As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I do hope its Draxler - another attacking midfielder is so obviously the priority
True although Wenger probably feels he is the striker we need, or maybe even the centre back we are desperate for, who knows how his warped mind works.
Although he probably have to work extra shifts as the toilet cleaner to cover for the wages he'd earn!
Draxler isn't coming, Wenger said last night we have to look after the existing 600 employees on the payroll. Heaven forbid a burger flipper losing their job, off the back of such selfish thoughts in buying a quality striker.

northbank123 wrote:Absolutely right - signing players from the 10-15m bracket is often a false economy because we end up getting zero value out of them. Two years ago we spent nearly 30m on two right-backs and they have both been a complete disaster here.
We would be far better off financially (not to mention football-wise) had we signed Higuain rather than Welbeck and shipped out either Giroud or Walcott.
There is at least one more panic signing left for us this window and it will probably mean being lumbered with a £1m striker who just isn't good enough and probably has a dodgy injury record to boot.
Either you're talking about VanJudas or Sonogoals (He's not even worth a second class stamp)

Are the 600 employees coming ?
So, wenger will be bringing on one of the Loo Cleaners as CB....a sweeper Upper as they used to say.

Maybe Joel finally listened to the Stoke three and got out of the club while he could?
I don't know, Campbell was far from perfect but he worked hard and had a goal and assist in him. He was far better than Ox and Theo last season yet you always knew he'd be the one to get pushed out.
Oh well, I'm going to put my optimistic (deluded) hat on and say we've only loaned him to Sporting because we've agreed to take one of their forwards in return. Quick look at wikipedia shows they have a striker called Islam Slimani who scored 27 league goals last season so I reckon he'll be at Arsenal before the end of August

Exactly. I gave him a hard time and still don't think he'd ever amount to more than a rotation option at a top club, but Campbell was immeasurably better than the pair of them last year.

What that loan deal almost certainly means is that the phantom player we're supposedly very close to signing is undoubtedly a winger / wide midfielder
ONE ARSENE WENGER.......THERE'S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER
Which transfer market are you talking about - the External or Internal transfer market?
The external one. You may well have missed it in years gone by as it exists for around 5 minutes between 2355 hrs and midnight on deadline day. Its a bit like Haley's Comet - blink and you'll miss it.
Can't wait till Shit for Brains expects the adoring Armoury windowlickers to slide down his pole when a £50m winger arrives on deadline day plus Jonny Evans.
The internal market is the one that will see us have an abundance of strikers to choose from - Giroud, Alexis, Walcott, Welbeck, Akpom and Sanogoals. I'm just sorry that they didn't cost 50m
