Can't help feeling we are seriously scraping the bowl here. What is this Wenger said about signing quality. The guy has no pedigree and indeed was released by Athletico as a teenager. If he joins I will welcome the signing and hope he succeeds, but this is in no way a statement of intent imo.
Not arguing the scraping the bowl point, but does it really mean anything if he was a late bloomer? There are loads of examples of players who didn't make the grade as a teenager who did the business later on.

If we sign him, I will hope that he does well, but not well enough for Wenger to keep his job (unless we are actually challenging for the big pots - which we all know won't happen with Wenger).

My question would be why we are suddenly looking at a lot of La Liga talent? It makes me think that Simeone is in the pipeline (a man can dream)... :D

Thierry Henry is on SS1 PL Legends right now. Where did it all go wrong that we are trying to laud this utter bullshit of a transfer window this summer. It just smacks of desperation trying to feel optimism over someone who wouldn't make our third team 12 years ago.

From: BBC (Gossip) Website:

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could face competition from Leicester City for versatile Monaco defender Marcel Tisserand, 23. (Daily Mirror)

The Gunners want Newcastle United centre-back Chancel Mbemba, 22. (Bleacher Report)

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho would reject any offer from Arsenal for defender Phil Jones, 24, because he does not want to do business with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger. (Evening Standard) :barscarf: :high5: :D

Arsenal have made contact with Sporting Lisbon about the potential signing of striker Islam Slimani, 28. (HITC)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37185258

The Daily Star report that Wales manager Chris Coleman has accused Arsene Wenger of treating Aaron Ramsey differently to the rest of Arsenal’s Euro 2016 stars (Star Sport)

Why??/ Because he's one of Arsene's Lurv Children.

Looks amazing on Youtube tbf, if he's better than Giroud he will do.
Yeah - the Youtube clips look very good. Plays off the last man and has good pace. Can play on the wing or up front and has an eye for a pass. Not the earth-shattering signing that we wanted, but it's a signing that we desperately need. The thing is, we should have bought him a couple of months back rather than drop points.

If he buys the Mussachio guy, it would be a decent signing as well. We would have a defender who used to partner Gabriel, so language wouldn't be an issue any longer ;-) I suspect that is why Chambers is being sent to play elsewhere. We must be close to buying a defender.
Always remember - it's the hope that kills you, man. :(

Yeah! As Elijah Mo-moominsaga once said to the ancient Jethrali Warrior Eebknock Kneebuckle - "Hope is more deadly than a loaded gun."

Just get ready Rodders...make sure you ask for someone to remove all sharp objects and anything combustible within reach during the last hour of on the last night of the trolley dash transfer debacle.

I agree.
The French league is dire and there is no noise about other clubs being interested in Lazacette.

Deportivo finished one place above Granada, but they were pretty shit. They only won eight games and only scored 45 goals, so Perez's 17 goals represents well over a third of their total.
I've only seen him a few times. He looks OK, but I wouldn't get excited. But we do need another striker and he is a striker. And relatively cheap, so I guess he's a possibility.

He has one huge advantage over Giroud...pace. Giroud has always been a bit of a strange signing for me, a classic Wenger desperation misfit. For a team that thrives on speed of attack, having that lampost up front always perplexed me.

Cadena SER Coruña: 'Deportivo reject bid from Arsenal who want to pay Lucas Perez's €20m release clause in two instalments.'
The banter never ends.

I see we're in for a bunch of no-marks for this trolley-dash. How glorious! This is why they bulldozed Highbury :barscarf:

Exactly I don't know what's worse making the bid for the player in the first place or trying to negotiate a repayment plan.

His name is Arsene Wonga after all...............

Well, that keeps my hopes alive. I am hoping that Everton beat us to him with a loss to Watford immediately following.

£17m is just £2m more than Premiership heavy-weights and financial powerhouses Bournmouth spent on a player this summer. We left Highbury for this.
