The ''no one is coming'' Transfer Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

hang on, have I missed something or is Debuchy still at Arsenal? :?

If so, I'm surprised but pleased he's still here as we don't really have an alternative right back until Jenkinson is fit.

So..we spend a fair bit of money on positions that we desperately need strengthening in...and I still feel underwhelmed and still not very optimistic. Only at bloody Arsenal.
Oh well..time to get behind the team for the season, hope wenger doesn't get a new contract and we finish above the vermin. I would class that as success for this season.

Speaking of the vermin 30m for Sissoko
The Geordies fans on social media are fucking ecstatic about it

To be honest i'm more than willing to give Perez a chance. :rubchin:

For one you're arguing both sides of his his goal scoring record but as he was used as a winger/wing forward for much of his time at other clubs it skews his goals stats whereas Giroud has always been used as an out and out striker for us so you can't compare the stats for them.

2nd he has not had the quality around him at other clubs which he will have here and sometimes that is all you need as a striker, someone to make the chances for you.

3rd we were never going to get the big name striker we all craved, this is Arsene FC ffs so i don't know what you're all crying about get a grip

My big worry as with others on here is AW, he'll either put him out on the wing or use him as a sub for Giroud and that will not give him a chance to prove himself in front of goal.

As for Mustafi i've only seen him play a handful of times for Germany and Valencia but he did seem to be a no nonsense defender from what i did see, no fcuking about, tackle and get rid. :box:

Xhaka has promise (I know we want the finished article but see point 3 on Perez) and is young and may survive his experience under Wenger relatively intact if we can get rid of the old bsatard ASAP. :barscarf:

TBH - and this is going to sound bizarre given the beasting I've given Sturridge on here - I'd take him on loan BUT ONLY if we had a real top striker instead of Giroud. Sturridge is a useless cúnt, less use than Giroud even, but he could chip in with 5 - 10 goals and they may be the goals that win you a cup or the PL. I'm all for squad building BUT I'd never take him permanently as a viable first choice striker. Never. Ever.

As things are, with bog average Giroud as current first choice, why would we take on a bloke who is worse?

And why take on a bloke who does that fucking retarded stupid fucking dance every time he scores?  Which, lucky enough, is only about 6 times a season...

There were a limit of strikers available so to see if we did good buisness I will compare Perez to the guy Leicester signed for 30 Million last night. After the season is over we will know.

I'd argue that as good as the Xhaka and Mustafi signings are, they become pointless, due to us not signing a world class striker. Last season, we had problems at CB, but it was up front that cost us the title. The amount of straightforward chances missed by Giroud, had a huge bearing on our title challenge going up in smoke. Also, a world class striker will create chances out of nothing. Perez may turn out to be a quality player, but its rather pathetic to think that almost a decade after Henry left, we are forced to take a punt on a nobody from La Liga.

So Slimani cost 30 Million has only played outside Algeria for 3 years and in the Portuguese league which is not high quality. He is 28 so we shall see.

On a serious level, can the mods shut down this fcuker now ? There will always be a transfer thread on here (sadly) but surely it is better to have a different transfer thread for every window or season ?

tbh it's just easier to have the one constant open transfer thread and let people add to it as they please. It does its job when the windows roll around and puts in a nice subs appearance in between windows even though it may look a leetle beet red zone with ze handbrake on after 30 years in football...

The GROUNDHOG Transfer Thread

Post by OneBardGooner »

Besides there would be too much animosity between the Mods as to whom should shut the fukka down.... :box: :box: :box:

We all know that every season under Wenker will be a Groundhog season, so why not have a Groundhog Transfer window that goes on and on and on and on and on and on........with no real improvement - or any satisfaction.

And should there ever come a time when we can finally shut the Groundhog Transfer Thread down...Maybe the Mods can run a competition and whoever comes up with the most creative and appropriate way gets to do just that!

BOOM!
