what it comes down to is this: Wenger has openly admitted he is scared of spending big money on players and so he won't.

but for me the significant development this summer (although the club won't admit this) is that because of the new TV money it really isn't as necessary to finish in the top 4 as before. Lets face it the club have been softening up the fans and we have been told to prepare for life outside of the top 4 for a few years now.

Furthermore it was reported earlier this week that the top 6 could well be part of a reorganised Champions League which takes the pressure off Wenger even more. Stand by for 6th is the new 4th in the coming years (irrespective of whether Wenger is manager I should add)

don't forget we are not a football club anymore but a business and as long as everyone keeps paying for season tickets there is no need to continue to improve the squad. In fact managed decline could be quite profitable for the club - we might see the odd token gesture such as a Sanchez and Ozil but there will never be a wholesale change one summer as that hints at ambition, which the club does not have and does not want to have.

This might sound depressing but this is the reality of what has been going on and what will continue to happen. It is why I won't get myself a season ticket, but I understand why many still do and I am not setting out to criticise, just don't expect any real improvement any time soon...

by the way don't forget the highlight of this month and indeed the highlight of any Arsenal fans year :D is the draw for the GROUP STAGES of the Champions League :barscarf: I have been informed that this momentous day will this year be on Thursday 25th August. What with this and the all important transfer deadline day why need to bother about the start of the PL season :lol: :lol:

Sparta Prague are also out. What the fuck is going on? Are there any teams at all left in the competition? I thought it was a rule that we had to play either Olmpiakos or Sparta Prague.

One minute hes complaining we cant compete with the likes of City, Chelsea and the "crazy" spending of Utd. The next hes telling us we dont need to spend - just look at Leicester. :roll:

Oh and yes OBG, I agree. Gazidis is frustrated with Wenger. Just a pity he hasnt got the balls to get a coup going on the board to force him out. Fact that Wenger attends board meetings dont help much though. I do reckon Gazidis is the key to getting Wenger out.
