Disgusting scenes afterwards. Not that UEFA will be bothered about Russians - if they were British fans we would be having plans to ban clubs from Europe for a decade.

UEFA have just started discipline action against the Russian Football Federation so we shall see. Not seen this level of violence since the 80s. I knew Europe was fractured but France don't seem to be able to contain it. If the match was in England we would have had Police on standby to help control the violence

If we think this is bad - wait till the world cup in Russia - The level of Racism there is off the scale. That and what with Putin's Homophobic stance...a country in the dark ages...and yet Blatta & Co still gave them the world cup.

The French authorities and police have enough to deal with trying to keep everyone safe from acts of terrorism - and now this..pitiful.

Will be interesting to see how many England fans travel to the World Cup, If the club teams merge and get behind Russia the Police will have a job to keep a lid on it.....

Racism will not be evident in shops and Bars or by local Muscovites their manner is normally stand offish anyway , it will be mainly these nationalist groups who have been known to kill foreigners just because of colour

Really weird how England outnumbered the Russians comfortably yet by the footage on TV seem to have taken a battering. I can't see anyone but really hardcore England fans making the trip to Russia. For once, you probably could point the finger at another country starting the trouble and provoking our fans.

There is a documentary by Reggie Yates (the Black British journalist), on extremism in Russia. It's rife and pretty scary over there.

I remember Copenhagen in 1999, but this seems worse and the Russians planned pretty much every confrontation. Apparently they where are built like bricks shit houses and some of them where ex forces.

Yes they would be ex army they still have National conscription over there, and that is tough in itself, new recruits are brutalised..if you know these types they are seriously organised have training camps for hooligans FFS, and they are definitely not to be messed with, it would take a shotgun to stop them

This whole violence thing is ridiculous, and i just love the way the British media were jumping on the English fans as being at fault even before the whole story came out, not saying they were completely innocent but they definitely did not seem to start it by all later reports.

I genuinely would not go near Russia for the World Cup, the rise of ultra-nationalism in Russia and its place on their football terraces is rampant these days, and this is coming from someone who can speak a little Russia, enough to get by anyway.

We have to be very very careful before we have all the facts. To me it feels the Russians want to send a message to the hardest fans in Europe which is still the English. Don't condemn our own until we understand the war zone.
