Ozil and Sanchez want £250k a week
Re: Ozil and Sanchez want £250k a week
not a chance in hell they are getting this from ours or any other club for that matter.
Great players don't get me wrong, but not worth that much

Not worth to whom exactly? Are YOU making the money that would otherwise have been spent on quality players?enjibenji wrote:not a chance in hell they are getting this from ours or any other club for that matter.

Pay them, easy as that.
It's the going rate for top quality players, get over it.
So you don't pay them, and they go else where, leaving Arsenal without 2 world class talents, and unable to attract anyone else because everyone knows Arsenal don't pay top dollar for quality. Yeah good call.

100 k isnt the going rate for right backs who arnt actually as good as they think. Spurs wages model is a lesson , not that they should be a role model in anything but they dont pay the ridiculous wages to crap/average/unproven players we do. thats the only credit i will give that horrendous club.

Well I'd like to believe we could offer them a bit less than the 250 and they would accept!
But if it has to be 250 then bloody well pay it!
And I echo the opinion of others, tie up a good contract for Bellerin.

There's a video of Sanchez on Arsenal Player the first time I've heard him speak English. Not quite sure what he says but it's worth a watch, bless him.

And what exactly have Spurs won in recent memory? Yeah, FUCKING NOTHING. They do NOT have the model to win trophies.

I remember the same argument being made when the wally was signing his last TWO contracts

For the record, how many players do we realistically see earning £250k per week in world football these days ? I believe that it is an awful lot less than some of you think, so I would be hesitant to assume that is the bar in which wages are now set. Also I have to say this, but sanchez is NOT top quality - he is a great player and I love having him in our team for the passion, commitment and energy he brings every single game, but I also recognize that he has key attributes (ball control for example) that would certainly keep him from that top quality standard.
I'm saying all that but I still feel that we should pay them the money they want

Wenker would never sanction a player earning more than him.

sadly its modern football, just pay them the money,or they'll be gone, because someone will pay them it,these fuckers have no loyalty
Re: Ozil and Sanchez want £250k a week
People are suggesting paying Bellerin 100-150k a week who is defensively suspect and can't cross? A promising talent, yes, but that's it. When these little shits start performing consistently all season and win the big trophies then they can talk. I would actually support Wenger not bowing into Bellerin's demands for a hefty pay rise at this point in his career. He's not as good as people think and has a lot to prove.the playing mantis wrote:100 k isnt the going rate for right backs who arnt actually as good as they think. This is why young players lose motivation at this club. They are paid ridiculous sums which even clubs like Real, Bayern or Barcelona wouldn't pay for achieving fuck all but bottling big games every season. Then you all wonder why they lack the desire to win things. If they flop then they are almost impossible to shift because they are on ridiculous wages which no other club are willing to pay.
Don't spend a single penny on this club any more so not arsed how the money is spent. Might as well pay them (Ozil/Sanchez), or they'll get it somewhere else. Doesn't Wenger position himself as the top earner at the club? He won't like players usurping his top dog status.
Re: Ozil and Sanchez want £250k a week
It doesnt have to be 250, maybe the club could negotiate the down to 200 or 220. But all the same, this is where football is going. The best players in the world are earning this type of money, and yes, Ozil and Sanchez are among the top 20 players in the world. Sure its outrageous money. But did you know George Soros made over 1 billion in a week betting against the British pound in 1992.
As for Bellerin. He needs to be tied up. The 'he shouldnt get 100k until he proves something' brigade are missing the point. Bellerin is being heavily coveted by Man City and Barcelona. He is wanted by Barcelona, and Pep - what does that tell you about his ability?
Bellerin is the best right back in England, and one of the best rb's in the world. For so long we have criticized the club for putting 'morals' above ambition, yet some people say 'fuk Bellerin off then if he wants 100k a week'. Yeah alright then, Fuk him off to Man City and watch him develop into the next Cafu in a light blue top. While we Arsenal fans have nothing but the 'moral high ground' for refusing to give into Bellerin's wage demands. Then when Man City beat us 3-0, we can bitch and moan about how much more money they spend than we do. Thats what we used to do, when RVP, Nasri, Clichy ect left us. Drown in self-pity and justify our failures by citing lack of investment (some of these fans sound like Wenger).
So to those who want to 'fuk Bellerin off' and say 'he shouldnt get 100k until he proves something', you are behind the times. Same goes for Ozil and Sanchez and 250k a week.
But if you want to get all high and mighty, and go all Arsene Wenger on steroids, by refusing to pay these type of wages out of some sort of self imposed principle, then dont complain when we sell Bellerin, Ozil and Sanchez inside the next two years, and we linger well below the pace as we did for 2006 up until the year before last.
I dont know about all of you, but I kind of like having a deep sqaud filled with quality, with some of the best players in the world. I like the fact we have a realistic chance of winning the league this year. I like being competitive and whipping Chelsea 3-0. Chelsea, who used to be better than us, and well and truly a level or two beneath us now. Yet we have some fans who are prepared to let Ozil and Sanchez walk, or even sell Bellerin to Man City????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Re: Ozil and Sanchez want £250k a week
Interesting how this thread has evolved. If Arsenal do give in to wage demands of the said players you cannot say that we are running the club like a business.
In our last results, we published a turnover of £350m for the year ending 31 May. I assume this was before we began to see the new TV money coming in from sky/BT.
So Ozil and Sanchez want £25m pa between them, quite a chunk of our turnover. I am sure we can get them down a bit as others have said. If they settle for around £200-£220k pw then that would be good business imo.
Anyone else who wants more than £200k mind can fuck off. And I mean Theo there, he has to show consistency and play at the same level as he has done so far this season over a longer period.
Bellerin is worthy of £100k pw. The thing with Barca is that I genuinely believe he could hold down a place in their first team for a number of years, so we need to act fast.
