Indeed - but guess what....in the world of Inspector Clueless its because we had players that went deep into the Euros. Now who would have thought that Germany and the hosts France would get to the final stages eh?northbank123 wrote:Starting the first game of the season with Chambers, Holding, Coquelin, Elneny and Walcott makes a mockery of us masquerading as title challengers.
Yet again we go into the first game of the season not just under strength but undercooked and physically unprepared and yet again it's a first day humiliation in front of our own fans who s the m quite content for this to continue year on year.

Don't think anybody could suggest that Bould could feasibly undermine Wenger or change his ways.GranadaJoe wrote:Jumpers For Goalposts wrote:Agree 100% with this.SPARKSY wrote:northbank123 wrote:Wenger and that gawping prick Steve Bould just sitting there as goal after goal went in.
Any shock that such a poor and inexperienced defensive line shipped in four goals at home?
After the roaring success of Jenkinson and Chambers, nice to see Wenger continue his policy of plucking lower league players and thrusting them straight into our defence.
Just like Pat Rice before him, What does Steve Bould do to earn his wage?? It definitely ain't training our defence
I loved Steve Bould as a player but as Wenger's No2 he is just a pile of No2. A perfect example of someone who is prepared to act dumb and take the money on offer rather than tell his useless boss what a complete tosser he is. Like so many ex players I've lost all respect for Bould.
I remember a few years back people slagging off Pat Rice and now Bould is in the spotlight.
Could those critics having a go tell us how they know what Bould does at the moment and what they would like him to do?
Wenger rules the club as does Maureenho, Pep, Klopp etc. Are there any No.2s in the PL who do anything other than what their manager tells them to do?
My gripe is that on a forum where everyone from the kit man to the tea lady gets caned for being part of the "regime", Wenger's right-hand man is completely immune from stigma for many.
Might paint a nice picture to portray him as a silent martyr and regurgitate bullshit rumours about him having players up against the wall ( calm down - by their throats!) or tearing into the dressing room, but the reality is that he is the biggest AKB in football.
If Henry gets criticised for earning a fortune to air his feeble views then Bould deserves a hammering for earning a fortune to keep his mouth shut. How people can want him to stay post-Wenger or even advocate him as an interim managerial prospect is beyond comprehension.
Re: Victlms fc at home Sun 14th August
That second half was pathetic. Why did they take Theo off at half time - he did almost OK for 5 minutes !!. Any team watching that game will realize that if they press us at the back and don't let us play out we're f ucked.

Who gets caned??
AW, the Board and the medical team. All culpable.
The TH14 analogy isn't logical. He is paid to give honest analysis of football games, which he doesn't do when AW is involved. Therefore, he's not doing his job.
Bould's job is to be an assistant to the manager, so unless anyone has seen his job description and has evidence to the contrary, we should assume he is doing the job AW wants him to do. That's what he would have agreed to do when accepting the job.
We may wish that he would take charge and sort out the defence, but that's not his decision. AW chooses his support staff and his players and he is the one we should be directing all our bile at.

yes agree strange though as its just not Steve Bould, looking at his face he seems to be getting eaten up inside with frustration just like Pat Rice before himJumpers For Goalposts wrote:Agree 100% with this.SPARKSY wrote:northbank123 wrote:Wenger and that gawping prick Steve Bould just sitting there as goal after goal went in.

Even though Wenger has shat him on re: the coaching role he still shy's away from telling the Absolute Truth - He 'hints' at it but just doesn't come out and give it both barrels.

I agree. I don't know where this idea came from that an assistant manager is going to pull up the manager. Can anyone name one assistant manager that has done that? The AM's job is to "assist" the manager - the clue is in the job title - not countermand or undermine him. At the job interview (or phone call or whatever) the manager will have laid out his objectives and intentions etc and the AM signs on to support that.GranadaJoe wrote:northbank123 wrote:Don't think anybody could suggest that Bould could feasibly undermine Wenger or change his ways.GranadaJoe wrote:Jumpers For Goalposts wrote:Agree 100% with this.SPARKSY wrote:

Y'know, there is also the possibility that Bould agrees with Wenger's plan.... he will look on Wenger very differently to the way we do, he will look on him as the man that made the latter stages of Bould's career very successful.... just saying...

As far as I can see the idea that an assistant can "pull up" the manager is a straw man argument.
Bould is not on the same spectrum of culpability as Wenger or the board and nor can he be expected to radically change Wenger, but the bottom line is that he is a central part of this regime where the players have no discipline, no tactical understanding, no fundamental comprehension of how to defend and the biggest lack of leadership and backbone in the country. And his contribution is to sit there on the bench next to Wenger making the same head gestures and the same hand signals.
So no, whilst he's not primarily responsible by any means, the bloke certainly doesn't deserve exemption from criticism.

Re: Victlms fc at home Sun 14th August
The reason why bould gets criticised (rightly in my opinion) is cos it is generally accepted/believed that he is given no power or authority inside the club - that leads to the question as to why any self respecting person would continually allowed themselves to be treated like that, and of course the obvious answer is.........money
If he would rather sell his soul (in a similar way to a whore selling her hole
) than to fcuk off and make a career for himself elsewhere then so be it, but then for me he is a part of the problem not the solution, and should be treated accordingly
Have to say that the day wenker was sick and put the fitness trainer in charge of training instead of bould, was the day that bould should have said fcuk this and walked out - I lost a lot of respect for the man over that
