It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.
Just been looking up the cost of living in Basel for our anticipated trip in December.
0.5 litre of beer £5.36 that's over £6 a pint
Big Mac Meal £12.36
Glass of coke £3.32
2 course meal in a mid range restaurant £76
The Swiss Franc has appreciated like the Euro and Dollar over 15% since the referendum. Well done Brexiteers, as Gooners we have cut off our noses to spite our faces.
stop panicking nutty seriously we dont know how things will be when we eventually leave. For ever expert who is saying its a bad thing there is another one saying it will be fine http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/09 ... ce-brexit/
No one knows and panicking will only make it worse

what are you on about?
the problems are already starting and we havent even left yet!
even if we are able to arrange new trade deals they are likely to take years to sort out, and the weaker our economy gets then the less bargaining power we will have with the EU.
If Brexit was such good news why is it that the pound is falling against the euro and not the other way around?

Panicking? I am stating facts lad, do you think the pound will recover the amount it has lost since June by early December?
Those prices are reflective of the costs that British people will face travelling into Europe. Would you rather we had a strong or weak currency. Are you capable of seeing the impact this has on all of our lives not just when we travel abroad but when we buy stuff in our own shops. The answer to that is an emphatic no.
Well done on bringing just about the most right wing Tory newspaper into the fold.
No the pound wont gain whats its lost so quickly but it will over time
So I tell you what I will put my mortgage on the pound recovering based on your advice, err no thanks .........
Im the person that wonders if Bergkamps goal at Newcastle was meant, i wouldn't put a penny on my own predictions 'lad' never tried to be an expert just giving my opinions mate and not getting angered and patronising with others who dont agree with them
but people panicking will make things worse and a lot of traders will make fortunes out of buying and selling the rocky currency and shares. The financial crash of the 30's was a disaster but things recovered and similar in 2007/08 as we are still in recovery globally. Things will be rocky but we'll recover in time

the only people who panicked this year were all those who voted "LEAVE". Like you say there has been the financial crash of the 30s and 2007/8.
there was no need to create another one

You mention 'NEW' trade deals, which implies that there are trade deals which will need replacing.
Which of the current trade deals arranged by the EU do you fear losing? There are virtually none of any importance.
The fear of losing trade agreements was touted by Remainers, but the truth is that the EU hasn't concluded any significant deals, so there's nothing to lose.
I don't know whether future trade deals will be easier to conclude for an independent UK or a huge EU trading bloke, and neither does anyone else.

53% of our imports into the UK came from other countries in the EU in 2015 so yeah I suppose trading with the EU doesn't really matter.
oh and by the way because of the falling pound we are now paying more for each and every one of those imports.

As Rob mentioned, when pretty much 50% of your trade is with the EU of course there are new trade deals that have to be arranged with the Europeans. The only problem is, like a divorce you have two parties who are not exactly on very good terms. I will let you figure out if that translates into a deal that is for the benefit of everyone.
Prior to voting in the referendum I became very interested in the arguments for Leave and Remain. I have never taken such an interest in politics before.
I believe that people should not vote without listening to both sides of the argument. As I did.
Here's a challenge to the Remain voters. If you are not prepared to spend an hour watching the following link, then I suggest your minds are too closed to arrive at a balanced opinion as to whether the EU is a good or bad institution for the modern world.
