It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Poor you.
It's ok my shoulders are broad, you are next when I get a minute but it seems to take a bit more thought to respond to your posts because they make sense to a degree.

Oh yeah. Take your time. But be warned you will never convince me away from my points on that post. It's based on a hell of a lot of personal experience. But do remember I did also say the "majority" not "everybody" in those industries as I don't believe there is ever 100% of any type of person in any walk of life.
I'm still not convinced this will go through in the manner that many think it will. I honestly don't think that Brexit means Brexit. I think it means Brexitish. I'm convinced it will end up being a watered down version of what the 'leave' voters voted for. Even now the EU are changing their position on it. Immediately following the vote the EU top brass were saying that Britian should not delay and must invoke article 50 now. Three months down the line and they're saying that they won't start discussions until after the German general election next year. The reason for that is clear. Germany runs the EU and they know that Merkel is almost less popular in Germay than Hitler will ever be and will be out of a job soon. That means they'll have a new leader with their own take on the EU and that's what they're waiting for. At that time the concessions that Merkel won't make, and won't allow other leaders to make (although God knows how she manages this) will be offered and the exit will be somewhat diluted on the justification that the circumstances are not what they were when the referendum took place.
I voted to remain and I totally accept that Brexit should mean Brexit regardless of how it affects the country. That is the democratic process and I support that. If what I've described above happens it would be a scandal........... but I for one won't be too upset.

So 48% of the population are "Old Etonians, farmers, bankers, land owners" really? Or perhaps people who could make a measured decision that wasn't predominantly immigration biased ?
48% of British people lost as a result of the referendum? Again I beg to differ, if it turn's out to be the wrong decision a lot more than 48% will lose. An awful lot of Brexiteers, will also lose big time. So why does it have to come down to such a pathetic analogy of what Brexit really means if you voted remain. It tickles me this.
I haven't got a clue what you are talking about with regards to the "storm", but already GDP forecasts for next year have been revised downwards to 1%(from 2% previously) by the OECD, and that's only as we start to enact Article 50. PIGS as you refer to them all have structural deficit problems which where caused by government spending and the bail out of banks (particularly in Ireland), it has nothing to do with the EU per se. Indeed Ireland through its favourable taxation policy has recovered quite well, as has Spain and Portugal in recent years.
As for your last paragraph, it really isn't anything more than a rant is it. I cannot fathom anything constructive out of it.
The old chestnut immigration rears its head when you need to support your cause!
The Irish Economy having nothing to do with the EU, then why did they not only interfere but enforce them to take more tax from a large American Corporation? Which could affect their employment numbers
As for a rant, that cannot be further from the truth...

But still, good post, Spuddy.
A round of applause even though he is a weekend Eddie Izzard with the Pink Beret!....
I can also see the reasoning behind taking slow but steady steps towards being an Independent nation again, along with Merkel being jackbooted out for letting the millions of Economic Migrants flood Germany, although some socialist stated that she did this because Germany needed labour over the next 20 years, make of that what you will?...
But more importantly once that useless piece of shit Obama leaves his post, it will be most interesting to see who actually wins the biggest job in politics in the western world....
Again well said spuddy lad, you have let your sword rest and have more importantly moved on....

Immigration has nothing to do with supporting my cause. But it is the reason that large swathes of the 52% voted leave and therefore relevant to the debate.
You quoted the EU as being responsible for causing the economic woes of Ireland, don't change or twist the subject. That is factually incorrect. Ireland like many other countries did not keep a lid on it's public spending (plus its Banks imploded) and that is what cause the need for a bailout.
The situation with the EU, Apple and Ireland is not even relevant to the debate. The Irish Finance Ministry have gone on record anyway as saying that they will appeal the EU ruling. Yes there is no doubt the EU are way out of line, but Ireland as I said before have been very generous to large corporations over the last few years. That is a matter for the Irish government, if they think taking this line allows the creation of thousands of well paid skilled jobs would you honestly blame them.

And it is a majority - no system could support such levels of extended corruption without a huge buy-in from those involved, particularly at senior levels.

I never said the bankers where saints, but you cannot keep quiet when all the taxes are rolling in and then stick the knife in when corruption has been unearthed. That my friend is called being fickle, it was common knowledge the bankers where greedy long before the financial crisis. I worked in the middle of it all for many years and could see the excessive risk taking.
"Excessive risk taking"? Spoken like a banker! I'm talking about flat-out corruption, theft, and lying. Risk taking is the least of their "crimes".
And who kept quiet? Not me. Why would I? I saw no benefit from "the taxes rolling in". I saw an economy that cost me more to live in year after year, that took more tax and levies from my wage with no corresponding improvement in hospitals or public services. I can stick the knife into these thieving bastards as much as I like. Always have, always will. In my career and personally I have had numerous dealings with bankers, developers and lawyers and all three professions are populated by corrupt, dishonest, thieving bastards to varying degrees, the majority being absolute vermin.
Ok I think it's difficult to compare what happened in Ireland with the UK.My references where to banking in the UK. Your property bubble burst, off the back of wreckless lending and a few banks going under, I remember Anglo Irish Bank and the Bank of Ireland having severe difficulties. So I guess with the suffering the property downturn caused it's hard for me to comment against anything you have said.
In the noughties the tax take from the square mile alone paid for the whole of the UK education budget. I am not referring to the people keeping quiet, it's the politicians who then like everyone else jumped on the bankers backs after everything unravelled. I am not surprised you have that opinion of the three professions based on your experiences, and I despite what I have said think the bankers have a lot to answer for. The general response from most people is to refer to "greedy bankers", and you have put together a constructive reasoning for not liking them. Shame there isn't much else common sense on this thread.

Sometimes you just need to stop living in denial! it has happened! you need to move on! And grasp the new opportunities that come your way with Brexit.
Trust me you will tell your descendants what a great job the 52% did for their nation, and when they ask you how you voted? don't be ashamed of saying, you voted for remain lol....

That's the problem with spellcheck; it never picks up that the wrong word is used.
what continues to amaze me is that leavers continue to be in complete denial that the UK will be worse off after Brexit.
firstly people are saying that there has been no change since June. Well yes that's because WE ARE STILL IN THE EU. We have only voted to leave.
the UK is like a football team about to be relegated. when we invoke article 50 we will be relegated, but we will still be playing out the matches of the league season and in the case of Brexit for up to a further two years. it is only after that time when we find ourselves in another division that we will face the full consequences.
They are likely to be worse export performance due to inferior EU access for business and financial services; lower potential growth and lower consumer spending from reduced migration inflows; and weaker investment growth, reflecting the above factors plus extra uncertainty.
The problem with the immigration argument is that people clearly seemed to misunderstand it totally.
Forget about figures reporting net benefit etc. as anyone can manipulate figures to make them read what they want to, the simple fact is that people confused EU migration with other social issues and quite frankly fear for their own safety. To give you an example of this I have a female friend that has Cambridge degrees coming out of her arse. Normally when she speaks I can't understand half of it because the shortest word she uses has 12 letters. She's a real highbrow intellectual. She said to me, and I'm not kidding either, that coming out was essential because of the immigrants from Syria etc. are trying to change the way we live in our own country!
I asked her what that had to do with the EU and her answer was it was all part of the immigration problem and coming out would fix it.
Now that's an intelligent person speaking and if she didn't get it how can the average drongo be expected to.
I think a lot of Brexiteers voted on that basis as their main motivator and that is what swung the vote. That's not to say all of them did. Of course there are those that have views as to why we should be out of the EU that have nothing to do with immigration. I totally respect these people and their opinions but they do need to be aware that it's the drongo's wot won it!

Spellcheck also doesn't pick up a fundamentally flawed argument, like you have presented on this thread. Or have you given up trying to debate?
