that is just disgusting, pure greed on behalf of the club.
PSG have never even reached a European Cup final and so can hardly be considered to be a real super club like Barcelona, Real Madrid etc.

I could maybe understand if it was at the knock out stages but it is not - it is just a group stage game in a competition we don't even try to compete in. Anyone who goes to this is a complete MUG
But PSG are seeded, so must be a super, top, top European club ( because we are not seeded anymore)
Club probably prefer being 2nd pot so they can charge Cat A price for 1 more match. :censored:
Super, top, top, European club as in "the elite clubs in Europe" that we are currently "competing" with?

Them? :rubchin:

That's the one's........We are on their shoulders don't you know. :barscarf:

Oh yippee!! :barscarf: :barscarf:

Does any Arsenal fan still care about the Champions League anymore?

I couldn't care less. We are further away from winning it now than we have ever been!!!!

Me too - could not give a shit. It has become so bloated and boring I just don't care.

I used to want us to win it even just once to be able to get that monkey off our backs and be considered a "truly big club etc" but when little clubs like the chavs can win it, and most of the teams in it are not champions, it just devalues the shit out of it, and I now no longer rate it as a major trophy tbh. Would rather win the PL every time.

If it went back to being a knock out cup competition for champions ONLY like the old proper European cup I would desperately want us to win it. 8)

more lovely money coming in for Wiggy and Wengers wages......no fucking chance of winning it though
Alot of that must be down to our exploitation of the Asian and African markets surely? Also, our home jersey in particular is one of the most distinctive, instantly recognisable and coolest basic designs with the red body/white sleeves, so would appeal to the casual fan too. 8)

Still, surprised to hear we are ahead of Manure and Madrid tbh...
Yes places like Nigeria, everyone seems to support Arsenal...as for Man utd and Madrid mere minnows compared to us :D

I don't care about it either. For the same reasons

As can been seen on page 5, TOF's CL record is poor to bang average. His 'purple patch' in the Be All and End All was 2004-10 - 3 QFs, 1 SF and 1 runners-up appearance. Since then it has become utterly meaningless and borderline embarrassing.

The worst thing is, I think that this damn competition is the main reason he's still here :banghead:

It's a shame that QFs can now be viewed as forming part of a purple patch.

No reason why we shouldn't expect to be in Europe's top 8 with our stature and resources.

For quite a few years we were actually seeded as the 8th best team, so our failure to even reach the quarter finals many years was indicative of under performing - but it got spun as " 14 consecutive qualifications, 15 consecutive, 16 consecutive, 17" etc etc to cover up the failure.

Why should the club give a fuck about winning the Be All and End All?

The club stand to make:
  • €12M for group stage participation

    €1.5M per group win

    €500K per group draw

    €5.5M per R16 reaming
They shall be disappointed that they didn't make the €2.1M+ for getting through to the group via the play-off. Of course, there will be no more play-offs for the Fourth Place Trophy now. No wonder we call it the Money League.

All that fucking money we make and we won't spend it on anyone useful or reduce ticket prices.

Pathetic, isn't it?

Scandalous, really :banghead:

TOF thinking he can still win this competition is like a man with no arms trying to knock out Mike Tyson

It was laughable that we were top seed in the group for so many years when we had to go through the play-off to get in.

Had they not changed the rules to (rightfully) give champions the top seed, we would have slid down the order anyway. The co-efficients take into account the past five seasons. Seeing as we've done fuck-all special since 2010, it stands to reason.

I see we're 11th in the UEFA rankings as of this season. Fighting off the giants of Porto and Sevilla. Citeh are close to overtaking us in the near future. Dortmund, PSG and Benfica are above us. Chelsea are still above us, despite not being in it this year.

Still, we're above Manure and the scum

Anyway, it's now 19 qualifications in a row this season 8)

No, having finished above 4th last year there was to be no revenue from the play off game so they have bumped up the category of the PSG game from grade B to grade A to recover it. Pure financial greed.
