Season 2007/2008-Your top 3 great moments

Post by This Is The Daybreak »

What are your top 3 highs now it's all over untill August where we go through it all again. What are your favourite moments/games.

The Highs

1. Two Nil in the San Siro. Gutted I wasn't there but a fantastic performance where nobody expected us to do the business and one of the few highs in the last few months of the season. One of our greatest ever perfomances in Europe and what a moment when Fabregas strike hit the back of the net

2. 3-1 at Shite Hart Lane. After media and opposition supporters (and some of our own) wrote us off as Tottenham being on the up and us being in decline and dropping out the top four altogether this was one of the most satisfying results we've got from the lane. Who ever saw it saw a fantastic North London Derby which totally shredded the nerves as well (who remembers Toure blocking it on the line after Berbatov rounding Almunia, or Darren Bent deciding to baloon it when it looked easier to score, which would have made it 2-2)...for anyone who was there who can remember the sheer bedlam when Adebayor turned and struck the goal of the season (my personal choice).

3. The comeback at The Reebok. 3:45, you've travelled 3 hours and face a 3 hour journey home, you're standing in the pouring hailstones, an abject first half perfomance has just been witnessed and the team's down to ten men, any hope remaining for the league seems to have all but slipped away and to top things off you're in fucking Bolton and the. Come ten to 5 though there's nowhere else you'd be after one of the great comebacks in the Premiership with an own goal with a minute on the clock remaining to give a 3-2 victory. A fantastic second half performance by the team and one of the great "go ballistic" moments of the seasons.

Thats mine, Chelsea at home was just edged out by the comeback at the reebok

1. Adebayor's equaliser at Anfield in the Champions League. Although we went on to lose the match, at the time it looked like it would be enough to see us through to the semi-finals. This, for me, was the most euphoric moment of the season - even though I would've preferred winning the league to the CL. But by this stage, the former was long gone.

2. Defeating Tottenham 3-1 back in September. Although I hate the **** (especially since they won the Mickey Mouse cup and are acting like they won the World Cup), it was more pleasing to be back at the top of the league for the first time in three years. After all the stress of Henry leaving, Pires leaving, and the new stadium, it was a huge relief to be back at the lofty heights of the top position.

3. Defeating Tottenham 2-1 in December. At this stage it seemed that no matter how Tottenham played against, the Gods were simply against them (which obviously reversed in the aforementioned Carling Cup). Keane missed a penalty, and Bendtner knocked in the winner several minutes later. At the final whistle, they played 'Here it is, Merry Xmas' over the PA, and with no prompting, the entire ground joined in with the chorus. I remember singing it and looking down at the absolutely grim/miserable **** below, and it made my Christmas. The result also meant that we were top on 25/12, which is always nice. Sadly enough, whilst walking past the Extra Time karaoke, I knew that it wouldn't be the same story come May.

Honourable mention goes to Gallas' equaliser against Man Utd. Was in the Twelve Pins, and the place exploded.

I can see why the Bolton 3-2 match was nominated, but by that stage it was all too late, so it didn't do as much for me as the others mentioned.

If I'm judging it on jostles then it has to be Ade's goal after Walcott's God-like run through the mousers in the CL. We nearly wrecked the bar we were in with a sprawling, roaring, ten man jostle. It was a huge moment, total euphoria. I really thought that goal would go down in CL history and Arsenal history as the deciding moment on our way to our first CL title. 8) We would tell our kids and grandkids about it, the night Theo finally came good, finally became a legend, carving through the mouser hordes like a hot knife through soft butter, the pass to Ade, the ball hitting the net... 8)

And then the fucking robbing mouser bastards robbed us... horrible come down. :(

For me

1. Arsenal Vs Man City. My first league game at the Grove. £5 on Fabregas for the first goal at 16/1. Class.

2. Beating Everton 4-1 away. Outside our main rivals my most hated team of all, and seeing that sour faced bollock Moyes post match comments made it all that sweeter.

3. Emirates Cup Vs Inter Milan. RvP's winning goal and general team performance that day gave me the belief that we could really make a serious challange this year.

Two of my favorite moments for sheer comedy are

a) the old woman swearing behind giggs when he took the corner

b) Cesc's foul on cashley

Despite the disappointment with the title, we produced some excellent performances.....bring on next season!!

1. 2-1 v fulham on the first day because it set the tone for the season and i'll never forget how the place erupted after hleb scored at the end.

2. 3-1 v spurs at the shithole, we put the *word censored* in their place and showed we are the top dogs in north london and two contenders for goal of the season.

3. 2-0 v ac milan in the san siro, fucking amazing

2.0 In Milan. What a day and what a game. See a few of you guys and drinking in the sun all day in Milan was good but to go and play them off the park was top draw.

The come back at Bolton. My son was so pissed off with me at half time for getting him out of bed and driving all the way to Bolton. At the end we were jumping up and down hugging and going mental.

The day out in Prague. Shit game 1 shot on goal all game but a great place to have a few beers.

In football terms it goes like this:

1. Milan in the San Siro. Not since the Bernabau had we had such an incredible team performance and probably our greatest european victory to date. The atmosphere was incredible. The three days out there were magical. It was truly the greatest time ive had in my short life

2. 3-1 at the shit hole. Games against Tottenham mean more than anything else to me and this was probably the greatest victory against the old rivals ive ever had the honour of seeing. I went absolutely fookin mental on three occasions :)

3. 3-0 at Sheff Utd. If not for the complete dismantling of a very gritty northern team but also the incredible support of 3000 gooners. We sold out a Carling cup 4th round tie away which was incredible in inself but me and my mate Steve led the charge of consistent chanting on the left side and never stopped till we got back to Southampton. A true gem which made me realise whether you love it or not the Carling Cup is every bit as magical as any other trophy for me

And my top 3 comical moments:

1. Jens smacking Rooney in the head with the ball when he threw it at him during our abysmal defeat at Old Trafford in the FA Cup
2. Having a massive row with a female fan in block 6 for the Tottenham home game (carling cup), telling each other to fuck off and then having the audacity to hug each other and express our love when Theo equalised. For one moment i knew what it felt like to be married lol
3. On the way back from the Man City away game chatting with probably the most legendary welsh city fans and then proceeding to mock the cardiff fans getting on the train after their game with stoke. Priceless and incredibly happy times
