As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal are ready to offer manager Arsene Wenger a new contract. The 66-year-old, who has one year left on his contract, will be offered a two-year extension. (Sunday Mirror)
Predictable but fucking depressing. Three more years. The catalyst for Ozil and Sanchez to reject new deals?
yes think one of those 2 may move on....feel sorry for Xaha joining this bunch of mercenary losers
Well at least he'll get £40k a week for having to tolerate a wanky boss.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he England striker Jamie Vardy is set to snub a move to the club and remain at Leicester.
In an interview with Chinese television, Arsenal boss Wenger said: 'Jamie Vardy is, at the moment, at Leicester and from what I know, he will stay at Leicester.'
So there you go. But lets not leave it there, let's lose the last shred of our self respect & spend the rest of the season begging him. I knew he wasn't coming, if he was he would have signed already. So now Wenger will do nothing and say what is he meant to do??? He went for Vardy, he didn't want to come ......... so Hey Ho, onward we stagger.

Yep, and all those ones that chanted his name and fought the banners can sit back and watch us finish 4th for the next three years.
Think they will struggle to get 4th place...hope so maybe Wenger will leave then

If anything, this shows that Wenger isn't the big draw that he used to be. Jamie Vardy from Leicester at 29 doesn't want to go. Leicester won't be in the fight for CL places next year, so why stay? After this, Vardy will be nearly 31. What big club will come for him then?
For me, this smacks of not seeing Arsenal as a big step up. I think that he would have been a massive upgrade to our striking position. A damning indictment for the real world on Wengers Arsenal.
I sincerely hope that this is the last year with Lord Dipshite in charge. He's worth nothing to us if he can't attract Roy of the Rovers at 29 years (30 in January). He will have one bite of the CL apple and ride off into the sunset (that isn't saying that we will finish top 4 next year as that depends on who we sign as a striker - if we do) and we can't get him to sign.
This season could turn out to be a real watershed, having seen the Italian team under Conte and their discipline and tenacity i think Chelsea could be back to their usual level after last seasons woeful performance, i fully expect both Manc teams to be much improved under their respective new managers and i also expect the Victims to improve.
Add to this Spammers under Slavan and the Spuds having another decent season under Poch and even possibly an improved Everton under Koeman, Wenger may have to do something special to retain the VT this coming season.
I honesty think that if things go awry again towards the mid-part of the season yet again this season's pressure will be nothing compared to next, a small proportion of the fans are totally against him now but unless he does something miraculous those numbers will continue to increase exponentially and by the end of next season things could really be poisonous at the Bowl never mind away games
I know it's been said many times in the past but next season is potentially the biggest banana skin AW has ever faced, it will be good to see how he and his love children handle it
Piers Morgan is speculating Wenger will be offered a contract extension soon, which is a joke if true. The club would be treating every fan as a muppet offering him a new deal. Especially as Wenger has said he will wait until after next season to discuss his future. He needs to earn the right to manage the club. The right isnt his to decide when he wants to leave despite what many former players say.
For me, his reputation as a top class manager is dead. I dont consider him to be an elite manager, in fact I think he is cannon fodder for the real tacticians in the game. Koeman regularly does him in. It goes back to the first meeting where PSV knocked us out in the CL with that late goal from Alex. 10 times Wenger has met Koeman, and Wenger has won 2, lost 4 and drew 4 despite enjoying better players and larger resources. Then there is the infamous record against Jose. He also had a better head to heard record against Ferguson in hs first 10 years, but from 2006 to when Ferguson retired, Ferguson put daylight in their head to head record.

Wenger just inst that good.
Was at that game and I still remember that c.unt hleb giving away the stupid free kick near the corner flag
I knew Wenger was a busted flush the moment Ferguson started being pally with him and respectful of him. Old Rednose Taggart only ever showed that type of niceness to managers he didn't view as a threat.

Actually I knew it quite a while before then, but that kind of confirmed it for me.
I can't wait for him to sign a contract extension just to see one particular poster go into meltdown and spit his Guinness stained dummy out
Personally I don't care one way or the other because I don't believe the owner or board will back a new manager with the required resources to make this team cl winners which is the one competition I want to see us win, not overly bothered by the pl anymore.

Also indicated after the 8-2 where Ferguson publicly defended Wenger and also the public show of consolation at the final whistle, I find it hard to imagine Ferguson would have been that nice to him in earlier years of their rivalry, it just showed he felt sorry and pity for him if anything and that he wasn't close to being a rival. For example I think Ferguson would have relished putting 8 past a Wenger side in say, 2003. In 2011 it was almost as if he was saying to his team to avoid scoring anymore as if not to rub it in!
