The ''no one is coming'' Transfer Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I thought we were supposedly signing him a few weeks back?! :rubchin:

This could be a long summer.
Gutted by this as I thought he was just what we needed (in replacing Wally) instead we get Inamoto mark II to sell shirts in Japan :banghead:

I'm sure we can look forward to him telling Pep how easy it is to beat us with minimal effort.
I'm not sure Pep will need any help whatsoever in that matter mate.

Anyone at Arsenal: "Arsène, I've heard a rumour that Arteta is wanted at Man City. If they want him, do you think we should get in first and offer him a decent role? He's intelligent, sensible and can offer a fresh approach towards the coaching. What do you think?"

Wanker: "No. He'll just end up being a threat to me and I can't have that."

Anyone: "But, it'll mean our plans and tactics might be leaked to a rival team. "

Wanker: "What are tactics and plans?"

Pep speaks about the number of top managers in the PL. Mentions Mourinho (first), Klopp, Ranieri, Conte, and Pochettino too
No mention of Wenger.

Cannot believe that real madrid are considering selling varane and cannot believe that we are not in for him  Ok I can believe that we are not going after him, but we are in dire need of a centre back and he is French and priced at £25m-£30m, so a deal like that should be right up wengers street  There are strong rumours that both manc clubs are in for him, and if we sit by and let them buy him it will be a disgrace

You have to say that the talent pool of available players is getting very low very fast - even if we had a manager that would be willing and committed to bring in quality players the list of options isn't great, but when you have a lifeless w*nker like we have then it adds up to another disgraceful transfer window for the Gooners  Every top club in Europe is getting their transfer window business done, but our lone decision maker is out adding more jingles to an already bulging bank account :x

It's going to be a last minute scramble to find a big name after others have done their business. This is how Wenger operates.

We'll just wait for all the top clubs to make the big signings then swoop in for the dross they need to offload to accommodate them. Simples.

And this is undoubtedly our approach which Wenger thinks is vindicTed by the Ozil signing - hope that there's a flurry f business at other clubs in the last week and that somebody ends up trying to flog quality players at cut prices to balance the books, whilst nobody else is interested because they've already done their business.

This guy would not be a bad signing

Arsenal are reported to have entered the race to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic, who looks set to move on

But understand depends on no one else being after him leaving us a clear route....and of course Wenger spending the money without putting there backs up by haggling every last penny

Cannot see it happening personally

I wouldn't count on any serious names being signed at all. A couple of promising players and that will be it. Arsenal are no longer a big draw , if Vardy turned us down that sums it up.

I know most on here weren't too bothered that we didn't end up signing Vardy, but you have to look at it from Wenger's fucked up logic. He went for Vardy, because he was relatively cheap, (for a 20 + goal striker). Failing to buy him, leaves crackpot with two options. He either spends the 35 million + needed to buy a world class striker, or he signs an average player for peanuts. As we all know, the 2nd option is the most likely, and of course Wenger will proclaim he has signed the next Henry, only to see the Status Quo of Giroud starting up front again next season. That's before the other deficiencies in the team are addressed.

All this talk of a 'top striker', 'world class CH' or 'hard bastard DM' is quite frankly embarrassing, and has been going on for the last 8 years    Arsene F.C's goal is to remain reasonably competitive (the goalpost of which is top 4) whilst turning a profit - why is that difficult to understand? Wenger is not interested in putting down £50mil for a Cavani or Higuain. He's happy to be in the top 4 and provide 'process and quality' for 60k tourists every week in exchange for £8.5mil a year... anything else (i.e. trophies) is a bonus. People end up disappointed every summer because their expectations just aren't realistic.

Yep. I thought I had a decent chance with Ana Ivanovic this summer after her early Wimbledon exit but alas she has other commitments.

I'd sign up to another 20 years of Wenger if it meant having a go on her  :barscarf:
