THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Listening to the podcast and it was stated that after this season

Ozil
Sanchez
Bellerin
Santi
Kos
Ramsey
Ox

Are all either down to one or two years in their contract!

So this season has to be a winning one

He is. But the big test is when Ramsey and Giroud are fit again. Does Wenger try to force either (or both) back into the team even though it is beyond clear the team is much better without them?

Giroud - I dont see any reason for him to be on the pitch baring an injury crisis. Sanchez and Perez are first and second choice strikers.

Ramsey - I dont see how he could ever be played out wide ever again. The natural width and pace of Iwobi and Walcott adds balance and structure to the team. I wouldnt even play Ramsey in the middle. The only players who should play in the middle are Cazorla, Coquelin, Xhaka and Elneny.

No doubt they will eventually see game time, its just a matter of how they are deployed. I for one have no problem with Giroud being a plan B, or throwing on Ramsey when are need a goal. So when they do get on the field, they need to play like their Arsenal careers depend on it. Sanchez, is a million miles better than Giroud, and works twice as hard as Giroud. Who does Giroud think he is, to put such lack of effort in, when better players around him are running and hustling. Ramsey, needs to keep it simple and give up on the flicks. He also needs to hold shape.

The team as it is, is balanced and has rhythm. they are working hard, getting back to defend, and holding shape. If Wenger was a strong manager, he would read the riot act to anyone who feels they can walk onto the pitch, and not keep the same high standards being displayed.

I for one, hope both Ramsey and Giroud dont get fit.

We've been here many times before only for it to end badly.
Reserving judgement at the moment and just enjoying The Arsenal winning.

Exactly. Every season we hit a purple patch and then when it matters Wenger fucks it up. I'm just enjoying a few wins, some good goals and a few decent bits of football without Ramsey choking the life out of it with flicks, backheels and dawdling on the ball...

So me and Mrs PostmanPat moved house yesterday, and she started hassling me to buy brand new bed linen and duvet covers as "we wouldn't be able to find them amongst all the boxes"..... my reply? "The answer is not always to buy" 8) Cheers Arsene

I think the run might continue up until the New Year at least. Arsenal will probably save this seasons collapse until its less predictable. Just to cause maximum distress.

:D

If you want to follow Arsene's example further, then when you move into your new house, get rid of your best furniture because its too old and fill your new house with a lot of cheap homemade crap ( except for that expensive bottle of vintage French wine of course ... keep that at first to save face ... before letting it go after less than a year as it doesn't fit in anymore ).

Many point out that he scores only because he gets multiple chances. But finding chances is a skillset, I for one wish Iwobi would find himself in scoring positions more - but he doesnt.

Walcott, he may have obvious limitations, but he has proven he patches where he scores frequently, and until the goals dry up, I wont be criticizing him.
Well that is something that some find difficult to do - when they have a crush on someone.

I would have a go at you for calling out his crush and embarrassing him on a public forum but I just couldn't bring myself to criticise you

Also every time you drive away from your new house... leave the handbrake on

Quality, response. do you not have any internal solutions you can turn to ?

If not wait till January to save yourself from paying dizzying prices.

Ive said before, that so long as Wenger keeps the current line up, and doesn't try to tinker when Ramsey and Giroud get back, then we have a great chance to win the league this year.

The minute Ramsey is fit Wenger will shoe horn him into the side. And he will stay as a starter in that side no matter how shit he plays. That's what Wenger does. :|
