no point speculating until Wenger decides he has had enough. a lot of people on here have been waiting nearly a decade for this to happen..mattdede wrote:Wenger has been the best manager in the premier league in terms of turning a club into a solid business.
No he hasnt - we could have a much better business if we actually won some bigger trophies. If we were a leading worldwide club (which potentially we could be) we would generate far more money than we currently do
We are most financially stable then any club in the world in my honest opinion. As a business owner I would want my manager to be like him.
what use is being financially stable? see my above point
However you also need to keep your fans, or clients in my case, happy. That means upgrading players (software), stadiums (premises) and trophies (hmmm struggling to find a comparison with this one in my case).
as I have said we need to win the bigger trophies
Anyway, we can't knock the old boy. He has turned our club around. I agree we need a new injection of fresh air. What manager is there that we could possible get to take on the reigns? Mourinho?! Pep? Klopp? Seriously these guys just spend spend spend. That's all good but look at our stadium, facilities, food, venue, it's top notch.
what do you mean he has turned our club around ? He merely continued the success that George Graham enjoyed in the 90s at Arsenal.
the last decade though he has led the club into decline and will leave the club with the fanbase split.
There are always better managers out there. There are always younger, hungrier managers ready to replace dinosaurs like Wenger.
Yes our stadium is ok, but it has no atmosphere due to corporate seats in the mid tier. Look at the plans for Liverpool's and Spurs new grounds. Their facilities will be much better. West Ham even have more season ticket holders than us now...
I sound bias but maybe that's because i have 10 season tickets and 2 platinums plus i run the finance office for the hospitality company, so I live and breathe the club. But still , we are a solid club. We just need a manager that doesn't just want to spend all the cash and f*ck us
yes good old solid club. Going nowhere, achieving fuck all, but yes we are solid. However solid doesnt get you anywhere in football apart from eventual decline
Any ideas of a manager that has it all??

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I wonder what the opinion of football fans in general is of Wenger and Mourinho? everyone should despise Mourinho, if nothing else, for being a classless prick, but It's Wenger who enjoys talking about every other team, yet throws the toys out of the pram at even slight criticism thrown his way. Also, most fans know that Wenger is a loser, who is lucky to find himself at a club that's happy to be mediocre, and someone like that shouldn't be shouting his mouth off. Imagine making yourself more irritating than Mourinho, that's an achievement.augie wrote:From todays arseblog :
Once again the media are happy to pick up his baton and run with it because he generates headlines and clicks and that’s the world we live in.
Too few of them actually question his motives, too few of them actually dare confront him or call it out for what it is"
Could he finally be criticising wenker for his ineptitude ??No of course not cos it is the portugese arrogant c.unt he is slating
A man that refuses point blank to criticise arsole wenker or any of the w*nkers running our club. has to cheek to slate meeja guys for failing to criticise moaninho............slightly ironic don't you think ?

Please tell me you're on the wind-up... the old "who could replace him"? Literally anyone with an ounce of tactical nous. What about Low, Koeman, Ancelotti, Simeone (off the top of my head)? Conte has also moved this summer.mattdede wrote: What manager is there that we could possible get to take on the reigns? Mourinho?! Pep? Klopp? Seriously these guys just spend spend spend. This type of pussified, bed-wetting shite is exactly why we are where we are - no league title in 12 years, failure to get beyond the last-16 of the Chumps League for about 6 years now, gaping holes in the squad left unaddressed for years, Walcott on 140k a week.... but don't worry because our food is "top notch"?mattdede wrote:Anyway, we can't knock the old boy

In the seven years before Wenger arrived we had won the League twice, done a domestic cup double (when domestic cups sill meant a huge amount) and won a major European trophy. AND - we were one of the three most successful English clubs of all time, based in London with a colossal fan base.
Christ Almighty - listening to some of you Wenger apologists you'd think that Wenger took over a non-league outfit and transformed them all on his own. He was good 15 years ago but now he is holding Arsenal back!!

At this point can I just remind you all, that no matter how deluded or silly the post/comment, we need you to respond without resorting to personal abuse.
No matter how fucking difficult that might be.

I find it quite refreshing to see there are people defending Wenger who are still willing to come on here.
bit of a novelty - I thought they were all extinct.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
One of the criticisms we get leveled at us here is that we are not inclusive and only allow anti-Wenger stuff on the Gooner forum. Which is not true. We encourage AKB's to come on here and post a sensible defence of the man, but equally we expect ant-Wengerites to reply without resorting to personal abuse. TBH I'm genuinely baffled by anyone that can still believe Wenger is the right man for the job and I'm always interested to hear their reasoning.Gunner Rob wrote:I find it quite refreshing to see there are people defending Wenger who are still willing to come on here.

My responses in red;
mattdede wrote:Wenger has been the best manager in the premier league in terms of turning a club into a solid business. We are not a business, we are a football club.
We are most financially stable then any club in the world in my honest opinion. As a business owner I would want my manager to be like him. See above.
However you also need to keep your fans, or clients in my case, happy. That means upgrading players (software), stadiums (premises) and trophies (hmmm struggling to find a comparison with this one in my case). I am offended by being called a "client" or a "customer". Those terms have no place in football.
Turned us around from what? What were we before Wenger took over? Counting league titles we were level 2nd most successful club in the English top flight. We were a massive successful club with the longest run in the top flight. We are now the 3rd most successful, so no real huge improvement there, huh? There are many many managers that could take over and actually try to win the PL, rather than just deliver the false God that is CL qualification. The stadium is not "top notch". It is a souless generic bowl suited to boring sports like American Football or Baseball. I hate the place.
I sound bias but maybe that's because i have 10 season tickets and 2 platinums plus i run the finance office for the hospitality company, so I live and breathe the club. But still , we are a solid club. We just need a manager that doesn't just want to spend all the cash and f*ck us. You think having 10 season tickets makes you a genuine fan? It doesn't.
Any ideas of a manager that has it all?? A manager does not have to "have it all". He just needs to be pragmatic and learn from his mistakes.
