THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Didn't they basically say during the AGM that they want Wenger to stay?
Actually winning trophies doesn't seem to matter to the board (or AKBs).
I thought that this was pretty much a given.
Its all about being in the top 4 these days - you only have to see how we prioritise the league cup and to see the merchandise in the Armoury to see evidence of this.

trophies are so last century.

Wenger has already said he wont look at this own situation until after the season - so if he doesn't have the PL or CL, he is an out of contract manager without a major trophy in 13 years.

But for him to sign a new deal, before any of Bellerin, Sanchez or Ozil - would be a new low, even for him.
I disagree, don't get me wrong those 3 players contracts are important, but as far as I am concerned the ONLY Contract of ANY importance right now, and for the foreseeable future is Wenger's.

If the cun.t signs on the dotted line again we Gooners are fucked for another 3 years or whatever it is...If he doesn't and leaves at the end of the season (which I don't think will happen - not while there's the offer of a £2.5 million per annum + bonuses increase on his current contract ready and waiting) then we stand a chance of re-building something akin to a football club that can put trophies before profit. Yes, that would take a number of years after the despot cun.t has fuckked off, but I am willing to pay THAT particular price.

#WENGER OUT
No, thats cutting of your nose to spite your face.

Those three players all leaving would be worse than Wenger signing a new deal.

You still do not get it do you. It is Wenger that IS The Problem. We could have the barca team and he would still fuck it up - He is the root, branch and twig cause of all the Arsenal woes.

We have excellent players - But under him they are ill-trained, ill- pre-pared for games - HE (wenger) doesn't Do Tactics...He doesn't drill the defence - He will Not allow Bould to coach the defence - He is a despot and keeps a strangle hold on all aspects of Arsenal that is why we are a world class club in name and finances Only.

Until he is Gone - The past 12 years will continue to be re-cycled and he will continue to re-gurgitate the same old crap and the same old worn out tired lame excuses.....

Anyone who still supports wenger is an AKB - No blurring of the lines - No excuses....

It is either Wenger In or Wenger Out!. Until he goes we are flat track bully boys incapable of winning the prem or the CL. FACT.

Were draw the line then? Is getting relegated worth happening for Wenger to leave?

Im all for Wenger leaving at the end of the year. The only way he could ever make a case for staying is if he wins the PL or CL.

However, im not prepared to go along with this scorched earth policy of self-destruction.

And all I said is right now the only contracts that should be in the works are Ozil, Sanchez and Bellerin. Whats wrong with that?

In a word "Everything" - You seem unable to grasp what it is you have said - even though you said it and what I have countered with.

You say the contract/s for our best players is the most important thing - The most important and only contract worth a thing right now - is Wenger's.

Why? because regardless of which players sign new contracts/extensions or whatever - We (please read this slowly and C-A-R-E-F-U-L-L-Y) could have the finest players available (though of course we know that isn't going to happen whilst wenger is at the helm) but Because of Wenger's INABILITY to Manage at the Highest and Required Level - We (THE Arsenal) Would(and will) still fail to win the Prem Title.

He is redundant, a spent force. His approach to football is out-moded, he once was the new kid on the block with good ideas that worked, but that was 15 years ago. Everything he brought to the game back then has since been superseded, but because of his obstinate attitude and lack of flexibility he is holding the team back from what it could be. Unfortunately there are some fans who still think he is a leader, an achiever, rather than (sadly) the failure he has embarrassingly become.

As long as Wenger is in charge - We will only continue to tread water at best.

Sad but True.

As for contracts for Ozil & Santi - yes I hope they do sign, even so their re-signing to Arsenal will mean nothing if Wenger remains. FACT.

Bizarre comment.

If he stays and develops the way he is he'll be the b best right back in the league.
To be honest mate I dont really care about Arsenal that much anymore so my views are distorted by a severe lack of enthusiasm. Especially when it comes to things like potential. Hector Bellerin's progress and future career doesnt interest me at all.

So let me get this straight. The most important contract - is a do nothing appraoch to Wenger's contract. Rather than an active appraoch to Bellerin's, Sanchez and Ozil's??????

Wenger has said himself - his contact wont be discussed until after this season. So literally - nothing will be done before now and the end of the season with regards to Wenger's contract? Now in that time, do we not try to extend Ozil, Sanchez or Bellerin's contracts??? Hence my statement about those three players being the only contracts that matter.

Talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Some people would be glad to see Sanchez, Ozil and Bellerin leave, just to make Wengers position untenable.

You dont have to purge Arsenal to get rid of Wenger. Im no Wenger fan myself, but the idea all contracts discusisons are frozen until Wenger future is sorted out is rubbish. Why should Arsenal stand still and in limbo - simply waiting for one man? The club is bigger than Wenger, therefore Bellerin, Sanchez and Ozi'sl contracts should be sorted regardless of whether Wenger stays or goes.

and why should it as the main part of it will be back at Barcelona.

I feel the same. Aside from Sanchez, I can't be arsed about any of them. :(
