THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I saw the headline and knew I should avoid it because all I was going to do was upset myself. But of course I had to torture myself and read it, every last fucking word. And then I read it again for good measure. That's my weekend fucked now. FUCK OFF.

There must be a new contract being dangled in front of him, which is of course what Piers Morgan revealed earlier in the year.

it would also explain the lack of signings.
in his little world he thinks that because the team finished 2nd last season there really is no need to buy anyone.
why would he actually want to put himself under pressure to challenge for the title ? he knows that he would ultimately fail.

this way just gives the AKBs an excuse to say that we cant compete. :banghead:
Yes, it's very ominous now.

At least when he (the club?) was in for Vardy, it seemed more like he was finally buying for now. It probably wasn't him though.

He's a fucking parasite :censored:

Best quote that nearly made me puke and piss myself laughing at the same time award goes to this little beauty!!;

"And he's a manager who remains at the forefront of thinking in all kinds of areas around the game; his involvement with analytics, with psychology, with what we're doing on fitness."

Sorry to potentially spiral your mood into the shitter even more DB10 but that's not actually the article that has me pissed off DB10

I think it's the same interview but not quoted in that link for some reason where Ivan basically says we haven't the money to compete on transfers and that we should be looking to the lower leagues for hidden gems.

Read today's Arseblog if you want to self harm a little more.

We have upwards of 200 million quid in cash reserves and are playing the fucking poor mouth :banghead:

We're all being taken for one gigantic ride.

I read that shit yesterday but Im forcing myself to believe that its all just positive spin by Gazidis in the face of yet another bollox of a Wenger transfer window.
Im hoping that he knows the score and will try to actually do something about it instead of spouting nonsense.

Thats my coping mechanism anyway. :|

The money defense thrown about by Wenger and his supporters for years is not and never was a valid argument imo. We have always had money for transfers. But also Ranieri and Leicester put that to bed anyway

And this is a huge reason that Wenger shouldn't be given a seat at the board when he eventually goes. He thinks that every day is the day that the football world will collapse financially, so best not to spend any money. With the lack of footballing knowledge on the board, they go along with it.

The thing is that using Leicester is a good idea, but in reality, Wenger has been trying to do this same plan for near a decade and it hasn't worked. Now he is trying to dress his efforts like he is being more clever than everyone else after the horse has bolted.

The man is a fraud. This year will be a powder keg because of comments like this.

The only reason Gazidis comes out with horse shit like this is because he knows he can get away with it. Just like when Wenger said the home support contributed to last season's shit the bed episode in the league.

We left Highbury to compete with Europe's elite, we have more cash reserves than pretty much any club in world football yet the story that is being spun is that we can't compete financially.

BULL FUCKING SHIT.

A fucking rotten to the core, lying, sham of a money making entity.....do NOT call this a football club.

Amen. It still seriously astonishes me when I hear or read the sheep defending Wenger and the club regarding transfers/finances. We have been and are being lied to. :|

Wenger out - certainly the priority. But I've also said on here the entire club needs to be scoured clean. Kroenke and Gazidis have got to go too.

Ominous from Gazidis:

"Leicester identified players from the French second division, so maybe there's talent that we've been overlooking," said Gazidis. "They did their talent identification [well], they had great unity within the group, as well as quality.

"It wasn't built on money. It was built on the great fitness work they did. It was built on all of these other elements. I think that's going to be a continuing trend within the Premier League."

What he fails to grasp is we have plenty of money so we do not need to buy French second division players. That has been our problem since we moved to the new stadium, they have always been trying to uncovering the new Henry or Viera when we have the money to buy proven talent.
Not saying you shouldn't look at these players but not to the detriment of the team.

Justifying our way using Leicester is bullshit. We have tried the same for years and achieved absolutely fuck all apart from two FA Cups. Yeah sure, we have found Yaya fucking Sanogoals ffs while Foxes found handfull of good players and won the league. How's that for a comparison? Ivan and his merry little elfs should be embarrased and keep their Arsene's ass licking holes shut. FFS!

It is so far beyond parody now that I would laugh if it wasn't happening to our club. It is so incredibly frustrating, we have the resources to be an absolute powerhouse in the game and yet we are held back by an inferiority complex. What happened to Gazidis's thinking that we will be at the same level as Bayern Munich a few years back? We are now where near on the playing field, where it counts the most. Why we left Highbury.

There is nothing wrong with bringing in rough diamonds and polishing them to shine but that has to be combined with signing the finished articles of the highest quality if you want to compete at the levels this club claims it does. For Gazidis to claim that this is happening whilst also flat out lying that we cannot compete financially is an insult to anyone with an ounce of sense who can see through all this.

Genuinely cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel with this bullshit.

What irritates me is that the vast majority of comment on here in relation to youth v spending has been moderate and informed and yet we will still get some AKB idiot coming on here screeching "fuck off and support the chavs you mugs, we have no money and can't spend like manure or the chav!! Wenger's a miracle worker!!"

No one has said we should fuck away £100m on Average Paul Pogba. But we should be spending more than we are and that spending should be aimed directly at where we are weakest; Striker, CH and DM. :|
