As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Ridiculously low bid...sounds like something we would normally do.
Trouble is...it now tests whether he wants to stay or not. Obviously we don't have to accept any bid, but if he/his agent makes it known that he wants the move, we could be fucked.
And I don't trust our "negotiators" to convince him to stay, get the best deal or a suitable replacement.
I don't think we've heard the last of this. If not juve, than maybe some other club.

Juventus director Beppe Marrota: "We had asked for Sanchez's price tag & Arsenal valued him at €40m - a sum we considered reasonable."
The club gave a valuation to a player that wasn't for sale? Bit odd.
As is the case with almost all transfers, clubs don't enquire and look to place a serious bid unless there is solid interest from said player. Gut feeling says he is off sooner rather than later.

Players are stubborn, if that happens he will make his mind up, refuse to sign a new deal and use the season as a shop window, same with Ozil.
Unbelievable state of affairs where the club seem willing to risk losing both because they allow Wenger to be too loyal to Giroud.
Would that be the only reason though? At Juve, he would likely make around the same (maybe more with Pogba out the door) with a better chance at domestic and European honors. If I were in his shoes, I'd be off. Let's face it, he won't challenge for the big trophies with Wenger in charge.
With two years on his contract, I reckon we may see more traction with this rumour before the summer is out.
No, I don't think so, both are happy in London and probably like their status at Arsenal where both are the men, both are proven winners though with that mentality and I'm not sure they will give that up.
If he does the business and adds a striker that both think is class then I have no doubts that both will sign their deals, the PL is the place to be unfortunately so I'm not sure they will leave it unless they have to.
Look at van Persie, refused to go to Italy and risked any sort of compassion by going to United when he probably knew it would hit the fan for him.

I do agree with your points but will for the sake of argument say that I think both players were signed under the premise of being part of a wave of strong signings. It can't be fun turning up to train and play with fucking Sanogo and Giroud or watch Walcott constantly lose the ball, Oxlaide-Chamerlain run it out for a throw or Mertesaker get out-paced and out-jumped each week. Also bear in mind that they play for decent national sides where their teammates play for successful sides and seem to also win something. At some stage, both of them will start to think that they want real success, under top managers, not virtual crap, with average teammates and a depressingly shit manager.

Underhand or not, I have always believed in making a public bid for a player we want even though we know that it is likely to be rejected, because if the player concerned is interested in joining us then he will make it possible. Currently we wont bid for a player that isn't being hawked around every club in Europe, but yet on so many occasions other clubs have come in and publicly unsettled our players to the point that we were forced into selling them. Players by their very nature love nothing better than making public proclaimations of their love and loyalty to their current clubs, but as soon as they see a bigger club trying to buy them they will instantly cause some issue that will mean that staying at that club would be impossible There are so many quality players that we could have bought and who would have been interested in joining us cos we were viewed as a big club, but yet le cock wants to play by the queensbury rules whilst all other clubs are getting down in the trenches fighting for what they want
Stopped being lazy. Both Ozil and Sanchez have two years left.
I can see the club selling one but never both in one window. My money would be on Sanchez being the one forcing a move. Anything less then £40 million would be a disaster considering the crazy money being spent so far by Man Utd etc. Mind you if he does not go to another BPL team then they will not have the same buying power. Ozil will go next year.
It is safe to say that whatever money we get we will not spend. I reckon we will have a "money neutral" window. We have so far lost a lot of 1st teamers off the wage bill - Rosicky, Arteta, Flamini. That has to be at least £300,000 a week in wages. I reckon we will sell Sanchez for about £40 mill, minus £33 mill for xhaka. We will buy one more player for about £10 mill and be about even on fees but up on the wages front. Then we will rely on the super stars of the euros (Giroud & Ramsey). Also Walcott and Wilshere will be like new players. And we will have Wellbeck to come back!!!
My lad has asked me for the new shirt. I told him I will get bime one when we sign a new star signing so he can get his shirt. I think my money is safe!!
Wally should get £20million at least
Ramsey after his exploits at Euros could get £30 million
Sanogo £200 net of haulage fee
Merteslacker will cost us £100 to get put down
In £49,999,700
Could realistically buy:
Kante £25 million
Griezmann £70 million
Subotic apparently available for £4million
Out £99 million.
Net cost £50 million.
Input from proper ex legends to try and instill The Arsenal way - they'd probably do it for free - but should be paid after all the lolly that has been spent on dross and permacrocks under this regime. The savings on Arteta and Rosicky (20 mins for the season) alone could be put to this cause.
Warchest quoted as £70 million plus.
£20 million saved - bonus for "The Honourer of Contracts"
We told Juventus to F off in their efforts with Sanchez. However, the club had better tie him down as he only has two years left. Nightmare scenario, next season he wants to move to a PL club, whilst diddly Arsene watches another top Arsenal player end up at our rivals.
RVP, Cesc and Nasri were all top players in their own right. All good enough to be leading players helping United, Chelsea and City win the league, yet when Wenger had all three of them, he offered up 4th place and nothing more. How does he continue to get away with being referred to as a top manager when such evidence overwhelmingly indicates he is nothing special.

If we lose either Ozil or Sanchez then the fans have to act. If they continue to go to games and support this club under the Wenger and Kronke regime then you can't complain. I will stop supporting Arsenal if that happens until both Wenger and Kronke are gone. I mean it as well. Arsenal have so much money doing nothing and the fans deserve much much more.

Remember the summer when le cock proclaimed that you cannot call yourself a big club if you sell cesc and nasri (pute) in the same transfer window ? Within weeks both had left
Selling both or selling neither......none of these scenarios would shock me anymore cos the club has continually shown that they will always buckle under pressure when big clubs want our best players, plus we are seeing more and more evidence in recent years that players are losing faith in wenker so ozil and sanchez might well decide that they want out
It's funny/sad/embarrassing that this summer, the one where the new tv deal that gives every club £100m per season kicks in, we are actually showing less inclination to buy than in the past No more crap about whether he had money to spend in the past or not, this summer every club has it and he is doing fcuk all with ours
I till remember when Cesc and Nasri left. There was a gaping whole in terms of quality in our midfield. Yet Wenger did nothing. The season had well and truly commenced and he was in denial when everyone said Arsenal would struggle without Cesc and Nasri. He had that grin on his face - laughing at the hysteria among pundits thinking Arsenal were seriously under prepared. Of course when United beat us 8-2, he panicked and signed Santos, Merteacker, Arteta and Benayoun on loan. Of course none of them were real quality, but 4 new bodies at least shored up the squad. Wenger was literally prepared to go into that season with Diaby, Song, Ramsey (21), Wilshere (20), Chamberlain (18), Walcott, Gervinho, Rosicky in midfield. Diaby, Song, Gervinho and Rosicky as the senior players FFS.
But that type of behavior isnt isolated. The time he played Sanogo in the CL against Bayern Munich was another stunt. Wenger has that attitude were he thinks he can do anything, and should be supported no matter what. He is doing it again with his unwavering support of Giroud. He has a stunning arrogance about him, in which he thinks he can do these things and get away with it.
