made it from Arsenal. Doesn't really say much about Wenger and his "great" development of young English players, does it?

No.

That IS the best we can do.

The players are shite. The national team is shite. The tournament will, as always, be shite.

We're England. It's what we do.

I've defended Theo on here many times and I still stand by my reasoning that when on top form and in the right position he is a very good addition to any team, he just seemed to have totally given up on his season and that's unacceptable, sell him.

As for the England squad, looks ok but as usual we will get found out at tournament level although we qualified so easily, hope I'm wrong and we go on and win it.

I'd take Townsend over Theo. I can't see any way Theo is going to improve, whereas Townsend puts in a shift and provides more of a goal threat.
As I said o would take townsend now but he is no great player and as I also said if you look at their stats and I haven't you will see that up until this season I am sure Theo pisses all over townsend (water sports anyone) in goals and assists.
It was said on MOTD that Townsend had been at the Scum eight years but had only started 22 games. I suspect that Flamini, Gervinho and Sanogo all have better stats as well.

Hopefully Wally is so pissed off with missing out that he'll be demanding a transfer. If the Shammers with their freebie stadium are daft enough to part with £20m+ then they can have the useless fucker

I wouldn't be too worried, lads. When your team is getting that early plane home from the Euros, our team will already be home at least a week.

Call me crazy bit I would of taken Feo Feo

He's been shocking this season and doesn't really deserve to be on that plane - but looking at that squad there isn't too much pace in that side and its overloaded with central midfielders and strikers.

Can't believe I'm going to say this but I would have also. He's better than Townsend, although that's not saying much. As shite as we all know Theo is most of the time he does have the tendency to have a short brilliant burst at unexpected times. Another pacey guy wouldn't hurt in this England squad.

Roy was right to pick Wilshere, you can't beat natural ability although his fitness levels might be an issue. Think it will be a laugh with Vardy and the Spursy mouth breather up front as an actual goal threat for a change.

Bullshit - It's a football team not an international athletics squad !! Feo may be (or was) fast but his brain & feet ain't !!. Plus he's gutless with no heart. I love him otherwise. :barscarf: :barscarf:

Maybe, but wally has played f.uck all football for the last few months, and you cant be bringing too many players that are not match fit - again with wally it also comes back to the fact that he is always a threat that he MIGHT do something, but in reality he rarely does

I am waiting for my second favourite football cliché (first is Arsene has a war-chest) that being "there is no reason why Oierland cannot win/do well in this tournament" .. Put money on the "Leicester City effect" or such nonsense bring spouted.. Then when the inevitable happens like 2012 it becomes "we have the best fans at least"
There a massive difference between people who go along for the trip and the booze and people who invest emotionally in a team..Best behaved possibly, best fun probably best fans I always had reservations on that.

Walcott has still been quick all season and it hasn't stopped him from being complete and utter garbage - why would the summer be any different?

On another note Shearer has basically come out and said that Rooney is past it and England's third-best striker BUT should still be crowbarred into the side as a 10 or CM. Which is exactly what Hodgson will do. Zero place for him in that side and picking him will be criminal.

Cannot believe nobody is questioning the inclusion of the hapless Rooney. The fat plodder should be nowhere near the squad let alone the team but because he's captain he's guaranteed to start every game. Can anyone even remember the last time he scored (not with a skank granny btw)? Living off past reputations me thinks.

Can't decide who is more overrated - Henderson or Barkley.

There's at least 6 I'd leave out of that squad.

Anyone see the hilariously deluded Jermain Defoe on SlySports last night whining about not getting picked? This bog average (on a good day) to shit (most days) PL striker is one of the most deluded people I've ever heard speak. Every time he doesn't get what he thinks his talent deserves he takes to TV to have a fucking whine.

Remember when his FUCKING INSANELY OUT OF WHACK EGO brought us this little beauty;

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... hance.html

"Creating a global brand for the Jermain Defoe name" :coffeespit:

I wonder how many millions of the Earth's population aspire to be like Jermain Defoe?? Seriously, if the cúnt branded a Jermain Defoe Cure For AIDS, then AIDS related deaths would sky-rocket.

What a prize prick.
