Mods, you can stick this in the basement or any where you fancy, but Fat Sam??

I thought that losing to Iceland was as low as it could get for engerland, but then I see stories about their plans to interview bruce and fat sam being the favourite for the job, and I am literally gobsmacked
Their response to the greatest humiliation in recent years, is to install a guy who has made his reputation on escaping relegations and has never even come close to winning a raffle much less a premier league title   He will change the "tactics" overnight, as their response to opposition gameplans will be to launch high balls up to andy carroll (or another carthorse) and to kick on any opposition skillful players out of the game. It is one thing for the likes of Ireland or wales to have that mentality, but a country with the players that engerland has should aspire to more than that

If I was an ingerland fan right now, then I would be seriously, seriously worried

Brilliant. Fucking brilliant. Fat Sam managing England. Has there ever been a more ridiculous appointment ever in the history of football? I bet the rest of the world are terrified at the thought of this. Fucking wonderful for all those Ingerlund thugs that the manager will be just like them- a fat, beer-bellied, ignorant, xenophobe.

So much for the FA 10 year plan. Pretty sure Fat Sam, Steve Bruce and Jurgen Klinsman were not part of the plan. Thought Southgate was being groomed for the job.
To be fair to him, he is the only English manager in the PL that can compete with all the foreign coaches. At least he'll have a system and know which players to put in his team.
If he can get Sunderland to stay up then anything is possible.

I genuinely want Fat Sam to get the job.

The country that gave the world the game appears not to have a single home-grown manager of any standing.

Additionally, our players are ridiculously overhyped. They're a mediocre bunch with middling skills but no bottle.

So why not let the Walrus have a go. It'll be a fun watch.

Candidates like FAt Sam and Southgate are unbelievable if actually being considered. They will herald absolutely no change at all.

England need somebody who will adopt a complete different approach to selection, tactics, media-handling, youth teams - everything. Just like Mark Sampson has done for the women's team which was in a tired and battered state by the time hope Powell left.

Eddie Howe for me. Might flop but certainly won't go down in the same way as McClaren or Hodgson.

It's just a case of same old same old for England anyway. Look at the qualification group for the next World Cup FFS - filled with dross like Malta, Narnia, The Vatican and Scotland. Top the group - 10 games, 10 wins, 30 points 87 goals and off to Russia in two summer's time to get rimmed by anyone even half decent. BORING.

Who needs Tiki Taka or a false 9 when you've got Big Fat Sam instructing Dandruff Joe to launch scud missiles at Andy Carroll, the future's bright :barscarf:

Fat Sam? Fatter Steve? Who cares?

We all know that TOF wouldn't do us a favour and fuck off to take the England job. The FA don't even want to buy him out of his fat, undeserved £8.3M contract anyway. TOF will sure as fuck use the England job for leverage though to squeeze out another undeserved contract from Stan and Ivan though. Wanker.

Spot on. Watching England is as much of a purgatory as watching Arsene FC. It's all meaningless now :barscarf:

You're kidding, right?  If a "system" is setting up your team to try and physically stop a better team from playing football then yep Fat Sam has a "system". No doubt Shawcross will be the next England captain!  Fat Sam's "system" might stop Bolton or Sunderland from getting relegated on the last day of the season, but that is not competing with "all the foreign coaches" though, is it - and if that is the limit of England's ambition, at interlull level they will quickly get found out, and they will get royally fucked as well. :|

Hope he doesn't get the job but Sam Allardyce would do a very good job for England, he'd be better than Wenger for a start. Hopefully they go for someone else though, and do it quickly so that it stops disrupting our pre season

:coffeespit:

Mate, I'm better than Wenger. Does that qualify me for the job of manager of the country that gave the world football??!!!

No. No, it does not. :D

Sorry buddy, but in the bigger scope of the game, Fat Sam is shite. He saved your arses the year the Toon got relegated and you'll always love him for that, fine - but he will never win the PL no matter where he might end up managing. Ever.
