Pre-season Friendlies Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Things that I have gleened from the first half.

Santi still has a touch of class.
Beilik can pass the ball.
Debuchy needs to be kept as competition to Bellerin.
Gibbs needs to be got rid of.
Wally is Wally.
Our defence can be ripped open very easily still.

Akpom isn't going to cut it. So Wally is 2nd choice and then after him....

What an idiot Wenger is.

FT. I just caught the last few minutes here.

I'm surprised that we've been allowed to shoot often enough to score eight

Fuck strengthening to win the PL, destroying Norwegian sides in pre-season is what football is all about :barscarf: 8)

ETA: What the fuck is this? Forward passing? Passing into space? Incisive, clinical shooting? We don't play like that anymore!

Campbell's goal was a bit special

Why am I not surprised that we only scored one in the first half?

What the fuck is David Hillier thinking, with that arm tattoo?

One more pre-season friendly to go:

For Arsenal to beat anyone 8-0 that team must really have been shit. FFS!! Wenger won't buy anyone now as he'll think we're great enough as is.

Please fuck off Mr Wenger.

8-0. Wow! I imagine we're going to win everything if we just play a shit amateur team each week.

Just wait for Theo to give the sound bite that " everyone will be scared of us now" on Pravda.

8-0. Always pleasurable to get an appropriate scoreline against a smaller team.
Doesn't mean a thing, we still need a CB and a striker.
Second pre-season in which Akpom has done well. No doubt he's going out on loan again.

Very true Nos, unfortunately we rarely seem to do it even in friendlies these days never mind in the league and only really manage it on rare rare occasions on match day 6 when last 16 qualification hanging by a thread :banghead:

No mention for Iwobi?.......he looked very impressive to me....but against poor opposition

Santi is a class act, Wally scored but still looks lost to me

Lets see what happens against City....especially how the CBs hold up....will be interesting

Agreed. Iwobi was very good. That being said, it was against Vikings second/youth team. I thought that Akpom was invisible. He missed a sitter that any of us would have scored and that was with two cracks at it. He finally scored when the keeper spilled a shot.

I am usually not worried about us playing City, but Peps City is a different prospect altogether. We will lose with hardly any attempts and attempts on target. Welcome to the new season, same as last season (with the exception of a lower points total).

I like Cazorla but the bloke just does not have the dynamism to play in CM for a side serious about winning the title.

Especially not if you are playing Ozil as well.
