THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Why not defend that performance then? Why not defend your Lord and God Wenger's inactivity on the bench whilst the team he picked was beaten by a seriously shit Everton side? No, you'd rather just turn up every few weeks to have a pop at people that don't just blindly buy into the company line... :roll:
Laughing Gooner....so you are happy with last 12 years then?
same groundhog season year after year...its not just one bad performance at Everton, this is the season panning out....are you happy with another 4th place?

I want more, i want that CL trophy and a league title....but this will not happen under the current regime
Its pointless debating with Laughing, hes a wum and offers nothing else unfortunately

TBH, whilst I obviously want to win the PL and the CL (and the beautiful FA Cup), I'd be happy enough with even just something different rather than the same predicable under-performance year after year. A scrappy gutsy relegation battle? A storming all conquering Invincibles season? Fuck yeah - to both!! It's the boring hopeless repetitive nature of Wenger's mistakes that kill me. :|

I'd accept a new manager coming in and rebuilding even if it meant mid table finishes or relegation battles for a few seasons. What we do now is boring repetitive under-performance.

just thinking would it not be hilarious watching and listening to Wenger if he was not the manager of the club i love

absolutely hilarious, his quotes, his reactions and constantly embarrassed by other managers....his arguing with the 4th official....which is bizarre
and of course his befuddled frustrated look when his team is getting outplayed...and of course the coat and Zip...at Wembley when he got lost going up the stair case...its beyond belief :D

He cuts a really great figure of leadership .....

But of course its not funny ....it all makes my piss boil :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

The problem with a lot of people who post comments like LG has is that they are not looking at the last 12 years - they reset the counter at the start of every new season.

Thats why you'll often see comments lamenting the ''knee jerk reaction to one game''.

How many games do Arsenal actually play well in these days? Games where the whole team performs very well? We must play 50-60 games every season and every season its probably no more than 5 where we can say the team played well and were enjoyable to watch.

Correct.

Most games we dig a hole which takes 75mins to overcome -if at all.

Absolutely.

That phrase the more moronic Wenger-sheep spout "knee jerk reaction to one game" is fucking ludicrous. :roll: If it was just one game then fine but it is historical failure over a decade long period ffs... :roll:

And the "soooper qualideee" of our football is a bit of a myth perpetrated by the Wenger-sheep and a fickle weak media. Whilst we can at times play exciting incisive attacking football, we also more often than not just slip into stagnant tippy tappy rubbish with no penetration or decisive flow to it. :|

It's like the myth of the Italian game in the 1980s. Football "purists" and snobs used to hail the beautiful "chess-like" tactical and technical elegance of a game that was most often 24 passes across the back 4 and then lob it up to the centre forward. :oops: :roll:

Total agree with this.
There is no excitement anymore as you know exactly how the season is going to pan out (and this season is shaping up to be just like the previous 10+ years).

Except this bit;

"First, Arsenal pretended they had money when they initially didn’t, as the club were still feeling the effects of building The Emirates Stadium."

Absolute horsehit. The money was always there to compete. Wenger just pissed it away over-paying rubbish players that his ego told him would turn into good players, but who ultimately didn't. :roll:

Posted this on the Sanchez thread but sits equally well here;
This is what has been historically wrong with our squads since 2007. We have had too many shit to average players on silly money with no motivation to improve their game or deliver on the pitch. Also, the extending of contracts with pay rises for rubbish players has hurt our chances for over a decade now.

And there are still absolute morons that insist Wenger has worked miracles with no money because of the stadium move... despite him coining £7million now £8million a year and overpaying the likes of Almunia, Song, Denilson, Vela, Flappy, Ramsey, Walcott, Chesney, Sanogo, Diaby, Hleb and other shit players far beyond what they were worth and for years beyond the point it was obvious they were rubbish.

I've said it all along I'll say it again; THE MONEY TO COMPETE FOR THE TITLE WAS ALWAYS THERE, WENGER JUST MISSPENT IT BADLY. :roll:
