The 'I told you so' EU referendum - Officially the Worst Thread Ever
Re: EU referendum - What will you vote?
I don't think anybody hates you. There are many reasons why I want to come out of the EU and a large one is our lack of democracy. Cameron spent ages negotiating a deal in the EU and he came away with nothing. We can't decide anything for ourselves.

Re: EU referendum - What will you vote?
I must have missed all of the "I hate Albanians" posts. Neither Albania, Serbia nor Kosovo are in the EU, their citizens dont enjoy freedom of movement within the EU and as far as I can see these comments have no reference or relevance to Albanians. Nobody has suggested that they're any better than you by virtue of being British.KaQaK wrote:WOW, I mean WOW...
I was not aware we are hated so much! I guess you probably don't want any of us (Albanians) in here neither?
I live in Kosovo, and do you have any idea how i grew up? My whole 40 years were like prison, and we still don't have free movement. What's wrong with me being able to move freely or being able to visit UK. The only place I can go without visa is Albania, do any of you have any idea how hard it is for us. In 2014/2015 I was rejected in more than 200 job positions across Europe (mostly in Germany). The worst one was: despite your superb education and experience, you are not coming in question for the position. I end up again going back to hell, to secure better future for my kids.
None of you is better than any of us, nor are we better, we are just different from one another, there is a lot we can learn from each other, for the sake of better future. I am deeply disappointed what I have read in this topic, but it is your opinion and i respect that. I have never been in EU nor UK, I just don't understand why do we deserve to be hated!?!?! Just because I'm an Albanian, Serbian, Turk or any other hated nation?
Sorry that you haven't enjoyed the relatively privileged upbringing and comfort that most UK citizens do - but is the country meant to throw open its doors to anybody that wants to come in?
As casgooner mentioned immigration is only one problem people have with the EU.

Re: EU referendum - What will you vote?
You're missing the point. It's not all about immigration in fact it hardly is at all . Britain has a history chequered at times but has mainly had control of it's destiny. We joined many years ago and were sold the ideal of a trading agreement however as time has passed it has grown into an entity more concerned with political union . The British people have been lied to throughout our membership and many have concluded that enough is enough. You and others may wish to join this club but be aware, the usual pattern for financially poorer countries is to lend them money to improve their standards at not particularly good rates and at first it raises the standard of the people's living . however then the 10 year's grace runs out and debt repayment time arrives.Ask the Greeks, the Spanish look at how their unemployment figures have risen .Ask the Swedes what they think. It's not all sweetness and light for them . it's a rich man's club hiding behind platitudes of social justice but really it's about control and many of us wish to control ourselves.

Re: EU referendum - What will you vote?
Firstly, in the last referendum about staying in the Common Market, I voted to stay in. I would like to apologise for that.
Secondly, no one is suggesting hate for Albanians, Turks etc. Hackneyed phrase I know but one of my oldest friends is Turkish. They can all join the EU if that's their wish and that's fine. I just want the UK not to be part of it, simple as that.

Youth unemployment in the E.U ? . That's easily solved. The new European army led by Merkel should solve that with one conscription foul swoop.

- Going out of EU that's yours to decide. Hopefully you choose what you think is best for OK citizens.
- Being scared from us joining EU,:cussing:. Just because you watched taken!?!?!
- We don't emigrate because we want to, we emigrate because we have no other options left. Would you rather emigrate to any EU country, or go to Afghanistan or Iraq and risk your life?

Re: EU referendum - What will you vote?
I wouldn't blame anybody for wanting to move from Kosovo or Albania to the UK - it's a no-brainer in terms of quality of living.
The issue for the UK is more EU expansion south/eastwards means another wave of mass uncontrolled immigration - not to mention weakening the EU economy overall. Why would people in the UK want Albania, Kosovo or Serbia to join the Eu - what would the UK gain from that?
It will also make the EU yet more scattered politically, economically and socially - yet (driven by Germany) the EU will drive forward with trying to assimilate everyone which is a disaster. The primary issue with the EU is not freedom of movement - that would be excellent if it was a union of socio-economically similar countries as it was originally intended to be. It's the outward expansion to include nearly the whole continent.

I'll tell you, to gain labour to do the jobs that the "British" are too lazy to do. It has been proven time and time again that the net effect of migration on the UK economy (including utilisation of public services) is positive. But migration isn't the real issue, it's the economy.
Before George Osbourne commented on the effect of Brexit on things like mortgages and house prices, as a former economics student I came to exactly these conclusions. I didn't need a politician to tell me this, I simply applied some basic knowledge I have on the subject that I studied to a decent level 30 years ago. So for me what both he and Cameron are saying about the potential impact on the economy makes a lot of sense.
Good to see this thread is ebbing and flowing but fortunately unlike the poll in here and the people who want out, the general population are starting to see the light.

Always going to vote OUT.
We might get to vote again, until we get it right.
BRITAIN OUT

Re: EU referendum - What will you vote?
One thing that the mud slinging has bought to light is TTIP which was a secret stealth method of selling off more of the family silver . I doubt very much if the already decided will be swayed by either sides arguments , it's the floating vote that they are both after. From the people I see as a sales person I get the impression that the remain camp is the domain of those that feel they might lose out whereas the Brexits tend to be a little more subjective about the real cost of staying in and not necessarily the financial one.

Re: EU referendum - What will you vote?
Ah the old 'net economic benefit' propaganda - merely because taxation receipts outweigh welfare payments.
Nut Flush do you honestly think that unchecked immigration from Serbia, Kosovo, Albania etc would be beneficial for the UK?

For an intelligent bloke you do talk some cobblers. There as much chance of Turkey, Serbia, Kosovo and Albania joining the EU in the next 20 years as me becoming the queen of Ireland.northbank123 wrote:Ah the old 'net economic benefit' propaganda - merely because taxation receipts outweigh welfare payments.

I didn't suggest that they were on the verge of joining - but those particular countries have been mentioned on the past few pages and Nut Flush responded to concerns about south/eastwards expansion with the old "immigration has net economic benefit" line. Just seeing how far that goes for him. Although given the strategic security importance of Turkey it is hardly unlikely that their membership will be fast-tracked.Chippy wrote:For an intelligent bloke you do talk some cobblers. And you can turn down the condescension several notches - yes people have staunch views and its evidently an emotive topic but you seem determined on this thread to paint anybody who wants to leave as an idiot.
