Firstly and the biggest factor IMO the uncontrolled flow of unskilled migrant workers which has forced wages down for the lower paid people especially young people in Britain, i recently have got involved in youth work and nearly all of the youth workers i know (a bigger bunch of left wing social worker types you wont ever meet) all voted out due to the problems the young people they work with face days after day. Now some of my friends say thing like 'well my son left school started an apprenticeship earns £200 and never had a problem' etc etc etc but there mare many young people that don't have the guidance or intelligence that my friends kids have had and many of these types of people struggle and voted out. This IMO is NOT racism
I didn't say there was a "big" racist element, mate (or even a "medium" sized one!).
The vote was tight - 52% to 48% - if I remember correctly? The people you mention above would be the type of people I listed in the first group, the ones with "genuine" concerns about the economy and uncontrolled immigration. And no I do not consider someone with concerns about uncontrolled immigration a racist.
But I don't think anyone can deny that a certain "unknown" percentage of those that voted for Brexit did so with a xenophobic or racist agenda. Christ, I think SlyNews found and interviewed most of them the next day!!

I think that unknown percentage might have carried the day for Brexit. But that doesn't mean it was the only factor obviously. It might have just been enough to get the result. Maybe.
My point was that not all Brexitters were of that ilk...
Totally agree, but there is no doubt that the referendum has brought a lot of people that may have kept their extreme views to themselves in the past, out of the woodwork. Who knows how many truly are racist out of the 52% but for me even 0.5% is too much.
Putting this into perspective, an MP and a Polish immigrant have been killed largely due you could say to the whole debate. That's two people too many in my book.
That and the lack of any sort of a plan to lead Britain out of the EU is the most disappointing part of this year for me. It is scary that bungling Boris, Gove and Farage set their stall out with no clear path if they actually won. Farage is now revelling in the glory and Bungling Boris is trying his best to start a war with Russia. How long before teacher May slaps him down again.
Then you have the Economic side of things. Something that in my opinion was poorly presented to the country by Osborne and Cameron, but how do you present something negative like that without coming across as scaremongering.
I am going out to stockpile on lynx and marmite today, might make a few quid if the price rises kick in!!
