TRANSFER SPECULATION - WHO ARE WE LINKED WITH?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

These are all champions league players :?: Are any of them even champions league players :?: We need to improve in quality not have more of the same  :x
Each one of those players has something that our current squad seem to lack.

Dunne is a calm commanding centre back. Bullard is a tenacious midfielder who is good at set pieces. Affelay is a creative midfielder that likes to run at players with pace and shoots on sight. Dean Ashton is just a beast. He bullies defences. Look at how he manhandled Rio Ferdinand to score last week.

Our current squad can beat anyone when they are sharp, regardless of how well prepped our oppponents are. The problem is they don't get rested enough to stay sharp. Even bringing in more of the same would see us winning a trophy or two.

Couldn't agree more.

1 Star player could possiably make a diffrence. But 3-4 good hard working players could make a real diffrence.

I will agree for the case on dunne, dont know enough about affelay, like jimmy bullard but not good enough for us but dean ashton :?: :?: The last beast we had didnt exactly set the world alight did he ? Anyway please dont use rio bloody ferdinand as a reference point for the quality of any striker - every non manure fans and indeed quite a few of them as well know that rio is an over-rated donkey who would be shown up week in and week out if it wasnt for the fact that vidic (best centre half in the league) is alongside him

The last beast was proper crap. Ashton's nickname will just be Dean-O.

He's a seriously underrated striker. I was watching MOTD with a mate and I was saying how he is top quality when fit. My mate started telling me I was crazy, but didn't get to finish his sentence because Ashton scored. When you look at how he was playing before he got injured you can tell that he's got what it takes to be a very good striker.

I agree. Ashton is too much like a John Hartson-type striker. I think if we're going to reinforce the strikers, we need a poacher in the mould of Ian Wright while Eduardo is out. However, i think we'll see more of Walcott up front next year and the midfield and defence will be reinforced first (i hope).

IMO we already have a Ashton.

Some one who look's really good, an eye for goal and always in the physio office. Mr V. Persie take a bow.

When given a sniff of goal Ashton shoots. I don't think we have anyone at the club like him.

News just off the million. Arsenal sign Ben Arfa for £16 million. pounds. Tad expensive but probably justified considering his talent and international experience. Also to be signed: Per Mertesacker (Werder bremen) for £7 million, massive six foot six centre half who will provide physical presence with long ball in the centre of defense and a right winger probably Issiar Dia (AS Nancy) to compete with Walcott. Hleb 2 b sold for around £15 million and Kranjcar (12 million. ) or possibly Nuri Sahin (8 million. ) will b brought in with that money.
Tactical changes: Eboue to be pushed back to Right Back as a backup to Sagna, Alex Song and Abou Diaby to play Holding Midfield in place of Flamini.
