I know we've all said it a million times before but had he actually done the decent thing and fucked off in 2010 or 2011, he'd have been seen in a different light. He could have been humble, he could have been honest and said he's gone as far as he can go but he chose vanity.markyp wrote:it just goes to show that its all about him, anyone who cared about the club would step aside and let someone more capable step in but not TOF,he just carrys on regardless,i wonder how low we will go before he finally steps aside?this season finishing outside the top 4 is a real possiblityEboue-Why? wrote:I still think it's 'sad' that for all of the initial success he had and the admiration we had for him that now whenever I see him on the touch line or hear his interviews I can't bear to listen or look at the man

1. I scramble for the remote control whilst shouting "Oh shut up you f***ing wanker"
2. My kids laugh like drains saying "Daddy said a naughty word"
3. My wife shouts at me and says "Why do you bother if you hate him so much?"
The ONLY thing that excites me about Arsenal these days is imagining how it will feel when the arrogant old git finally leaves.

Rodders has more chance of Nat lifting her restraining order than we have of ever being rid of OGL

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Anyone seen Martin Keown's latest comments?
He is singing the familiar song of 'Sanchez and Ozil might not be willing to commit to Arsenal with Wenger off contract at the end of the year'. In other words, better sign Wenger up for a few more years in order to have a chance of keeping Ozil and Sanchez.
What does it say about Wenger, that his lap dogs must always have to try and scare Arsenal fans into supporting Wenger?
Although, I dont think Sanchez rates Wenger, and ironically, I think our chances of keeping him would improve if Wenger were to leave. Although if you said that to Keown, or any other lap dog - they would fall backwards.

I'm exactly the same. Every now and again, I sit and think about what I like about football ans the only thing I can think of, is the idea of him fucking off.
My daughter is six and asked me the other day why I keep saying Wenger Out. What does it mean? I just laughed.

But yeah in all honesty I enjoyed that "first" FA Cup win so much (I take it you are referring to the first FA Cup since the trophy drought began?) and I was hoping he'd go then, with a little bit of dignity left and even just a handful of us genuine fans maybe still feeling some kind of warmth towards him for his earlier achievements.
Now he's like a festering wound. I hate that our most successful manager has become a figure of ridicule. He should have attained legendary status but ultimately he hasn't and won't. He won 2 Doubles and gave us the simply amazing Invincibles season. He holds the record for the most FA Cups won (I don't count George Ramsey's 6 at Villa because they were mostly won back in the 1890s when football was basically a few lads turning up for a bit of a kick around, and also Villa are shit). He was the ONLY manager to step up and challenge Manure's dominance. All this whilst playing the best football the English game has ever seen. He should be a legend. But his legacy is forever tainted and that is a real shame.

I find myself hating the man at times but the way you have laid it out just begs the question... How did it go so wrong?? You wonder if other teams caught up and he stood still, did he refuse to change, to adapt, was it his refusal to listen to advice.......???DB10GOONER wrote:begeegs wrote:I think that if he had walked away after his first FA cup, he'd not only be viewed in a pretty positive light, but he'd still have a wife.Perryashburtongroves wrote:I know we've all said it a million times before but had he actually done the decent thing and fucked off in 2010 or 2011, he'd have been seen in a different light. I think the Invincibles was perhaps the worst thing that could have happened...made him believe HE is invincible. Also the press & media sycophants haven't helped, they have bolstered & supported him no matter what. Were they to honestly analyse the last decade they would see that he has been found wanting. In a BIG way!!

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I think you have 100% accurately answered your own question there, mate. I would only add that the club, the owners and the Board must also bear some responsibility for not doing their own jobs and thus allowing him to run the team so badly for so long. There was ineffective and improper oversight on their part, motivated by greed, which led to a culture at the club whereby wealth meant success.xisstential wrote:I find myself hating the man at times but the way you have laid it out just begs the question... It's amazing how so many of us feel the same way about our manager. OUR manager!! The man that brought us so much pride and happiness. Now we hate the sight or sound of him.
The Cohen Bramall transfer is another kick up the nuts to all of us isn't it? We could strengthen to challenge for the title but no - we'll spend £40 grand on a non league player that Sheffield Wednesday aren't sure about.
It just screams that Wenger can do whatever he wants and what he wants is to be seen as a benevolent genius, seeing things that are beyond us mere mortals.
I despise him

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
It is sad that we have grown to despise him, but he has brought it on himself. Had he left in 2008 or been rightfully sacked in 2011, we could have had some positive feelings about him. Had he left in 2014, we could have had a little happiness he went out on a trophy, but he still wouldn't stop and he signed another undeserved contract to continue the purgatory.
I was looking at the old thread about the Invincibles documentary that aired almost two years ago after yet another dicking in the Be All and End All. There are some very good points made about him basically 'becoming God' at the club that season. The Invincibles created this monster. Dein's departure a few years later cemented it.
Ultimately, the man is a fraud. He 'earns' £950 every single hour, but does very little of the standard things a manager does. He lets the players do it all. He teaches them nothing and doesn't offer any guidance. Endless passing drills, five-a-sides, over-exertion in the gym leading to endless injuries. He is absolutely useless on matchdays, with his pre-arranged 70th minute subs and shameful behaviour towards the officials. Unfortunately, since the Cashburton move, he prefers players with minimal backbone, character or strength. Sanchez is a the exception, sadly. Then there's the tortuous sideways football with no penetration and a weak defence; TOF's 'aesthetics over goals'. He is the ultimate football snob.
A new contract for this charlatan is utterly unacceptable, though I fear it will happen anyway. Especially with this particularly passive fanbase thanks to obscene ticket prices, which is another 'success' of the ongoing gentrification of The Arsenal under TOF. I'd take a mid-90s Arsenal at Highbury over this re-branded façade any day.
