Saturday 4th November 1978 - Arsenal 4 Ipswich Town 1, west stand lower with the old fella. I had to think long and hard because I was certain that football existed prior to 1992 and that Arsenal also existed pre-1996.....and yep, its true...it wasn't only a dream

I actually got quite excited for a few minutes thinking I had found the footage on YouTube but the only bloody clip of the game seems to be Paul Mariner scoring Ipswich's goal.

Plenty of nice haircuts on display

Mine was '77 I think,(might have to google it) v Bristol City at the greatest football stadium in the world,a place on my doorstep too! I clearly remember my dad taking me into the Marble Halls and talking to a man in a suit,as we left to enter the ground I asked my dad who that was..."Joe Royle" my old man said.

I think Arsenal won 2-0 or 2-1 and I think City were relegated for the next 3 seasons?

Hooked from then on,the sounds, crowds, the smell of the old men smoking 'baccy, the colours, fucking loved it,

(Just done some homework,it was 1978 according to Google.March 18th,and Arsenal won 4-1 with goals from David Price,2 from Stapleton and Alan Sunderland got the 4th,att 28,463,please forgive my memory I was only 6  )
Google did say SuperMac was playing, shame I don't remember that.

After doing that homework I went on Ebay and found the programme, happy days!

Think you could be right mate. Also remember a couple of years later being there as a nipper when he came back in a Man U shirt and got dog's abuse. I would have only been around 7 or 8 at the time and remember one of those where my old man picked me up and plonked me into someone's front garden near the ground as Herd and the boys came charging down the road. Herd.....any memories of Man U at our place back then mate?

I was only a kid then but I remember United always seemed to cover every square inch of the Clock End,hanging off railings and on top of them concrete boxes at the sides, always seemed to be millions of the c*nts

United fans had a reputation back in the 70s..caused mayhem wherever they went...remember them playing St Eitenne in Plymouth in a Cup Winners Cup game as punishment for trouble in France in the first leg...
Although I was a fanatical Arsenal fan from early 70s living in Ireland meant I didn't get to games until I could afford to go myself.. First visit to Highbury (friendlies in Dublin don't count) was in 1990 V Norwich City.. 2-0 win with an untouchable Paul Davies getting both..Limpar was the also brilliant that day...We had tickets for the lower West stand, but I was jealous of those queueing up for the North Bank..

My visit visit to Highbury was to see us lose 3-1 to Forest in March 1989. I remember the pitch being a sandpit and remember being surprised by how big everything seemed. We went one down, equalised through Smith and then let in two more before half-time.

My first Arsenal match was away to Wimbledon in 1987, I think. We went one up but then lost 3-1.
Whilst looking at old football stuff, I came across this website which brings back memories:

Remember they tried coming across the pitch to the Northbank once, and hardly any made it the ones that got in wish they hadn't, have no clue when it was...early 1970s?

Bunch of newbies!
Good Friday 1963, Arsenal 3 WBA 2 11.30 kick off
My dad (a sort of spuds fan) gave in to my pre teen nagging and took me to Highbury. Ten bob each in the front of the East lower. I remember George Eastham and Joe Baker, it was a very sunny day and a big crowd. The pitch was rolled dry mud with triangles of grass in each corner. We had just had a really bad winter with snow on the ground from boxing day to early March so the fixture list had been badly affected, the reason the game was on Good Friday morning. The following day we were away to Sheffield Utd I think. Imagine that happening these days!

April '97, beat Leicester 2-0. Sat in the North Bank (had the same seat then until we moved). Have the ticket framed on the wall of my old bedroom at my parents house.

First game I vividly remember was the 3-2 win against United in early 97-98. Vieira scored a screamer, Anelka made it 2 then Sheringham scored twice to leave it. Platt won it with a great header. Fucking wonderful.

1965 or 66. I can't remember.

My Grandad took me (I suspect to keep me out of the clutches of my Palace supporting dad). I remember being excited and scared. We played West Ham, but I can't even remember if it was home or away. I know we won, but can't remember much more. I didn't start going regularly for ten years after that.

Guys, if you need stats and line ups etc as I have done, check out 11v11.com you will be pleasantly surprised..
Granadajoe my old man took me to a few games, his mate was crazy about Fulham, so I saw quite a few games at the Cottage, Johnny Haines etc, also in November 1970 was taken to Stamford Bridge to see Chelsea v Tottenham, a record 67,277 crowd, reckon there was a few more as me and the old man squeezed through the turnstiles as 1, instructed by the dodgy operator of course..... :barscarf:
