The ''no one is coming'' Transfer Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Varane should be the centre back we target - no doubt real will sell, but even though he said yesterday that he wants to stay at madrid, I think that the same time the possibility of playing alongside his French team mate (kos) and for the mythical world class French manager, might sway him.

Dunno why I bother posting stuff like this on here when I know he wont buy quality anyway

The mark schwarzer fiasco from a few years back will live long in the memory - early summer we go in with a bid (think it was 250k) which was rejected, and within the last few weeks of the transfer window we go back with another offer.........of 250k    There are no excuses about lack of money or anything else, than can defend how we behaved in those transfer negotiations - cringeworthy and embarrassed doesn't come close to explaining how most Gooners felt at that time

That and the now highly embarrassing +£1 for Suarez...never mind how embarrassed we all felt - Can you imagine what Suarez must have thought - a ceeeunt yes, but a player that could have trebled our chance sof winning the prem that season...The terms derisory and Insulting come to mind.

Why is it that with Champions League football (Wengers holy grail), a chance to play in a big new stadium of 60,000........£100K a week plus wages Living in London, which aint too bad if you are rich.....

We still cannot get anyone interested in coming to Arsenal FC.....how many players have snubbed or clubs turned the offer down...its getting embarrassing now

Can we not just sign someone ( anyone) to break the ice.......

The answer to that question is Wenger.

Seen as a joke these days but no one has the balls to say it out loud.

I'd question why would anyone want to sign for us? We have a manager who treats failure as success, whose players jump for joy after finishing 4th. Any player, with even a slight amount of ambition, wouldn't come near us. It might be a slow process, but I get the feeling that every year that goes by, Wenger loses his credibility(with players), as a top manager.

Money. Huge, unearned, no-pressure wages. The majority of modern footballers care about one thing; ££€€$$££€€££ :|

As I said, the players with ambition wont sign for us. You will get money grabbers in every sport, but the proper top players, want to win things, and that isn't going to happen at Arsenal.

True to say transfer fees are insane now but you know what we have shot ourselves in the foot time and again when it comes to attempting to sign decent quality players.

The worst of all for many low ball bid's of the managers outdated valuation's?

Not for me it's overpaying bang average players to keep the status quo in the dressing room, players we then can't shift our wage bill is shocking...buying not just loyalty but silence.....because a large % of modern players will happily sit in the stand than play for someone else for less money.

These transfer windows have become similar to our seasons. Frustration for weeks and nothing at the end of it.

Some years ago we had a possibility to sign him for around 30 mil and now it's reported that the price is 75 mil... We were never after him during this window. Or if we was we probably bid about 19 mil for him if even that.

Funny Ranieri always pleading with his players not to go to Arsenal....then they drift out to Chelsea without a murmur......expect Mahrez to be next
