Stubborn Wenger Insults Ray Parlour (16/5)

Usual thread starter… So Arsene knows. I wonder if he is actually aware how unpopular Eboue is with the fans? It was interesting at Fulham away in 2006/07 when the away section, without actually booing Alexandre Song, made it clear to the manager they’d rather be watching Cesc Fabregas in central midfield. Maybe the fans – and no-one really wants to boo our own players - could decide who they would rather see starting and chant for them every time our number 27 touches the ball. Maybe then Le Boss would get the message…

The most horendous part of this is when Arsene goes on to tell us that you cannot use stats to analyase a players effectiveness etc!
Then later in the interview he rambles on about stats showing how much further players run etc during a game!!
Jesus Arsene, you built this club on stats and refuse to sign players over 30 on anything more than one year deals as you say the stats show they become less effective etc!

The fans are over reacting.
Eboue adding balance to the team in the type of player he is, makes sense.
To have a more creative player on left of midfield such as Hleb, Rosicky, then have a tougher workrate player who tackles on the right, is what I think Wenger is getting at.
I do not for one minute think he honestly would ever pick Eboue over Parlour if he had one space left on the team sheet and they were playing in the same eras.
Parlour outshines Eboue in all departments of play (except tackling in my opinion, even despite Eboue's sometimes terrible tackles at times he still is better at that than Parlour was, as he used to give away free kicks all the time with his tackles and often got booked...and I knwo I will get slated for my view on that!!!!).

You know what Quartz, I just can't be bothered. You continuing believing that Eboue is a better tackler than Parlour if you want to.
However I reckon you are in the very small minority - if not alone - in thinking that. The vast majority of Arsenal and football fans would strongly disagree.
Next you'll be trying to convince us that Almunia is a better shot-stopper than Pat Jennings!!

erm...am I the only one who thinks this Eboue business is getting a little bit out of hand?
Whether its his shameful behaviour that's influencing everyone, or whether its just that people are feeding of each others negativity....I can't help think that the whole "Eboue is shit" is snowballing out of all perspective
He's hardly my favourite player... but apparently, according to the the author of this article, Eboue is our worst player since John Kosmina, 30yrs ago! well...sorry, but that's bollocks.
Unlike the majority on here, I do think Eboue's place in the team has been justified! I Look at our squad, and, for me, the only options we've had for most of the season at right midfield, have been Eboue and Walcott.
The injuries to Van Persie, Rosicky, and to a lesser extent, Diaby & Denilson, have limited our options in midfield; even Eduardo gave us an option wide left! These long term absentees have resulted in Hleb spending much of the season behind the striker, or even at left midfield; leaving Eboue and Walcott to fight over the right midfield position.
So...then the question is...Eboue or Walcott?
Now, i'm willing to accept that Walcott is starting to deliver...but are people really saying that Walcott should have been a regular, ahead of Eboue this season? I don't.
He may not influence us going forward as much as we'd like, but defensively, I thought Eboue and Sagna forged a fairly decent partnership on the right side (especially before January)
I just can't understand how people can question Wenger for saying Eboue gives us balance, when he clearly does!
The Parlour comparison is an obvious one, and at no point did Wenger say Eboue was better than Parlour...or anything of the sort!
I don't know...maybe its just me

I think Eboue made his debut against Stoke in the cup..........had a decent game and his following apperances he looked a decent and hard working prospect.
In my opinion where he went wrong (and many young Arsenal prospects have) he belived his hype and changed.......for the worst.
Whatever you think of the mancs they seem to keep their prospects feet on the ground, Arsenal don't.
Perhaps it's the fact Arsenal are in London, i don't know.
For me Eboue is a decent player but he is a TOTAL in embarrsement to the club and in my opinion tWenger should make it very clear to the player, but he doesn't............so he continues to be an embarrasment to the shirt.

I agree with you, he looked very good for us during the Champions League run and I said that he'll be our Cafu with his marauding runs if he continues in the same wayEC3 wrote:I think Eboue made his debut against Stoke in the cup..........had a decent game and his following apperances he looked a decent and hard working prospect.
