Pre-season Friendlies Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Think Gabriel was in genuine agony there, does not look good for his season especially the way they had immobilised it :banghead:

I knew we'd have a chance once that overrated gobshite Joe Hart was brought on

Iwobi is surely going to be sold if he keeping daring to shoot like that

I'm tired of seeing us make the same mistakes. Why the fuck do we pass it around in the defensive third? Cech gets way too many touches with the ball with his feet. Our sideways passing in our half always ends up with a desperate pass back to Cech. We have invited pressure on ourselves too many times with that shit. We still refuse to defend crosses either.

Guardiola was breaking the rules by giving in-game instructions to his players

Arsenal Player coverage is laughable. I feel sorry for anyone who has to watch that shit for every game. North Korean state TV has nothing on them. Pure propaganda and laughably incorrect when they assume that Bould is allowed any input and that TOF says anything more than 'Go and play your game'. No wonder we always make the same mistakes every season. I suppose offering our ex-reserves and youths jobs with Arsenal Player makes them too grateful to justifiably criticize the team.

Another defender out for months :banghead:

Internal Solutions! :suicide:

Unreal last seconds of the game two CB's out for the season it looks awful for Gabriel.
Not wishing ill on the bloke but if Wenger has to go out and sign another CB hell struggle to find as much of a liability as Gabriel.

I agree NB however i just know Wenger will piss about for days before deciding he needs cover for Gabriel, then not find anyone, then fall back on internal solutions, oh and you can bet that Mustafa's price just went up £5-10M if not more :cussing:

Debuchy or Monreal will play CB next Sunday alongside Chambers will be my guess .

All the inaction in the transfer market will cost us yet again.....any CB we go for the selling club will have us over a barrel likewise any striker move another well planned out window that bloke in charge will never learn.

I think Monreal will fill the void at CB next week. Played there before and done alright. Guessing it will be him an Chambers as CB pairing. Wenger must go out and buy at least 1 centre back now though. Not looking good for Gabriel. I can see it being a long term lay off.

Wenger's just said we're looking but it's not an easy market for us :banghead: why is it harder for us than any other club

Absolutely Gabriel is an accident waiting to happen....afraid he is not what you would call a thinking defender
He will cost games if he plays regularly

Don't worry...remember we have a ream of scouts working 24hrs a day. With that level of dedication they must have a huge dossier of players. All we need to do is pick the highest rated CB (or 2) from the list and bid for them. Easy isn't it?

Just need that quality centre back and a striker to get 20 plus goals a season and they would not be far away

but as ever just 2 or so players away, thats frustrating
Was just thinking something similar, we're going to leak goals at times and struggle to score at others which will mean we wont compete for another season, we have a team good enough for 4th comfortably i believe but not good enough to challenge when it matters as usual :banghead:

yes we are just short again.....how long did it take him to address the middle of the park when we were getting bullied every fucking week
no more by luck than judgement that looks sorted, we have to wait for the final pieces...we desperately need a quality CB and goalscoring striker

The poor guys injured and all that, but just watch Gabriel's positioning and awareness for their 2nd goal, tells you all you need to know
