The whole fucking point of a release clause is that you don't need to negotiate with the club.

You do.
The contract is between Leics and Vardy. We're not party to it. We need to make an offer for Vardy and then (presumably) the release clause states that Leics must inform the player and accept the offer.

As with the Suarez fiasco, we're not in a position to enforce the clause, so if the club play hardball the player would have to begin proceedings against it, which would take time, money and be very messy.
You're right about enforceability but even on your own analysis doesn't explain why we need to be in negotiations with them immediately on making the bid.

A couple of problems with the possible signing of Vardy:

1) He plays off direct balls over the top at Leicester, something that will get you fined if you try it at Arsene’s Arsenal.

2) No way he displaces Le Chapman up front, he’ll be a Wally replacement (where he’ll be totally wasted).

3) He shoots too much. Won't fit in.

I'm stunned that TOF would even go for an English player who is 'in his prime'

No doubt he'll play him on the wing to accommodate Project Giroud :suicide:

If Vardy could feed off even half the chances we could create (despite our sideways football), he'd be a good signing.

Knowing TOF, he'll tell him to not shoot.

Surprised to see people in favour of signing Vardy to be honest. I actually like him but unless Wenger is gonna change the way we play and make us play to his strengths like Leicester do (which obviously he isnt) then I dont see the point.

Vardy may seem like an improvement on what we've got but he wont be when he's stuck out wide trying to supply Giroud and we're still playing that insipid slow sideways crap.

To me this just shows how clueless Wenger is now and how he isnt fit to be a manager of a big club like Arsenal with big resources. If he cannot attract top quality with CL football and the funds he has available to him then what use is he?

Not that I give a fuck about next season or any other season where Wenger remains in charge. Dont want to give the impression that I have any intererst whatsoever int he modern Arsenal :x

They would be better adding another £10 million to the reputed £20million price tag and going after Alexandre Lacazette, who is younger, and in my opinion better.

The same lacazette who couldnt get in the french squad ahead of giroud ?? Lets not forget that this is also a french squad without benzema  Whoever we sign (and I have already said that vardy wouldnt be my first choice) had better be a LOT better than giroud, and if lacazette isnt that guy then we would be better going with vardy imo

I'm hopeful he could be an IW8-type signing. He's certainly better then what we have, it's just a question of how he'll manage with our insipid ponderous 'tactics' and probably being played out of position - As standard for TOF.

The very way we play is a fucking 'handbrake'. Oh, for a new manager to tear up all this sideways over-passing dogma.

There is some hope that TOF is finally 'buying for now', which implies this could be his last season. I expect him to plague the club for a few years yet though :(

An Arsenal supporter once justified Podolski's transfer to me by saying he didn't work hard enough and left the left back exposed too often...That, to me,sums up the treatment of Podolski more than Podolski himself..
Agreed. I was furious at how TOF treated Arshavin as well :banghead:

It would not in the least surprise me that this is a token signing by wenger to ensure all the AKB's keep singing his name - It is a signing to win the popular vote. Not in his entire time at Arsenal has the arrogant cun.t seen and heard such descent before as what showed constantly last season - He wants to see out his contract - His ego is so huge that to walk away before the end of his contract would incite the media and everyone else to say he was 'hounded out' (I wish! ).. There are better signings to be had for £20mill....and Vardy is not the kind of player whose style would seem to fit in with le bumholes tippy tappy flappy vadgey shyte, which is why I think clueless is trying to plaate the fans with a signing that he thinks will appease everyone................WRONG!

WENGER OUT !

If he does sign I hope he lamps Giroud on his first day in training.

Vardy would spend a fair amount of time on the wing which is fucking Moronic. Would have been the same if Suarez signed.

Because we're not allowed to contact the player directly, so we have to speak to Leics. They're the ones we'll need to send the cheque to.
