WALCOTT - which position is best etc?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

He's a good squad member and I hope he picks up this season after being dropped by both club and country.

Is the crunt still here ? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Btw there is not another club in the world that would pay wally £140k per week, so that is no doubt a big reason for his "loyalty"

Liverpool would, as would Chelski a couple of years ago.

And how many other clubs would have stumped up 140k a week for very intermittent performances?

Fabregas and van Persie both operated on a world class level and hence chose to go. Flaming chose to leave because he wasn't paid as wel here and not valued massively. Walcott couldn't find anywhere else to pay or value him as highly as we do.

Hmm, I'm not a Theo hater by any stretch but there's no way in hell I'm going to applaud his loyalty.

He's grossly overpaid for what he produces on the pitch and clearly isn't giving everything he has to offer. Wenger pretty much confirmed this by suggesting we'd see a different Theo this season if he can remain focused. Some may read that positively, but to me it just confirms what I'd already concluded - he lacks the focus and motivation to be a top player and has coasted through his career safe in the knowledge he's a multi-millionaire.

I hope we get to see the real Theo now that his stock has fallen and was dropped for the Euro's because he has a lot to offer, but his easy ride over the past decade has clearly extinguished the fire in his belly.

what the fudge!

we should apply ad through for being loyal?

for earning 140k a week money that he would earn no where else and for being mostly average to shit with the odd decent run and spurs scaring thrown in?
loyal for playing like the exact same callow 16 year old we signed developing zilch in the decade since.
loyal for happening to be a sprinter who has somehow been put on a football pitch?

very strange post Nos89. theory owes arsenal for being loyal to him not the other way around. a squad member should not be on 140k a week at a club not enamoured with striking/winger resources.

your akb mask is slipping!

Good post g88ner. It is how I kinda look at him too. He reminds me of a wealthy bloke playing 5-a-side on a Thursday night after work. Just happy with his lot, trotting around, tomorrow's dress-down Friday, just chugging along, might go out for a pizza and a movie after work tomorrow, happy with his lot, enjoying the game, might buy that new iPhone on Saturday morning, just passing the ball about a bit, but doing nothing that might risk an injury or a bit of real effort.

Maybe that is what Wenker alluded to ?

Theo was not going in to challenges, or putting himself about where he should - either because he was scared to injure himself badly again or scared to pick up an injury that would make him miss his beloved England squad at the euro's (I know its so ironic isn't it)

I haven't seen much evidence of him ever putting himself on the line so to speak (Ozil, who is roundly criticized has got more headed goals than our self styled centre forward Wally in significantly less appearances)

The Theo PR machine gearing up again i see....."we are going to see a different Theo this season" and other such shite

He should have been out on his arse after the season he just had...half the games he never even broke sweat

The only reason they can't get rid is no one will pay his wages on £140K a week....

He is a football coward, always bottles the situation if he has time to think....no football brain, no awareness or football vision on the pitch
basically he runs fast.....

Surprisingly self praising article from the greatest self promoting and modest footballer in the world today

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/ ... ene-wenger

I particularly like the part where he says "I want it more than anyone else, but that's just me and the way that I work now" - I suppose we are to infer that a c.unt earning £140k per week didn't really give a shit in the past ?

Looks like he's worked on his fitness, looks leaner than last season. Should've had a hat trick on Saturday. Noticeable that Ozil is not a fan of Theo.

I know Theo drives us up the wall most of the time but the one thing you cant dispute is his contribution of goals,a fit on form Theo deserves his team place, lets face it we are never gonna sign Franck Ribery or Di Maria and anyway name me a really good winger, better than Wally that we could buy? Mahrez hasn't shone anymore than Theo this season so far after that im struggling to name one,oh hang on Serge Gnabry would be nice but we could never buy a player like that :banghead:

Let's hope he continues this form all season. I am really surprised so far.

Theo has these spells of form most seasons. Then he makes a few comments in the press about how he feels he's better this year than last and how the group are close and we are blah blah blah zzzzzzzzzzzz.... and then he turns to shit. :|

He's been excellent so far, but it won't last, unfortunately.
