Topside Northbank wrote:He has done a really decent job so far and looks a good addition to the squad. We could of done with getting him in the summer as we would of been spared Flamini and especially Arteta (WBA away) as back ups to le Coq who was having a really good season until injured at WBA.

Likes to shoot from distance but that as above will be coached out of him.Santi Cazorla when he signed had an impressive record of scoring spectacular goals from outside the box for Villarreal and Malaga but that soon got coached out of him!
Nail on head. 8)

He has done well, all things considered. He is a far far more effective midfielder than Ramsey. He keeps it simple, passes and moves. And as said, likes a dinger from outside the box. Unfortunately, as also said, Wenger will turn him into Ramsey MKII by this time next season. :|

His movement is excellent, his passes crisp, simple and often forward and he seems OK positionally.

I'll reserve judgement but I think he's done really well so far.

That would have been our resident expert  on world football
I love the fact that ItchyBaba obviously thinks the term "camel farmer" is not racial stereotyping (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38458&p=992820&hili ... er#p992820) but the words "Sit by your keyboard mate stealing credit card details thinking your something - clearly bullied at school" (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38548&p=1005114&hil ... p#p1005114) are.

I think this guy will go to a high level next season. An offseason with the squad and confidence in his spot in the first team will see him really excel. Also think once he scores a couple he will get a hatful.

Don't see it mate - if Xhaka signs he will be first choice and sadly we all know that Wenger will crowbar Ramsey into that midfield as often as possible. So he'll be fighting with Coq (one of Wenger's favourites being a youth/cheapy) for the odd start.

Shame as he actually did himself credit with his performances and simple yet effective style towards the end of the season. If he can build on that he could turn into a really decent asset for the squad.

Unfortunately I think you are right here. Ramsey will be first choice no matter how shit he is. A shame really, because given a good run of games Elneny could develop into a really decent midfielder.

Agree with you 100% and it's a real shame. Ramsey will be in the squad in midfield role or in wide role no matter what happens.

I don't know whether Wenger still trusts coquelin after his red card at WHL that effectively lost us the game and a possible energiser towards a title tilt. Had we picked up a win and 3 points there the team may have regained some belief and confidence. Wenger actually slated him immediately after the game, and rarely started him after his return from suspension. I think the midfield is between Elneny, Granit, Jack, Cazorla with Ozil. Elneny wasn't a revelation but he seemed to grow into the team and seems to have a goal threat in him that puts him ahead of Coquelin.

If we play the same formation (which we will because Wenger doesn't do tactics) then in order of preference (Wenger's) for those 2 midfield spots it will be:
1) Ramsey
2) Xhaka
3) Cazorla
4) Elneny
5) Coq

Maybe Ramsey will get injured at the Euros and do us all a favor, but he will be the first name on the team sheet every week. If not then Wenger will find him a spot on the right or something.

I don't think he does and probably never did. Wenker called him back as a last hope when everything was starting to fall apart regarding his midfield options and Coq surprised them all by playing rather well. I think wenker couldn't drop him anymore and was happy about his internal solutions shit but I think he has never trusted him anyway. Why else he was loaned out to some shitholes every season? And now that Elneny settled in he and Ramsey played the midfield role and Coq was left out. I don't think he trusts Coq at all.
