no doubt the league title will come down to the two best managers in the league. unfortunately they both reside in manchester.

meanwhile, wenger has his thumb up his ass being a stickler about a few million pounds. how long til may?

Arsene Wenger has hinted he is ready to ditch his plans to sign a new centre forward this summer.

"The Arsenal manager insists Alexis Sanchez can play regularly as a striker this season whilst also claiming his squad already has extensive options in the position.

And the Arsenal manager has dropped a major hint that he may not land a new forward by claiming Sanchez can fulfil the role.

'Is Sanchez a long-term solution through the middle? I think yes. I think it is worth to try as he has the quality to go behind.

'On the flanks he uses a lot of energy by chasing back and I would like to use his energy sometimes a bit more efficiently by going behind the defenders as he is a good finisher.

'He has similar qualities to Luis Suarez. He is technically top.'

On the prospect of signing a new forward, Wenger added: 'I believe a club like ours is focused on giving chances to the players we develop in our own club".

This doesn't sound like our free wheeling, devil may care manager, does it??

To be honest I'd take Manuel Almunia at this stage 8)
Or Manuel from Fawlty Towers.

I'm not so sure about this. I still think that the resources are there, Ivan the fuckwit has said that many times and so has wenker himself. Financially the club is in top condition, all the facilities are top notch so why wouldn't world class manager want to take the job? There are managers out there who has done great job with much smaller resources like Simeoni to name one.
I agree. For reasons I listed earlier I don't think we will struggle to appoint a decent new manager. The problem is vacating the manager's job. Wenger will not walk away. The owner/board will not sack him. The problem is NOT replacing him. The problem is removing him. :|
Only time will tell on this one. I seriously hope to be proved wrong by the board.
Removing him is easy...its the emotional...sorry...the financial attachment the board have with him. Wenger makes them money by somehow delivering champions league football every season. By hook or by crook, he'll do it again this season. I'm still laughing at how we managed to finish second last season, above Spurs...no trophy but still funny as fuck.
Then how is it "easy" to remove him?
Set him a target of Champions League win , or he's out. And, stick to it! A bit late as it looks likely this will be his last season.
Yes this would do IF the board actually wanted him out but they don't. The hard part is to make them want to get rid of the old goat and that unfortunately won't happen until the money stop growing in their trees.

Do you guys think the board is taking our money ? Alexis is not a striker and looked lost in that horrible lonely striker role.
He was outnumbered the whole game and will not enjoy playing there. If he fails to impress it's not his fault. Our formation is wrong and he is out of position

Wenger is at home swiveling around in his his leather chair, stroking his cat and laugh maniacally at how things are progressing according to plan.

Get all the focus on transfers and before you know it, we've bought a couple of duds and you realise that it's still Wenger in charge of this car crash.

A number of today's papers have long, considered articles (and one by Robbie Savage) having a go at Wenger.

There's references to the Suarez debacle, the players he's bought (Sanogo,Park, Chamakh etc), the cost of tickets, the lie sold to fans about the move to the Bowl, lack of a CB, a striker and a lack of spirit and leaders in the team. All the stuff we've been bitching about for years.

I think the mood is turning and it'll be interesting to see how TOF reacts.

What else is new....he has a long history of playing players out of position and putting their career on the skids. Square pegs in round holes.Have you ever seen anybody, anywhere who is so inflexible?? He gets an idea, a plan, and he implements it, then if it doesn't work unlike most people who would go back to the drawing board....... not him, he'll stick to it no matter the cost, he cannot accept that he could be wrong. And it is everybody else who pays for the mistakes he cannot even acknowledge.

His ego is what is destroying the club, it is actually difficult to quantify just how toxic this man has become.

It will be a case of "I am sorry I cannot please everybody, 100 per cent of the time"

I think Arsenal will today this ... but as much as I try, I just cannot think of anything positive that would come from a victory at Leicester.

What exactly does it help towards winning games like this and the next one against Watford?

There seems no point to our existence as a club at the moment because they do not set themselves any new challenges. Quite clearly, there is nothing they're aiming for that is a step up from repeating what they've done in the previous 10 seasons.

I want some passion back but there is nothing and nobody at Arsenal to ignite it. Quite the opposite in fact the way Wenger does things :banghead:

Wenger is literally the worst Arsenal manager in my lifetime. Greedy, egotistical, incompetent, waster.

It is good the mood is turning but the problem I have with these journalists is where were they 6-7 years ago? As you say, its the stuff we've been bitching about for years.

What they're writing now would have been equally valid back then but instead many of them chose to make derogatory and patronising comments towards anyone criticising Wenger ... and they chose to have a dig at Arsenal fans who it turns out knew exactly what was happening.

Even the more respectable writers like Henry Winter were far too slow to see the signs. Only now, when its undeniable do these journalist start to acknowledge the problems. I struggle to respect them for this. I know they have to have a wider view of the game than us partisan fans do but when writing specifically about Arsenal they chose to back Wenger. They were wrong and they are part of the problem.

Sports journalists like to be portrayed as experts in their profession and I am sure they get paid handsomely so I would have expected more expertise and insight. And more courage.

But it seems the football world is a world where people get paid obscene money to produce nothing special.

Sports journalists are arseholes, but I'm happy that they're starting to target AW.

Also, on Sky Merson, Charlie Nicholas and others have just torn into Wenger and the club.

Merse said that Wenger's view that ' I won't pay more than I think a player is worth' is bollocks. He asked how the club would react if fans said they only want to pay 700 quid for a season ticket because we've won fuck all for years and that's all they feel a season ticket is worth.

Nicholas questioned how it took months to tie up the Rob Holding signing when he was only a couple of million quid from the bottom club in the Championship.

It may be late but better late than never.
