To be honest i'm slightly less worried about who he buys than when he buys, he's built up a notorious reputation of being slow in the market, which means availability goes down and price goes up if you leave it too late and appear desperate.

Granit Xhaka looks to be a good buy and an excellent start i just hope he doesn't do his usual and start dithering about, get the players bought, get them in and get them working during the pre-season rather than after the season has started which happens too often and takes the players too long to get up to speed.

Wengers management ability aside we really should be doing much better in the transfer market and at integrating players into the team, the amount of time it took to get Elneny acclimatised was shocking for a professional player who was regular starter for his previous team.

Regardless of who we buy - It is still going to be a "Fact" that wenger is not the manager he used to be...and it is a new manager we need most.....I still can't see him spending BIG Money on the top quality striker we so obviously and desperately need - Giroud's hat-trick against the mighty villa - Put an end to any hope of that...fuck it's depressing. :?

I can't ever recall having seen Xhaka play and know fuck all about him other than the recent press snippets. Whilst I agree that a striker should be a priority there's no doubt that the holding midfielder (or lack of) has been the other elephant in the room, and a combination of the Lamppost up front, Ramsey being used as a CDM, no partner for Kos, and Pete the Plank in goal are the reasons why we didn't win the title. Even Mr Magoo in charge could have won the title if he'd addressed those positions instead of settling for second best options

Hope Xhaka turns out to be the one who closes down one of those 4 gaping holes

Cech has nothing to do with our failure to win the league. He was solid for us if not spectacular last season. He kept the highest amount of clean sheets in the league too - winning the golden glove.

What cost us the title is simple: Wenger. He's finished as a manager. We're at a disadvantage every game tactically because he has no tactical nous whatsoever it's scary. He can't motivate the squad, lacks ambition both on the pitch and in the transfer market, is unable to foster a winning mentality at the club and puts too much faith in never-will-be's (Giroud).

Which brings me to the next biggest reason we didn't win the title. Olivier fucking Giroud. Henry was right; Giroud doesn't win you titles. End of. Henry for manager? :rubchin: FFS it's so obvious so why can't Wenger see it? Giroud has been our starting CF for 4 fucking years! It's beyond a joke. After enduring all that time watching the lampost strutting around upfront, we deserve to see an Aubameyang or Higuain signed this summer. Any less than that calibre of striker and Wenger can fuck right off.

We're not very good in central defence either. Kos is quality, but Gabriel is a muppet and Mertesacker is a 6'6" fucking fairy. Let's get Manolas.

He won't though will he.
Most people (home and away) seem to support him no matter what and believe he should go on his own terms.
Questioning this is apparently disrespectful.

We were certainly linked heavily with him but am not sure if that was media driven or if club made bids or not - I have a vague recollection that there were rumours of a bid coming out from his old club but I could be wrong on that
