THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So NOW he's ready. Wonder what opened his eyes to make this comment? Abysmal horror defending show against pool perhaps or just another big fat lie?

I find it laughable that TOF made up that FIFA 'rule' saying he had to give players four weeks off after a summer tournament. He's used that excuse for a few years now, but only now do the hacks call him out, quietly, on his bullshit.

I hear that the betting odds favour TOF staying on after this season.

286 days until the last day renewal :banghead:

The demented dictator says the same thing every season at some stage.........'We are ready to spend'............and there's always the same caveat to it.......'if we find the right person'. To him, the right person is someone like Pogba or Messi for 10m, hence no signings! Even fucking Crystal Palace are outspending us but of course, nothing much is happening according to our demented dictator, just the 100 odd transfers and £1billion spent this window.........guess he must have been in France or something whilst it was all happening!!?? :roll: :banghead:

Oh, the best thing......Welbz is back at Christmas......no need for another striker then, great timing on that 'good' news Wonga you lying c'unt.

How embarrassing. :oops: :oops:

Still, the only thing worse than being turned down by Johhny Fucking Evans would be actually signing Johnny Fucking Evans. :roll:

Now that you put it that way, I can see Wenger using that as an excuse when we do sign the fucker and he fails;

"Well, errr... zis anonymous bloke on ze Gooner forum was behind zis signing, leetle beet red zone, maybe lettle beet jaded...."

Benteke would have been an upgrade on our current striker options, essentially Giroud who has never been a top-class finisher and Wellback who is a decent squad option but even when fit would never be a 25-goal-a-year merchant.

Ashley Williams would have been an upgrade on our current central defensive options, and he is a leader which we haven't had since the invincibles era.

So when these guys end up at Crystal Palace and Everton for relatively modest sums of money, how can anyone believe the old fool when he says there is no-one available in the positions we need?

Neither would Benteke.

Benteke is the same level as Giroud - PL average at best. No way I'd view him as an upgrade. Not a chance. And if anything you would not get Giroud's often effective link up play with Benteke. There's a reason he's going to Palace (and not Citeh, chavs or Manure) from Liverpool.

Williams I'd take - but of course Wenger wants CH's that pass and play tippy tappy, Williams would be too "industrial" for his taste... :roll:
